AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. THEY WILL NOT BE AS CHEAP AS THE INITIAL QUOTE - MY ACTUAL PREMIUMS PER MONTH ARE 4X THE ORIGINAL QUOTE!!!

I turned 16 and decided to buy a moped to take me to school and work. In searched for a quote and found that Dial Direct was the cheapest quote. They were friendly enough when I initially paid for the insurance.

2 months into the insurance problems with my bike have forced me to part exchange it for a new bike. They charged my £30 in admins fees to change the policy over and an extra £25 to insure the new bike.

I requested a cover note so I could register the bike and tax it. I was ...

The insurance and road tax on my car was due for renewal on the same day. It was automatically renewed with the Dial Direct company but they failed to inform/update the Motor Insurers Database so I couldn't Tax my car using DVLA's online service. I couldn't tax it at a Post Office either because you can't download a copy of the Certificate of Motor Insurance from the company's website. So I had to wait for it to arrive by post 5 days ! Absolutely crazy. My advice..find another insurer.

DIAL DIRECT sent me Policy to exclude commuting when specifically requested and suprise suprise wanted more money to cover same . Cancelled Policy and still not received refund four weeks after !!!!!
Staff are dismisive and unhelpful and only say "Oh yes I can see there is a credit on your account and it will be refunded" . After numerous phone calls and false promises still £250.00 out of pocket . Complaint has been refered to the financial ombudsman .

Should have checked this web site before taking out insurance with dial direct . Took out policey online for bike requesting SDP and commuting . When schedule came through 3 days later which I diligently checked to my bemusement I found that it excluded commuting .....
I rang them and the premium shot up to included commuting . I explained that the policy hadn't even commenced yet and was due to start in 3 weeks and they explained that I would have to pay £30.00 admin charge to cancel . S ...

Really bad customer services, Dial Direct Car Insurance try to add costs at every turn. They come up as the cheapest internet quote - you cant proceed with the quote online you have to phone them - they then add loads to the quote doubling the price! I told them to take everything off the cost. They didn't put my pillion passenger insurance on, i phoned up to tell them they did it worng - £25 adminisrtation fee.

I am very much disapointed in Dial Direct Car Insurance.
I have paid my money in good faith and, when I needed them the most, they have just disapear. I have been bounced from one operator to another, to be finaly told I will only have back less than 1/4 of the value of the bike I ensure with them. Plus my insurance been canceled with no reason.
This is a company, I will never insure with them again.

As previous writer, I had the misfortune to have to change my car, at which point I was hammered with various charges and fees and an equivalent yearly insurance fee double what their own web site and other companies were offering. I asked about cancelling the policy instead, and was told that the exact charge for cancelling the policy was such that, surprise, there would be no refund!

Am very glad I never had to make a claim. Will never use them again and would advise everyone to avoid Dial Di ...

Tried to cancel a policy 7 months in to the insurance with Dial Direct Car. Was told that cancelation charges etc equate to the remainding cost of the premium. One adviser listed a whole range of costs and a different one said it was company policy! The new car we had bought was smaller (in engine size) but the quote was ridiculus!

Cut my losses and went with a cheaper insurer.

    AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS

Opened a claim after uninsured driver hit me then i thought i would be better off paying for the repairs myself for saving my no claims but apparently you cant close a claim for 3 years, so i stayed with dial direct for 3 years, after i opened the claim. Closed the claim in jan after customer services told me to call once claim was ended and i could get a premium refund on the exesive payments id been making due to underwriters holding my no claims, only to be sent a revised policy today &poun ...

Had a van insured until someone hit it but as I only had third party cover, I phoned them to make them aware and that I was seeking rectification by the other party. The other party after 6 weeks denied the incident, and I had to sell the van because repair costs were out of my range. I phoned Dial Direct to cancel and was told that because I had made a claim I would have to pay off the whole premium or carry on paying the monthly payments for the term off the policy. After a further monthly pay ...

I didn ' t call to say I would not be renewing until day after renewal date. Told there would be a charge of £20.00 plus 2 days premium. Assumed they would take this from my card.
Heard nothing more until a warning letter came demanding payment for cancellation charge right away, or they would hand matter to debt collection agency. Sent cheque by return of post.
Since then have had three phone calls from debt collection agency. Cheque was cleared from my account 3 weeks ago but two of the ...

The Dial Direct renewal was too much - car insurance - so I changed and told them three weeks before expiry -twice on the phone. They sent two Certificates of Insurance for insurance I didn't want and took nearly £200 more than quoted off my credit card details held from the original insurance I wasn't renewing.I sent many emails to try to sort this before I received the Ins Certs as a letter came to say they would send one within 7 days.I am still not sure if they have returned my money y ...

I have written a previous review for this company in February, saying I had scrapped a car in Oct and still waiting for refund...... well... its nearly April and I'm still waiting. Rang again today to be told that for insuring my car for just over 2 months will cost me over 85% of the total cost. Originally we were advised to put our policy on hold whilst we found another car, asked if this would effect the amount we received back and was told no..... only to be told now that it does and they ...

I had been insured with Dial Direct for 4 years with no claims, I bought a 3year old car, and asked them to insure this.
They quote me over £950 from the current £450 I had been paying for my current car.
I decided to go with another company they quote me £490 for my new 3year old car!!!!
I would of been happy to stay with dial direct but no way was I going to pay this sort of money.
That's when the problems started, they said they were going to charge me a £55 cancella ...

Took out Car insurance through Dial Direct and paid outright for the 12 months. 3 months into the policy and we had to scrap our car. We cancelled the policy and after returning the Motor certificate we are still waiting for our cheque to be returned for outstanding monies - minus all the charges for cancelling a policy! Guess you get the kind of service you pay for, but wont be using, or recommending them again.

I recently received a renewal notice for the insurance on my car, and I paid the quoted amount. The insurance certificate and the paperwork followed soon after in the post. A few weeks later I rang Dial Direct car insurance to get a quotation for a second car I had purchased, but the operator couldn't access my account because the original policy had been 'suspended' - but nobody had bothered to contact me. The operator took my details and promised to contact me the next day. Two weeks later I ...

I'm 37, but I've only been driving since February 2006, and I bought a sports car with a big engine.

I have called Dial Direct customer service a few times, and they have always been polite and efficient. The only thing I did miss was £6 a month they stung me with as payment protection. I have yet to find out whether I can have it removed from my monthly payment.

If you change your policy in anyway expect to pay £20.

The policy seems to cover all the bases, and it is clear ...

I am 50 years old, and I have been driving since I was 17 years old. I have been on my own insurance for 30 years and I have never had a claim. I insured a SEAT with Direct Dial car insurance in September 2003. The premium shot up in September 2004 and again in September 2005. I sold the SEAT (value £5,500) in June 2006 and I bought a Vauxhall (value £2,000). When I contacted Dial Direct to swap cover they said that I had to pay an additional £79 for cover to September (12 week ...
