I rented a car from Thrifty this weekend and I had to wait one hour and a half queueing to get the car. Before renting the car, I wasn't told that I had to pay a 200 euro deposit for fines (I rented a car once before from them and that wasn't a condition). The staff i dealt with were very unfriendly while i was filling the form. And they charged me 10 extra euros for paying with a card, VATs and i don't know what else.
Really poor service. I won't rent a car from them again.

Customer Service. Good selection of cars. I was very happy with the service I got. I rent a number of times a year from Thrifty and I will continue to do so.

Thought the service at the Dublin City Center offices for Thrifty Car Rental were excellent. All the other companies advertised city center locations, but some were merely locations near their Dublin Airport depots. If you are looking for a car rental in Dublin City Center, look no further.

I have rented from Thrifty in Ireland many times and have always found them to be one of the better car rental companies in Ireland. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Flew from East Midlands Airport UK to Dublin. Flight was quicker than the time it took Thrifty to serve us and drive us to our hire car by bus a couple of miles away. Definitely one to avoid.

I was very happy with the service. I was able to pick my car up very quickly and the return to the airport was very efficient.

Avoid Thrifty unless you can tie down price and know exactly what is included. Road test car immediately you get it and return it if not running properly.

My husband and I went to Houston, Texas and reserved a car from Thrifty. However, when we arrived there in the middle of the night (2 am), there is NO CAR. He said that all of them are rented this afternoon due to a conference that was going on that day. Well...we and other 2 couples were asking...then, what's the reservation for? If it's not guaranteed. Then, rudely, he said...if you are not happy, you can LEAVE now, I don't care. We are like...WHATTTT???? Is this a joke or what? Finally afte ...

Pick up from Thrifty Car Rental was dreadful the member of staff didn't seem to know what she was doing. It took her ages to find the paperwork on our rental even though we did it over the net. We were then rushed through to get us away and we didn't check the state of the car as we should have. We got charged 500 pounds sterling for that! If you use this company I would recommend taking out excess insurance. To decrease the excess costs more that the hire of the car in most cases!

Tried to rent a compact car from Thrifty. When I questioned why they wanted to put a 250.00 hold on my credit card for a 78.00 rental fee I was hung up on.

I have rented a car from Thrifty at Vancouver International Airport. I chose this as it offered the car at a very low price. I had no problems with the car until I went to return the car after two days. At the time of renting, I declined any insurance as I had my own. The guy never came to the car and he told me to inspect if there are any damages. He also told me that there were scratches on the bumper and never to care about that. I took his word and never looked at the contract, what he put o ...

After driving for 3 days on mountain roads, in very windy and foggy conditions we discovered that the brake pads were worn, so that the brake disks were badly scored. We felt very unsafe and had to waste 4 hours of our vacation getting the brake pads replaced. We felt that we should have had some compensation for our time but that was not forthcoming from Thrifty. Had the brakes totally failed while we were driving in the mountains, we could have gone over the side of the mountain with fatal ...

Thrifty offer a horrible service. Very rude people at the counter. They are out to strip you of your money. I do not know how long they will continue to exist if they have such bad policies. I have had a better experience with Enterprise Car Rental.

Two months after the rental they suddenly charged over £130 to my credit card. No notice, no documents, no explanation, nothing. I had to get a charge back. I have since seen other reviews suggesting that this type of fraudulent activity is a routine practice for them. Take heed and steer well clear.

I would not recommend this company unless you like waiting a long time. I can't comment on the condition of their cars because they did not supply me with one. It is probably worth paying a small amount extra to use a company that actually has an office at the airport. There were around 7 hire car offices at the airport so most of the major ones have an office there.

Thrifty Car rental is really bad. I booked a fantastic car in Florida for 2 weeks at $219. A bargain I thought! The car was lovely. However, the experience was terrible.
I arrived at Thrifty where the staff member struggled to put two English words together, then I was given the keys, and that was it. I wasn't even shown the car or how it differed from the UK cars. Luckily, I had been to the US before and knew my way around. Thank god it wasn't my mother. She would have had a panic attack.

Be sure to read all the numbers on the contract. If you don't, Thrifty Car Rental just add insurance without you knowing it and before you know it, you'll be paying double what you were quoted. They got me when they gave me a free upgrade and flirty sales people but failed to tell me they were charging me a $20/day insurance. They just circle things on the contract and ask you to initial and sign. I didn't think I'd be decieved this way. Also, the car they "upgraded" me to was from a 2006 Ki ...

A very bad experience. I hired a car in Italy with Thrifty (Called also Italy by Car). After two months from the hiring, without any notice they charge my credit card of 50 euro, they say something went wrong with the car. I still have not any document concerning with this, they just took this money from my credit card... be careful they are not honest and not professional, nobody can use a customer credit card without autorization.I still don't know for what I paid for. I had to change my credi ...

Hired a van in Manchester (UK) and found Thrifty Van Hire to be fantastic. Good price, new van, great service. Deposit immediately refunded. No messing about. Highly recommended.

Booked a Thrifty Bravacar in Madeira. Car was very dented and three of the tyres were down to the wear markers. When I returned my car, an Irish gentleman returned his with the comment to the staff that it had no odometer and no brakes. He was using the gears to slow down.
Although listed as on airport parking, it is in fact a five minute drive away.
