Good Points: Everything

General comments: Myself and my husband went on holiday to Lanzarote in January 2005, and we stayed at Jamble Bermudas in Puerto Del Carmen. All I can say is that we both had a fantastic time there. Puerto Del Carmen is the best place in Lanzarote, and you do not have to be a sun worshipper to enjoy the island, as there is so much to see and do. While we were there, we went on a day cruise to Fuerteventura. On the way there we saw a couple of whales swim right up to our boat, which was one of the highlights of our day. We visited the town of Corralejo, but did not have very long there. We saw some beautiful golden sand dunes on the outskirts of the town. (the old part of the town was lovely), then we had lunch on the boat and sailed out to a defunct volcano called 'Los Lobos'. While we were there, there was a chance to dive off the boat and have a ride on a 'Banana', and myself, my husband plus this other guy, were the only ones brave enough to jump off the boat while everybody else just watched in awe. Next was the 'Banana' ride, which was an amusing, thrilling experience. I have never seen or heard of of one before, therefore we had a go, plus more people were brave enough to take part. We spent a few hours at Los Lobos then sailed back to Lanzarote.

There are also plenty of places to go to at night. The sea front is packed with many excellent bars (English, Spanish and a German one) and restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice. Our favourite restaurant area was in the old town, where you can sample some local cuisine such as paella and some Sangria, which is a must. On another day, we did the Grand tour, which was a guided tour around the whole island. We visited the 'Timanfaya national park', which is full of volcano's, with one still being active. When we climbed to the top of the volcano called 'The mountain of fire', we were given some fire burning demonstrations, then one involving a 20ft jet of steam from the earth's core after a man had tipped a bucket of water into the hole, which was a spectacular scene. There is also a restaurant on the volcano itself, which uses the natural volcanic heat to cook the food; clever eh? We then travelled to La Geria to sample some local wines. The best tipple was the honey wine. It tasted the best compared to the others. Next up, we went to 'Jameos del Agua y Cuevas de los Verdes', which consists of lots of caverns and underground lagoons. In one of the lagoons there were thousands of tiny white albino crabs, which can be seen nowhere else in the world. Then we travelled around many pretty villages on the way to 'El Golfo'. While there we saw an unusual green lagoon which is separated from the sea, consisting of 'Olivina' stones which are olive coloured gem stones used to make jewellery. One of the highlights of this tour was the camel ride. My husband was quite scared because he felt as though he was sinking under the camel, and there were not enough sand bags on my side! Plus, we had an angry camel that chose to gallop most of the time. Next, we went to 'Teguise' and had some lunch, and we visited 'Our Lady of Guadalupe church', which was lovely. All in all we had a great day.

We went to Lanzarote for 2 weeks and we were never bored. We chose self catering and have no complaints. Our apartment was very clean and spacious. Plus, the complex had a lovely pool and a bar. The beaches were very nice and never crowded.

We highly recommend Lanzarote,as there's something for everyone.
