The Motorola V3688 is compact, stylish and looks pretty. Would make anyone happy. Strong signal. Good communication. Wonderful audible hearing. It doesn't have missed calls or day/month/year presentation on LCD, but it is a good clamshell phone.

I have had this Motorola V3688 phone for three years now and not had any problems with it, I have found most Motorola phones more able to take the occasional knocks ie its been dropped a few times. but it goes on ticking. It has however now become very outdated and the batteries are finally shot. It still looks good except the motorola badges have been stuck back on many times. As Motorola has not brought anything out to update it yet I will have to by some other brand and accept that I will have to replace it every 12-18 months. But will keep this one as a spare.

DONT BUY A MOTOROLA I seriously loved this phone when I first bought it. Then, on the second day I had it, the keypad started playing up. The dealer swapped the handset for me. Sinse then, I have had the phone fixed no less than 5 times for the same reception problem. Incoming calls sounded fine on my end, but you soon found out that the person calling you couldn't hear you. Then, slowly, I stopped being able to make calls. So, basically I had a phone that was good for nothing except sending and receiving text messages, which was ok except there was no ID of who had sent the message - resulting in many trips to the phonebook to search for a number.

If size is an important consideration when buying a mobile phone, you should buy this Motorola v3688. It's not too expensive. But if features are important to you you would be better to find another mobile phones.

The motorola V3688 is a very compact mobile phone, people are still amazed at the size of the phone compared with current models.
The menu system is easy to use, once you get used to it, and the ability to create shortcuts to the most frequently used items is a help.
The phone has an in-built clock with time and date, although there isn't a facility to set an alarm or time and date stamp incoming / outgoing calls.
The phone doesn't use iTap predictive text messaging which makes sending long text messages time consuming.
Early models suffered with a lack of volume from the earpiece. Even with the earpiece volume up full, it can be difficult to hear the caller in noisy places.
The phone has a limited number of standard ringtones and it doesn't allow additional ringtones to be added.
The vibrating call alert is one of the best I've felt! When worn on the belt it gives a real "kick" when a call or SMS is received.
All-in-all a good little phone, however it is now outclassed by the V50 WAP phone and the new V66.

This little motorola v3688 phone is quite worth it but however you can lose this phone easily, cuz it's very light. I lost mine when I went out to play. And this phone doesn't have many features.

If you're looking for style the Motorola V3688 is it in a nutshell. Can't get more stylish. As for performance and features forget it. Although relatively easy to use, it fails on a lot of features that my old nokia handled easier....

Avoid this phone like the plague. Having purchased one of these phones I was very annoyed when replacment after replacment the screen kept on breaking on them. In the end I finally got my money back on it (Thank god). A very very fragile phone with poor features and way overpriced at £179.99 at Virgin Megastores. There are better phones on the market for a lot less. I will never touch a Motorola again.

The phone is remarkable when you see how much technology has been packed into such a small item. The phone automatically attracts you to it when seen in the shop and it is mainly for the style which initially attracted me to it.
I have had no problems with this phone since buying it, some people have mentioned that the silver coating comes off the phone when used a lot, but i have not experienced this because i use the phone with the carry case supplied (make sure that you get one supplied as this will cost about a £10 extra charge!).
No ring tones or anything like that can be downloaded onto the phone so if you are looking for that kind of thing, then look somewhere else.
If you are looking for a stylish phone which sends and receives messages and combines an easy to use interface then this phone will suit you down to the ground.
A novel feature is the ability to record short voice notes up to a total of 3 minutes and also voice activation to call people, although this looks a bit tacky saying a persons name to a phone, try it around anyone you know and you will see what i mean!

Nice mobile phone on the whole, light and small, perfect for the business user. Pretty little functions and lousy SMS receiving. On the whole, i find it a very good mobile phone that meets my needs.

Myself and my mother had one of these mobile phones i sold mine the day i had it and bought a 8250 my mother however kept it for six weeks, until some poor lost and i mean lost soul stole it from her handbag, she was upset i was happy i was able to get her an 8850, I AM GLADE TO SEE THAT PHONE GO
this phone is stupid, i hate it although one of motorola's finest [HAHAHAHAH]
overall the reception is terrible, the features end at your finger tip [ after starting from your finger tip]
It really is a bad mobile phone

I've alway had a passion for small, stylish phones. And this one (actually I own a V3690 which has some ad-ons like voice dial and control and 3-minute voice recorder while design remains unchanged except for a silver stripe on top of the case) has really caught my eyes. It's fantastic in two major ways - first it's very small, second it's very light. For these features it's extremely comfortable to carry in a suit without letting the others know you have a cell phone in your pocket (sometimes you don't know it either..) But that's about it. Features offer just the poor standard and no extras at all (except for the voice control and recorder on the V3690). What's really surprising is the fact the phone can't add name to a number of an incoming SMS, which often puts you in a funny situation when you get a message from someone you appearently know but you just don't know hwo it is and you have to search in your phone book till you find the number (and don't you dare to forget it!!). Anyway, if you want a very small and very light phone with a style that unlike other phone can offer, and don't expect any extra fetures such as callendar, games, alarm, calculator, (and I really could go on and on), then go for it. There's probably no other phone on the market being so stylish and cute. But once you have it, don't expect anything but a phone - that is a device enabling you to call and answer calls (in a real neat case).

From first impressions the little Motorola is definately a stylish phone. The V3688 is very small (but thick when closed) and light enough to lose without noticing. As soon as you flip the phone, it goes downhill from there.
The quality of the plastics seemed to be of poor quality and the decals come off easily. The flip action also felt a tad flimsy. The screen itself isn't too bad in size and has just enough brightness at night.
The main problem of this phone is definitely the menu design. It is an absolute pain to use as you have to go through twice as many commands as a Nokia phone. The menu keys are placed on the top and bottom of the phone and are not clustered together therefore wasting even more time.
Features on this phone are lacking in some areas compared to cheaper phones out there e.g. Nokia 3310. Main features include vibrating alert, voice dialling (which works resonably well), multi-language support and customisable menus (also a pain to setup).
There are a lot of comments about the poor battery performance but I found it reasonable but not good. What was good is the reception, strong and clearc ompared to the others.
Overall this phone is really targeted for the semi-professional person. If you're a teenager looking for style stay away. It's got the looks for a great phone but it is a really disappointing effort.

Ive had many phones in my life and this has got to be the worst. i was playing footy and i sat on the ground then stood up and the phone being so *&^% cracked in the screen. i had to pay 100 bucks to get it fixed.

Awesome in size and weight and full of features

Overall i would give the phone 10 out of 10 because it is a good small phone and it is light weight. They need to improve on the menu system though.

Overal if a teenager buys the phone they will hate it.
But if an older person brought it and was not interested in games and features they would like it just like me.
No phone is worth the money.......Its true
