Very pleasant experience with Icelandair, for a cheapish ticket could not really find fault. Good modern plane, nice entertainment kit, easy online checkin with bag drop. Alcohol and food are extras.

There's not a lot of choice when it comes to flying to Iceland.
As a result, even though Iceland Air is a regular operator and not a cut price one they still charge you for a beer on the plane. They wanted to charge me £20 for my golf clubs at check-in even though there was no mention of it on their website. Travelled with Icelandair to Iceland last year. Helpful staff but the food was dire.. It was a cold sausage and a "potato salad" that looked and tasted bad. Plane was only a 737 so lacked the sophistication of a jumbo but this had its up sides too. Eg films were provided on individual lap-top DVD style players but these gave a choice of 8 films pre-loaded which you could start and stop at your own convenience. Also small business class cabin (16 passengers) contributed to the extremely personal service.

We visited Iceland for a weekend. Their aircraft are modern, though if you wanted a glass of wine you would be charged for it. Perhaps this had something to do with the price of alcoholic beverages in Iceland. I imagine this would be a great way to fly the Atlantic though as they include a tour to the Blue Lagoon, which is magnificent and must be a great way to relax before continuing the journey. Swimming in bath hot water whilst surrounded by snow and ice on a November day was a treat to remem ...
