WAYN has a new design which personally I prefer and is much more current. Some parts of the site still have the dated pages but it looks like updates are ongoing. It is similar to a lot of stuff you get now, with content going into a grid of boxes, but here it actually makes sense. Turns it into a ready-made travel guide of sorts where you filter depending on what you want to see. (read more)

I came across the previous reviews from a search and have to say I've never had any experiences like that. Yes, i get some people add me as friends/send me random messages sometimes... but then i get that on twitter and facebook too. Nothing particularly different on wayn. Never had any 'bad' problems. wayn isn't perfect but it's not as bad as people before have suggested. Wayn is originally a travel site,but it seems to be plenty of spamers from Africa.I made a lot of friends there to promote my journey from Portugal to Tibet and suddenly my account got suspended.I wait now for an answer from them. My account has been suspended on WAYN and they refuse to answer any of my complaints on support @WAYN.com in spite of I have made many request, which they say will be answered in 24 hours. There is no way to contact anyone on this totally bogus site, nobody ever answers your concerns or anything else. WAYN Started off a decent travel site I gained many new friends. However now you have to have your wits about you as it appears to be changing into a website girls wanting husbands. It has also progressed along the pay for everything path which makes it very expensive if you do become VIP about £12-15 pcm!! I am still a member as I have lots of friends there. I joined Wayn around late 2008. Seemed to be the zenith of the website's popularity. There was lot of interaction and it was bustling with activity. Most members were genuinely passionate about traveling and offering their help and tips if you were coming to their area or destination where they had traveled before. I agree completely. The true "Wayn" is no more. We need a real travel site - like Wayn used to be. How is it possible to completely destroy something that was a shining star in the social network jungle ?

Feels like the owners don't care about their site/community anymore. They seemingly just want to milk as much money out of members as possible before closing the website.
Doesn't take a business degree from Harvard to figure out that members wont stay for long if you make even sending messages to other members to require paid membership. If you want to generate long-term profit you must offer quality service to the members instead of making it worse quality and the same time expecting people to pay more.
Yeah it's sad no site has really risen up to fill the place Wayn left when it went downhill. Lonely Planet has nice forum but not much of community features. Tripadvisor has way too many ads and the interface is kinda messy. Virtualtourist would need serious update to make the site more 21st century. Travbuddy is seemingly losing members and activity for various reasons. Then there's some smaller travel sites but they're in serious need of more members and activity.

Wayn, should not be a site as they suck with their customer service. When I complained about a person on wayn, who was abusive towards me, they just decided to penalize me and not take any action for it and threaten to close my account. But I closed my account as I realized that wayn was not taking action for my complaint against this person and is blaming me instead. (read more)

Good profile setup. They way they gather their info about you at is kind of cool. O.K. layout. Hard,at first to find profile settings to turn off all the emails that you will start to get. Once you get all set up and start making friends, you find out you can't meet them, see who they are, talk to them without becoming VIP member. I would NEVER pay for this type of service. I have never signed up on wayn.com. In January, I noticed two charges on my credit card statement - 1 for $29.97 and 1 for $19.97 to wayn.com. I had never even heard of it until that day. I assumed that someone had stolen my card number, so I cancelled it and disputed the charges which were credited to my account. Interesting comment. How long have you been working for Wayn ? Your whole "review" is simply a copy of Wayn's own presentation of their site. The problem is that nothing here is true. There are no good travel advices anymore. Every travel advice through their "email service" is based on commercials - who pays the most get to send their message to all the members. Crazy. Wayn has nothing to do with good traveling tips anymore. It is simply a giant pool of badly digested travel commercials.

All I have done to find myself on WAYN I've mapped my FB friends.When I logged in I thought it was about travelling. But then I got a lot of friend's request from strangers. Some of them were usual people but some were real scammers. I've checked them and I'm sure now. I reported to WAYN team about them but no results. Not only would I not reccommend WAYN to anyone, but I beleive they should be investigated by the police. When I first joined was inundated with begging letters from scammers. When i surf the WAYN.COM, it is such a safety website as they use the membership system to protect the user. Compared to the Facebook, most of them add friends randomly and they are strangers. It makes me feel annoying.=( Besides, It is a good way to make new friends in different countries and somehow save my travelling cost! I like the concept of wayn.com - the site has a great interface and relatively easy to use. I felt there were slightly too many ads at time but overall this is. A very neat concept to get in touch with people who have been to a destination you are interested in.the messages system works well although I am sometimes receiving messages from unknown sources. I know there are a number of flaws as are listed in the other reviews, but its nothing that a bunch of other social networks bar the big 2 (FB and Twitter) dont suffer from. For making friends outside of your current social circle, it does a pretty decent job in my opinion. (read more)

Women beware! This is NOT a travel sharing site, it's used prolifically by African and eastern men to pick up naive western women. I received dozens of mails from men claiming to be American for whom English was clearly not their first language, using fake photos and fake stories. Some were honest about their country of origin but clearly predatory.
