A unevitable experience which can happen to anyone when you are traveling with Etihad Airways. Bad part is it is at no mistake of passanger. This airlies promisses about good service but when situation comes, ground staff is horrible. After a short trip to Philippines, will on the airplay ready to depart for middle east. The flight attendant summoned me to moved me on my assigned seat to accommodate a British national, who happened to have a same seat number with me. In a loud voice if I don't give up my seat the plane will not depart, it was an embarrassing experience to other passengers. To avoid argument and to avoid humiliation I decided to moved. (read more)

We travelled from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi and then onto Sydney. At Abu Dhabi we decided to upgrade to Pearl Business Class and what an amazing experience we had. Excellent staff and your own pod area which turned into a wonderful bed. The food was very good and you could chose what and when you ate. I don't see much difference in the economy class quality than other airlines, but food is often delayed if you are transferring you might not get food at least for 5 or 6 hours, it takes them at least 4 hours to give you something to eat. My flight from US to Abudhabi was the worst flight and unfriendly and very rude staff. . From the initial check in counter till the exit I had the worst nightmare. At the check in counter- the arrogant staff held me stating that I cannot carry my certificates with me . I had 2 bags (1) laptop bag and second with my certificates and 1 pair of dress. Flown with Etihad for 6 years and never again now. had nothing but problems booking flights on the website over the last 2 week, charged me and took my flying points bot no confirmation. called several times to the call center Abu Dhabi and London and get the same response, the put the phone down on you, promise yo call you back and nothing. Food was super tasty, not like air plane meals at all! Yummy pizza and a wrap. I even got offered an extra after my meal as some were left over. One of my flights was half empty and the flight attendant told us to pick where ever we wanted to sit, wooo. Blankets were soft and didn't smell weird. Got an extra pillow :) Crew was nice. Customer service is appalling. They ignore your complaint or refuse to answer your questions. Complaints are not dealt with . Buying direct from Etihad is way more expensive than going to a third party. Airmiles and loyalty are not rewarded. Forget using airmiles to upgrade its impossible. Over priced - poor service. I recently tried to book flights on Etihad's website. The website said that there was a problem with the transaction and that I can be assured no charges were made. I attempted to book the next day and the same problem occurred, so I kept trying a few more times. Then I tried to book on another website and I was declined because my credit card was maxed out!! I never seen a worst Airlines like Etihad..always Etihad is delayed and I will miss my connectivity flight. But from the Transfer desk, full of irresponsible answers and they are not helping us for further move. On the 26th September myself and my partner, who is an Etihad silver member booked return flights from Sydney to Dublin flying February 20th. I have since been diagnosed with a malignant melanoma which required immediate surgery. Under medical advice we revised our departure date and delayed until February 27th. It was my first time to fly with Etihad Airways and the experience i had was the worst. It is realistic to have one flight delay, but not having 2 or 3 delays on one journey and coupled with flight cancellations! Extremley helpful when travelling with disabled children! We travelled to Sydney with our 3 young boys, one of whom is autistic spectrum. They made sure at all times he was satisfied, and really understood how to comunicate with him. When a meal didn't arrive on part of the flight every effort was made to accomadate us and give us replacements. With my ASD sons dietry needs, they made a point of giving him plenty of extra options, above and beyond what we had ordered for our inflight meals. (read more)

Flew out of Melbourne on 28 September to fly to London returning on the 28 October bit nervous about flight after reading reviews but was pleasently surprised they were great, flights on time great sevice, food was nice, nothing to complain about plenty of leg room seating comfortable staff were allways walking up down handing out drinks food will be flying with them next year when we go back to England. lost count of how many times I have contacted Etihad Airways about my problem, I've wasted a lot of time, money and energy on trying to get them to fix their mistake, and so has my husband.
I live in Perth, Australia. I purchased a ticket for my husband for flying from KL to Baghdad online on Etihad's website. I used my debit credit card. When I booked his ticket, it told me that because he isn't the card holder, he will need to show a copy of my credit card. His flight was supposed to be for Saturday 1st of Dec2012. He got the copies and showed the check in officer and they did not accept it, I even talked to them on the phone and explained and they told me to call the Etihad office in Abu Dhabi. When I called the office it was closed. Someone from the check in crew, a man told me that Etihad can only accept the original credit card. This is injustice and has wasted very valuable time due to the fact that he had to book a hotel and miss the interview he needed to go to Baghdad for. The fact that their website description stated that "If the traveller is not the card holder, the traveller needs to show the original or copy of the card". I don't understand why no one is contacting me back. This is very bad customer service. If I had read their information on their website wrong, then I'd understand, but it clearly states "If the traveller is not the card holder, the traveller needs to show the original or copy of the card". What is the point of their system allowing someone to purchase a ticket with a credit card that is not under their name if they don't allow it?
He has now purchased another ticket because in their KL office they told him to pay for the ticket and that they will refund him. I called their Sydney office, and they also told me that my husband can get a refund if I get in contact with the Abu Dhabi office. No one is contacting me back.
This has gone too far. I can't believe how ridiculous their customer service is. One of their workers, supervisor told me to contact her, but every time I do, she leaves me on hold for over 15 minutes and never gets back to me. I call from Perth, Western Australia, do you know how much money I have wasted on my phone bill?

Changed my departure date through their call center, got charged and got a confirmation from the bank. Fast forward to the date of departure I was told to go see the ticketing department. The lady told me you need to pay and i promptly told her I already did. We went back and forth for 30 minutes up until the point to where I was told the check in counter is closing soon, so basically I was told I either pay the penalty (which I already paid) or I stay here. The treatment you receive on Etihad is based on your race and ethnic origin. Black forget it afriki, White - you are God, Indian Hindu- slum dog, Far East - cheap sluts. I agree with most things said here. My laptop weighs 5.4kg, add the bag, we are talking 8kg. They refused to allow it on. I had to put the charger in my baggage, and to top it off, I got charged for over-baggage then (was pushing 26kg at this point, charger is 2kg alone). We just took etihad for our last trip from Geneva to Seoul and had a very poor experience. The plane was brend new and the service standard but far from the exceptional they promote. What was howver very bad is the lack of communication and help when our plane back was delayed. I had my return flight back to Sydney last Thursday and had a horrible experience at check in at Kuwait airport. I am 31 wks pregnant but am very fit and doctor issued a medical certificate confirming that there's no issue for flying. There were two issues. First of all, I put my luggage on the belt to weigh. I have used Etihad twice now and i'm using them again in October 2012, so far i have been very pleased with their service and value for money. I travel to South Africa from the UK about two times a year, i always try and book a well known airline to travel with as its a long haul flight. My son bought a watch Duty free on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Sydney - the watch cost $230 - and once he got it, we could not get it to work - it was one of those strange digital ones. I flew Etihad Airlines from Chicago to Chennai with stopover at Abu Dhabi in Jan 2012. Etihad airlines in very particular on the weight of the baggage both check in and carry on's. My carry on luggage was over by 1 pound and they said that I would not allow it. Bad Points. Flew from Heathrow to Saudi Arabia March 2012. My seat was changed upon boarding where I specifically booked online for an aisle seat due to my height. Upon boarding my seat was changed to a middle seat where I had no leg room and cramped for the entire journey. Staff were unfriendly and didnt care less. It was our first time travelling with Etihad. Etihad organised a driver to collect us at home; he arrived on time and helped us with our luggage. No problem booking in at Heathrow, with very polite helpful staff. We were business class so the fast track was a joy! Having heard lots of good comments on Etihad, my husband and I decided to try this airline last year. We flew economy from Brussels-Jakarta, via Abu-Dhabi. Alas, we had more bad than good experiences with Etihad. I flew in Feb 2010 from Munich to Abu Dhabi and from Abu Dhabi to Kathmandu. Both flights were absolutely perfect. When I booked they refused my crdit card twice but when I checked with the card company they had taken the money. Several 'phone calls later they had it sorted and gave me 5,000 miles for all the trouble. Felt the need to write a review on Etihad's economy product. First up they are great for business travel as you are provided with a USB port and a power socket even in Economy. This is huge for me. I also found the leg room good for someone of my height (6"4). However, what really set it apart was the quality of food. Manchester-Abu Dhabi-Brisbane return. Very poor service. The problems encountered included the following: 1) on the 16 hr flight The Air conditioning being on far too high to the point of discomfort. Passengers were freezing and asking for several blankets which they enevitably ran out of. I have been flying internationally for 41 years and my recent experience on Etihad was the worst EVER!! All up we took 4 flights (2 to NYC and 2 back). I have flown on many occasions to Australia and used Etihad in 2007. The seats were comfortable, the flight was on time. The transit through Abu Dhabi was reasonable ( i transitted through the old airport and believe it has since been upgraded). Food was OK for airline food. What do people expect? I have had the same problem. I have been charged for multiple tickets even though I only received one. I wrote to them to inform them of this problem and they have not even bothered to get back to me, even though they owe me nearly £1000.00!!
