Some members of staff need more training on dealing with customers. I was suffering with depression and the process took 4 weeks to get me an approval for treatment. I had to ring them many times and when I emailed through their online website, nobody replied to me. More phone calls when I was feeling ill. I have since been told by a customer service person that it is best to ring them than use the online service ! Used my policy for first time very recently . Got the 6 week plan so have to use nhs if can have the treatment within 6 weeks. I would have had to wait so was allowed to use my policy . Staff on phone were always very friendly,and eager to explain and help. Had a little hiccup over getting the authorisation to go ahead with chosen hospital,form wasn't sent out to me but was sorted after about 5 days. In early June I made a formal complaint about the way my recent claim had been handled. Just within the 14 day limit I received a reply. It was riddled with errors. More than a dozen, and whilst the writer couldn't even spell my name correctly, I'm not just describing typological errors. The writer had found that my claim had been badly handled but as either explanation or apology the document was appalling. “First Claim ! Wait for ever !!!”

Waiting to get someone to talk to, on phone, took over 20 mins. Then after all details given, needed the details of GP's referal letter. Got that faxed. But called again after couple of hours to see if received fax & can now get authorisation code ! NO, needed dear also of previous AXA policy details as NONE were found in their records, though the changeover was over 3 months now. I have not been with Health On-line for very long, having been with other providers for 30 about years, and I only moved to them to save money on premiums. The test of any insurance policy is always when you come to make a claim. My operation was at the Chesterfield Hospital in Bristol. The Staff were helpfull and friendly and the accommodation was nice and clean. The food was good although I had to wait a long time for it sometimes. The consultant and anaesthetist were fine, but as this was not their preferred hospital the post operation visits were scarce. Instead the house doctor was from Bulgaria, whose duty rota was to be on duty 24/7 and then return to Bulgaria for a week. I found this a bit… Read Full Review
