I placed my order for a Mazda 6 TS2 diesel through New Car Discount in October 2009 and collected it in November 2009 from their Warrington offices. I have to confess I was nervous about the process having read the reviews of their service before the change of ownership / management but was reassured by the answers to questions I got from Nick Ainley who was my contact throughout the process and dealt with the relatively minor problems associated with processing my order; I'd have had the car sooner had I not wanted a colour they didn't have in their stock of cars and it took a while for it to be built to order. He kept me posted with regular e-mail updates and the occasional phone call. The price of their car beat my local Mazda dealer easily and I got a fair trade in for my old Mazda 6 which I handed over when I collected the new car, preferring to be the first to drive my new car on the open road rather than having it delivered.

The cars they offer are bought on a bulk discount arrangement with the manufacturers and one of the conditions of the sale to NCD is that the V5 is retained by them for 6 months to prevent cars being dumped on the market at prices which undermine the dealer network. I've always been the registered keeper of the cars I've had so this was a little unsettling for me but having checked with the DVLA they confirmed that registered keeper isn't the same as legal owner and the fact that I got an invoice from NCD for my car was sufficient legal proof of ownership. I've delayed submitting this review until the process had run its course and NCD arranged the transfer of the V5 to me after the 6 month period was up. You might find insurance companies struggle with the idea of a non-business policy holder being the owner but not the registered keeper of the car so you might want to check before you buy; the obvious analogy to give them is that of insuring a lease car where you aren't the owner or registered keeper but are the main driver.

Given my experience of working with NCD and Nick in particular, I'm surprised by some of the more recent negative reviews on this site, but you can only speak as you find. I'd have no qualms about going back to NCD in future on the assumption they keep their offers competitive.

I bought a band new Fiat Bravo 1.4 T-Jet from new car discount, saving around £2000 over what the dealer could offer. The vehicle did take a while to arrive but this appeared to be fiat's fault, not new-car-discounts. Throughout the entire transaction communication was excellent with all my emails being answered within 1 working day. However please be aware that when purchasing some makes of car though this firm, (such as fiat) you will not receive the V5 document for up to 4 months. This worried me a great deal at first but I was reassured by the folks at new car discount and, as promised, the V5 arrived 4 months after the car was delivered. The V5 shows me as the second owner (as would be the case if you purchased a car pre-registered car from a dealer) but this is a small price to pay for the savings I made on the purchase price.
