Good Points: It was a good holiday. Some amazing scenery. Very friendly people in our group
Bad Points: Organisation. Hotels changed. Itenary altered. Some people had different programme to others.
General comments: Booking was a disgrace. Tickets for the coach from home and back did not arrive.

Go to any travel operator for same/better service. SAGA seem to have lost interest in travel. Perhaps their clients should lose interest in SAGA.

The Gran Hotel in Spain was definately the worst hotel I have ever stayed at Saga should pull this hotel out and refund everyone who spent 4 star money staying in a 2-3 star hotel. Appalling!

Last year island hopping in canaries very good. This year island hopping in Caribbean not so good. The hotels were not up to sagas usual standard. Rep over the top with everything. Rude to local tour people, spoilt our boat trip.

Our tour group to New Zealand all seemed to have a nightmare tale of missing tickets, hotels not booked, flights which didn't connect, not being met at airport. We bonded over disaster stories when we eventually all arrived in Auckland and I'm now getting emails from fellow travellers who had a chaotic journey back to the UK via extension tours.

Saga used to be very acceptable until Roger De Haan sold out, but its brochures descriptions have always been somewhat poetic and, in my many experiences and others, used and still does use remote hotels. They usually look after those who need help quite well, but rarely allow flexibility for those of us who like to use their excellent hotel and flight deals but who wish to be free, and not treated as a member of a school party. I have been on many Saga tours, and they were mainly excellent ap ...

The saga holiday group have looked after the people till they sold out and lost its way, from family run to just another holiday firm. From airport to hotel and return to the UK well looked after, plenty of the reps., all willing to make your holiday the best. Dec 07, sent letter confirming booking details and cheque, for holiday in Apr 08. Also telephoned the day it was posted, saying leaving in one week for three weeks holiday, so would not receive confirmation till Jan 08, but found changed a ...

Mainly the late (or even non) arrival of travel documents and the fact that I was told the ticketing department had a huge backlog but nevertheless had left the office at 5 P.M. What wort of a business is this???. The actual holiday has yet to be rated ---- if we manage to get there at all.

Due to ongoing engineering works on the West Coast mainline we envisaged a hellish journey from Lancashire to London on August Bank Holiday Monday. We asked them to make a cash adjustment and cancel the included rail journey in order to make bookings for shuttle flights to Heathrow. I may just as well have banged my head into a brick wall for all the good the response has been. Saga Holidays are supposed to be for older persons and one would hope that they treat their clients with respect. W ...

Saga either doesn't care about losing business, or they need a really good wake up call at their customer service dept. Holidays are excellent but what a palaver trying to book or pay over the telephone.

Sent reminder for payment of Balance out the same day as the final demand, forcing us to pay a credit card administration fee as no time to transfer money to pay by cheque.
When holiday canceled by them (Kenyan political situation) took over a month to get our money refunded, despite multiple phone calls. The promises from the customer services centre were never actioned until we contacted ABTA. The credit card administration fee was NOT refunded.

E tickets and final itinerary arrived on the day of departure with change of local flight time (discovered only two hours before the flight left).
Poor service from the holiday sales team.
Excessive unnecessary brochures and communications keep arriving, but tickets for booked holidays should be given top priority.

Despite various problems, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our second trip (first was 1991, just before the war) to Croatia. Problems were either British Airways related, or health related, neither of which were Saga's fault, though it should be said that in both instances Saga were actually extremely helpful.
Overall, we think the holiday was good value for money, well-organized and most enjoyable - we missed the expected highlight to Dubrovnik (thanks to BA), but will probably catch that ...

Saga seems to be getting a bit of stick here! We first went with them to Sri Lanka in 2006, and had a good time despite problems on the tour. The trip to Nepal this year was very good, although one guide was poor. I agree in thinking that Saga are not always very well organised, as a company, but they always strike me as being well meaning, decent value for money. Talking to co-travellers, many of whom use Saga regularly (2-3 times a year), the general view is that they offer good holidays, well ...

As this was a reasonably cheap late holiday booking, my husband and I were delighted with Saga's compensation to us for changing our hotel and for the inconvenience we suffered. Having travelled to London from Glasgow to get our flight, we were pretty tired by the time we got to Lanzarote. Discovering we were not going to where we had booked could have been upsetting, but as this was our first trip to Lanzarote, it did not bother us too much. As it was we were delighted with the beautiful Iberos ...

I have travelled regularly with them since retirement in 1988, and since the sale of the business some 2 year's ago, I have commented/complained about a general lowering of standards. I have cancelled my latest booking, as an advertised 8 night holiday is in fact only for 7 nights, and I have been waiting for over 2 weeks for an explanation, which, these days, is unfortunately to be expected.

Saga are disorganised and they subjected their customers to disgraceful conditions. I wouldn't use them again, there was a litany of mistakes on the holiday. They changed departure and return dates, without consultation. They also changed the category of accommodation we stayed in and didn't tell us.
