Good Points: Accurate for a spring rifle with eley wasps. easily upgraded for power. I like the weight it makes it steady to shoot freehand.
Bad Points: Heavy trigger needs tweaking.
General comments: I paid 10 pounds for my airsporter in 1976. It still leans in the corner today and accounts for many magpies and jays annually.
I added a square section spring and had an aluminium piston turned up for it. The power increase was considerable and regularly drills jays right through out to 40 yards. When I was younger it accounted for countless rabbits and even the odd hare. Couldn't and wouldn't sell it.

I had that gun for years and still would if someone had not nicked it. It never let me down hit most of the things i aimed and they seem to last for ever.

I bought a new Airsporter S in the early 80's and still have it, I've replaced the spring / washers a couple of times but it is still going strong and is in lovely condidtion. Although it's a bit on the heavy side the gun was built to last.

For the last 12 years i have been using pcp rifle and now have quite a collection but a few weeks back I had a go on a freinds
Airsporter and fell back in love with springers so I had to have
one its taken me several weeks but I finaly got hold of a mint
Airsporter and all I can say is wow.
I have coupled it with a Hawke 3.5-10x50 endurance scope I had to alter the rear mount so the scope went far enough back to miss the loading port leaver but other than that its near perfect out to 30 y ...

BSA Airsporters guns are really good. I went out with this one and shot some targets. I found it very accurate and powerful. This is a really nice gun. I looks and feels great.

The BSA Airsporter has plenty of power, is well built and will last years. It is however to me a little on the heavy side. I have had my BSA airsporter for 7 years now and its never let me down. What more can you want from an air rifle.

My Airsporter is a Mk1 from the late 1950's which I picked up for a bargain £40 as a replacement for my original '70's model that my dad decided to sell!!
It's a little older than me by a few years but it's performance is faultless (unlike mine!)

Does the job!! I have owned one for 15 years, you can easily make a mistake with scopes, like picking one to powerful.

I have owned this air rifle for about twenty years. This air rifle has never failed to perform beyond my expectations. You cannot find craftmanship like this on any air rifle today. I own a top of the line Beeman R-1, and will always shoot the BSA ahead of the Beeman. I have looked for a air rifle that measures up to the BSA but as yet have not found one.
My BSA looks exaactly like it did when I purchased it. The Walnut and the metal show no signs of wear!

The BSA Airsporter is one of the most characteristic and best looking air rifles on the market. I got given a .22 Airsporter S, made between 1979 and 1983, and it still shoots as well as the day it was made. It even has the brilliant design innovation of having the muzzle recessed and a much larger second "muzzle" visible, making an air rifle look like a high-power firearm.
As mid-range spring piston air rifles go, I firmly believe it's one of the best available. It has a smashing, crisp t ...

I owned an airsporter for many years. It was one of those put away guns that hardly saw light of day. However, if target shooting is your bag then go for it. Once used to the kickback (which is surprisingly big considering its engineering) this gun can perform. The power is all well and good but shots do tend to be erratic due to the kickback. From an engineering point of view its a classic BSA and its finish second to none.
My Sporter was the .177 version and I had many happy hours plinking wi ...

I've always fancied an airsporter because of their good reputation.
I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the one I recently acquired.
I wanted a rifle for general pest control with open sights for fast target acquisition.
Although it can hit a pellet tin at fifteen yards it hasn't lived up to the hype in terms of extreme accuracy - it's hard to hit 'groups'.
Having said that it did only cost £50.00 and neither me or the rifle are that young!
A service might make all the di ...

Bought my (very second hand) 1957 Airsporter for £3 when I was 14 years old (40 years ago). Have put tens of thousands of rounds through it. Very accurate with the open sights. I am convinced that my accuracy began to suffer as I got more guns. When I only had the Airsporter I got so used to it that I hardly used the sights at all - it was practically an extension of my arm. As a result I was the scourge of the local vermin populations. Have had it out again recently and it's as good as e ...
