I insure 6 classic bikes with Footman James with a total value of more than £250000. Dealing with Footman James is a total nightmare. I dread the battle of renewing my policy each year; it normally entails 3 or 4 expensive 0845 telephone calls and 5 to 7 letters - simply because they make so many administrative errors. Additionally, their prices increase year by year by far more than I consider reasonable. I have just bought 1 more bike and found the best deal was through Peter D James ...

I have a classic race bike - a Suzuki Katana which was manufactured in 1988 and first registered in 2002. This bike has an agreed value of £10,000 and is not used on the road except at shows thus does less than 100 miles per year.
During the winter my policy lapsed and when two months later I asked the poiicy to be renewed I was told that it would have to be treated as new business and as it had been modified (what classic racer hasn't) they could no longer insure it. I asked why this wa ...

My bike was stolen and damaged beyond repair the day before New Year. I have still not had my claim settled, and it is over half way through April. The offer they have made to settle is way below what it should be, and I have to provide yet more paperwork to support my claim.

Their claims procedure is appalling, and they are of no help in the slightest when making your claim. All Footman James Motorcycle Insurance do is forward paperwork between you and the actual insurance company, which i ...

Sadly, the renewal premium with Footman James motorcycle insurance following the claim was in excess of 200% more than other quotes, and having had only one claim in 25 years of biking I couldn't justify paying so much more for the reassurance of their good claims procedure.
