    Good Points: Excellent picture quality. This camera is supported under linux as a USB mass storage device. There are no extra drivers needed ( with Redhat 7.2). All the standard linux picture browsers work fine ( I prefer gimp for picture manipulation and and gqview for browsing ).


    Bad Points: Battery life :{. This is not uncommon in digital cameras. Current when browsing pictures on the camera is 400ma, when taking pictures 500ma, and when a picture is being written to memory close to an amp @6.5 volts. This camera does not take pictures while plugged into USB.


    General comments: The D-510 zoom from Olympus is a great little digital camera. I wish it supported USB access as it took pictures... my application is for a high resolution web cam. Olympus does not advertise that the camera is linux compatible and they should be proud that it is. I like the camera overall... it just doesnt do the things I need it to.
