“I'm so glad and wished I've read reviews before I bought.”

Thank You so much for posting the reviews. I had this dishwasher for 7 years only because we are a small family and used it maybe if we were lucky 2x's a month and extra only Thanksgiving and Christmas. We do NOT have a lot of time on this dishwasher. The motor just upped and kicked on us. E1 is what it says, So I've decided that because of reading your comments and reviews I will not call a service repairman. I will just go and purchase a different brand. 800.00 just dumped away. I finally have to replace my washer and dryer after 15 years. They still work, but missing a couple of cycles. I can guarantee they also will not be a LG. Thank You everyone for helping me figure it out.....I wish I would known then what I know now...... Run don't walk, Not impressed!

What a waste of my money. 5 repair calls, three pumps and it still breaks down with a 1E code. Even had a top man from the factory come out with the repair man...they replaced the pump mechanism again, the machine works for a couple of months, then breaks down again. Will never buy a LG product again.

written by soupermeister on 13/06/2010

I've owned my LG dishwasher for 4 years and for most of that time, it has had problems draining water. Several times during a cycle, the unit will stop with an OE status, meaning that the unit is having trouble pumping water out. It has reached the point that I have to bail water by hand multiple times to complete a cycle. I owned a GE unit for over 10 years, and never had headaches like this. The unit has been serviced 4 times, and the problem always returns. It has reached the point that the unit doesn't pump any water out. Without question, this is the WORST appliance that I've ever owned, and I will NEVER purchase another LG appliance as long as I live.

Seems I had the same issue as most others. Just quit drying the dishes. Plus if you pull the bottom rack out too quicdly, it falls off onto the floor. How ridiculous. Just a poor design. Will have to pay about $200 to get this drying issue fixed. I am having the same issues with the LG dryer. No more with LG. I am done. Products do not live up to the money you pay to purchase them.

“Bought what we thought was the top of the line...”

written by mstout on 20/03/2010

Bought what we thought was the top of the line dishwasher. In order to meet energy star requirements, LG took out the water heater from the unit. The only way we can get the unit to work is to leave the hot tap water running continuosly throughout the 2 hour cycle. Otherwise the water is not hot enough to dissolve the soap. We called LG and they sent out a repair technition who told us we needed to purchase a small under sink water heater in order to get the machine to work. So much for energy savings. We called LG again to complain and they said "Too bad. You got what you get." We had to reinstall our old mismatched dishwasher in order to get clean dishes. We will never buy an LG product again.

“Purchased LG dishwasher LDS5811BB in 6/2008. I thought...”

written by on 24/01/2010

Purchased LG dishwasher LDS5811BB in 6/2008. I thought spending $600 on a dishwasher would give us a piece of mind as we felt it was a higher quality machine. The first 1.5 years it worked great. The last 2-3 months had problems: when cycle's over, a good amount of clumped-up powder detergent remains in the detergent cup, even after a 2nd rinse cycle. Also, there is powder residue mixed with ground food particles left all over the glasses . Bassically the dishes/glasses come out dirtier than before starting the cycle. We cleaned the jets by the manual, but it seems as the pressure of the water from the jets is not enough (water pump problem?). Also the whole appartment smells like the detergent (we never had that problem before and have always used the same detergent). Called about the warranty service (parts 2 yrs & labor 1 yr), but we were told that the parts are only covered by the warranty when ordered by an authorized LG rep, and the LG rep is going to charge for the diagnosis. We understand that labor is not included, and we're willing to do the work ourselves (which still is disappointing after spending $600 on it only 1.5years ago), but charging for a diagnosis in order to get the parts covered seems to not only defeat the purpose of covering the parts, but very unfair and very mislesding waranty terms (this was not mentioned in the warranty terms). The rep was not helpful at all. Now we are stuck with a dishwasher that we can't use only after 1.5 years. I would not recommend it to anyone. It is better to spend a little more money and get a Miele or spend half and get a Whirlpool or sth. I am never buying anything LG anymore...their products are not good enough for the prices they charge and threir customer serviceis terrible. It is a complete waste of money and time and causes a lot of aggravation.

“It looks pretty but it doesn't work. ”

It looks pretty but it doesn't work.

I have the same leaky door problem that the above users had. We had a repair man come out and it only got worse! He replaced some gasket wrong and ruined our wood floor which we had to replace. He came out again and it worked after that but broke within a few months. Third repair, different repair man, he came out twice. This was all within ONE YEAR. We only had a one year warranty. The last repair was a week before our one year warranty was up. He came out, the next day it leaked again. The people from LG said 'sorry your one year is up'. Seriously, you DIDNT FIX IT!

So they stalled until the one year was up, even though they were in the middle of repairs they didn't continue to fix it. We now run our dish washer with pans under the door to catch the water that leaks onto the floor. Wonderful.

DO not even consider getting this piece of junk.

Run, don't walk away from this piece of junk. We paid three times what a new GE would cost and our old one laster 10 years. The cheap plastic rack and silverware holder broke within months. Dishes did not clean and cloudy glasses. The LG LDS5811BB was a big fat waste of $800!

The LG LDS5811BB does not clean dishes very well. There is a problem with the door getting too hot on the inside and causing a wiring problem in the door after a while. Iv've had mine about 2 years now and I think its days are numbered.

I, Like the others , have had the same problems. It does not dry, rack rusted, rollers broke, now the door leaks.. I am just glad I bought the extended warranty from Fry's.
The repair man has been out 3 times, and the dishwasher leaks more than ever.

Have owned LG LDS5811BB for 8 months and am having service man for 2nd time. Dishes do NOT dry. For six months they were dry and steam came out of unit when the door was opened. That stopped after 6 months. They're excuse was not enough rince agent. Well I tried for the next 3 weeks and it still doesn't dry. So he's coming again tomorrow.

Will not reccomend this washer.

Although LG has slick advertising and nice products, I would NOT recommend purchasing any of their appliances. We also have an LG refrigerator where every plastic part is breaking and naturally beyond its warranty period. I do not recommend the LG LDS5811BB

written by camikegrant on 12/09/2008

I purchased the LG LDS5811BB dishwasher, range, microwave and refrigerator because they all looked nice together - modern looking. However, do not buy: Two years later and 3 motors later - my dishwasher has broken for the last time (Ice maker has also broken on refrigerator). I am looking for another brand. If you actually intent to use these sub standard appliances with any regularity, I would look elsewhere.

Most of the gaskets deteriorated leaving sticky black residue on our dishes. This began only 10 months after the unit was installed. The drain would get clogged often and the main seal leaked. The wheels fell of the first time we used it. I hate this product, please don't even consider this dishwasher.
2 years later, the last 5 months of which we spent hand washing our dishes, we are out over $600 dollars!!
