I like the radio feature and the use of use. Keypad good for one hand dialing. Wouldn't buy this phone again and I wouldn't recommend it to others due to the following points. My contract isn't even up yet and my phone has stopped ringing, the screen turns white at will. Really a disappointment since the last phone I had I used for four years. Dont go for the Nokia 5300.

I wanted to gift my wife a new phone, and the requirements from the phone were basic. Symbian for the UI, USB Connectivity, expandable memory, a decent camera (1.3 MP+) and a decent looking phone considering women are far more conscious of form factor. So I went in a bought a Nokia 5300 which has comes in a red and grey. Surprisingly it is packed with all the features a basic phone should have. Edge, Bluetooth, IR beam, 320x240 display. And being a series 40 3rd edition its much faster then the other phones.

What's the verdict: Brilliant (except for average battery life)
Pros:
Symbian 40 phones, being simpler, are much faster than their Symbian 60 cousins.
Basic features like number duplication warnings make your life much easier.
This is something that neither the NSeries nor the ESeries offer.
A BRILLIANT PC Suite and USB Connectivity.
Backing up the entire phone has never been easier.
I've been known to curse Nokia for the poorer versions of their PC Suite and compliance / connectivity issues with their phones over Bluetooth/ IR but from all the handling of this phone & the new suite , this version ROCKS.
The ability to backup every bit of information on your phone including messages, contacts, images etc by simple drag-drop mouse commands.
A crisp camera and 256 Memory Card.
Dedicated easy access buttons for music and deep base earphones. You can use your external speakers also and they sound much better. It also has an additional pin to add after-market headphones.
Its works as a USB flash disk, and its so easy to use with Windows XP.
So sharing your pictures and saving them is a piece of cake.
My wife surprised me with her ability to use the phone.
She clicked our snap with the timer during Christmas and took the phone with the USB to the Kodak Photoshop and took a print of it and framed it for our dining room.
I think it's a great buy at 11k.

Nokia 5300 is a musical surprise to the ones with an ear to beats and tunes.

At prima facie, the 5300 Xpress Music is a slider phone of 3.6 by 1.9 by 0.8 inches. The picture-perfect QVGA display measures 2 inches (320x240 pixels) and supports 262,144 colors. Smoothly sliding up the front face reveals the keypad buttons. Spacious and brightly backlit, the individual buttons are raised above the surface of the phone for ease in typing when one is not looking at the piece.

The simple but attractive menus are also a treat to view, and the best part is that Nokia provides a description of unfamiliar applications if you hold the cursor over the corresponding icon.

It's got excellent music controls. Lining the immediate left side of the display are dedicated music controls that give easy access to the music player. Once inside, you can play, pause, fast-forward, and rewind your tracks. Just insert a 2GB memory card and voila! you've over 1500 tracks to swing on.

The added features include full Bluetooth with a stereo profile, an infrared port, a speakerphone, PC syncing and a mini-USB port too! Other standard offerings include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a voice recorder, e-mail and instant messaging, an alarm clock, a calendar, a to-do list, a notepad, a calculator, a countdown timer, and a stopwatch among others.

But the Nokia 5300 has everything we look for a in such a phone. It's easy to transfer files to the phone, it's user-friendly with a simple interface and well-designed controls, it has few restrictions, it offers plenty of memory, and last, but certainly not least, it offers exceptional sound quality over stereo speakers. The player supports, MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA files. And undoubtedly it's the ultimate handset to Xpress Music!!!
