“good service”

Written on: 08/11/2016 by robindeakin (1 review written)

been using iweb and its older sister halifax sharedealing since they both started and have accumulated enough for my early retirement, never had a single problem with any one of my thousands of deals in its day halifax sharedealing was 12pounds to buy and 12pounds to sell, we thought that was good with iweb you can deal at a 5pounds per deal so you can play the market at a cheaper rate ive always invested for the long term and only sell part of my shares its worked for me … Read Full Review

“Don't touch with a bargepole”

Written on: 09/09/2016 by 231Jenkins (1 review written)

I have to agree with the other reviewers who say the service is dreadful. I recently placed an order to buy some shares with credit in my account. iWeb failed to execute the order saying there was insufficient credit in the account. It turned out they were looking at the wrong account. When I pointed this out they denied it and said the complaint was closed. It certainly wasn't closed from my perspective and I will take the matter up with the Financial Ombudsman. And yes I will look round for… Read Full Review

“Incompetent and I've used them for over 15 years!”

Written on: 21/04/2016 by veMcCleary190 (1 review written)

Its going to be time for me to close down all my portfolios and move away from this company. This was a company that prided itself on customer service and was reasonably innovative. Now I find myself dealing with factually incorrect responses all the time and rude and surly staff who continually contradict one another. This division of Halifax is tanking and these guys are steering the ship onto the rocks. Get your money out of this company run my incompetent fools now. They were cheap for… Read Full Review

“Never had a problem. Fast, simple and reliable”

Written on: 18/04/2016 by MakennaMacKenzie251 (1 review written)

Reading the reviews for this site I am gobsmaked how poor IWEB have been portrayed. I've been a member for 9 years and never had a problem buying or selling shares. I mainly stick to FTSE100 companies and buy and sell shares in the same company regularly. I've had periods where I've not touched the account for months/years and haven't had to pay an inactivity fee. I also buy and sell regularly and have money transferred in out and out with no problems. I would definitely recommend this… Read Full Review

“Avoid”

Written on: 20/11/2015 by Churchys287 (1 review written)

Used them for several years. Online trading in shares is fine. Little to go wrong. But where human involvement is required, I've increasingly found they're often not competent. It has the feel of public sector bureaucracy and inefficiency. Just some examples: several funds they offer can't be bought online due to some glitch. So you have to trade by phone. And they never get round to fixing the glitch let alone indicating the timescale. And they've taken forever to effect a transfer from… Read Full Review

“Get what you pay for”

Written on: 09/09/2015 by beDuggan330 (1 review written)

iWeb add up to two days to the settlement period. The asset's stated settlement begins up to two days after dealing date at iWeb. This means when you sell an asset that has a four day settlement period first thing Friday morning, you might not see the cash in your account until the Monday of the week _after_ next. That's 10 (ten) calendar days. Ridiculously long. During which of course iWeb are skimming the interest from their thousands of account holders. This was all confirmed by their… Read Full Review

“First class service”

Written on: 18/08/2015 by jhnplmr (1 review written)

I have been using this service for many years now, long before they charged a joining fee. I have never had any problems with obtaining an instant quote and they stick to the agreed price. It is easy to check your account and you can have dividends paid into either your IWeb account or straight into your bank. They email you if any notifications are received from the companies you have invested in and are prompt in any follow up required. I was amazed to find all these negative comments, my… Read Full Review

“Terrible”

Written on: 17/07/2015 by imst805 (1 review written)

I would say avoid at all costs! I've only been with them for about a year. You will never get the price you want. At crucial times it either gives you a poor price or goes to negotiated order. You will lose a lot of money with these people as I have. I've just about had enough of them. They're cheap for a reason… Read Full Review

“Transfers unbelievably slow - locked account when we moved”

Written on: 15/06/2015

My wife and I both opened accounts here to transfer our ISAs last year. As were planning to move overseas, I called and confirmed specifically that we would have no problem operating the account with a foreign address. Then, when I advised them of an address change, they froze the account, of course this was after they demanded the 25 quid opening fee. My wife simply cashed out her account, likewise after a 25 opening fee. I elected to transfer to another broker with no such weirdness, but… Read Full Review

should say "this has been ongoing on for months." I've transferred multiple pension and cash ISAs over the years--never has that taken more then a month. iWeb has one fund and cash...what is difficult here?

“Forced to sell at 20% below market”

Written on: 07/05/2015 by Kierra89 (1 review written)

I was using this site for a month or so and encountered issue that my trading partner hasn't had in years, on a different site! For example, iweb didn't give me an automated selling price for 20% of my shares! Which means that I can only opt for a negotiating order, that I have to take without seeing the actual selling price, which proved to be 25% lower than the trading price on that day (that remained unchanged)!!!! Iweb said NT price is beyond their control! Really...? Who did cash the 25%… Read Full Review

“worst of the worst”

Written on: 16/04/2015

I applied for a share dealing account in March 2015 and couldn't get it activated over a month and eventually account was closed instead of solving my issue and dealing with my complaint. First of all, they ask you to send original identity card e.g. Passport, Driving license another original proof of address which is not clearly stated in their letter for identity verification. I sent them an original bank statement and my foreign passport copy and received another letter asking me for a UK… Read Full Review

“good for the cost”

Written on: 12/03/2015 by Yasminf320 (1 review written)

I've been using the service for 2 years. At £5 a trade I t feel it's good value for the service provided. High availability / uptime of the site. Money transfers between iweb & bank performed in time scales they quote. News for shares good be more thorough, but this is available from plenty of other sites. I just noticed account opening fee increasing from £25 to £200, big increase, but a one off charge. Overall v happy with the service & would recommend, plus I feel happy this service is… Read Full Review

“Can't get quotes”

Written on: 12/12/2014 by dwhitebsc (1 review written)

When you decide to sell and you go to get a quote, repeatedly you can not get a quote. Instead you have to opt for a negotiated trade. Did that once and got an appaling price way off the current price. We're talking low numbers here too. There is something very fishy about this web site, if your stock is going to make you some profit, you can't get a quote. As a share dealing service it is utterly useless since you can't actually do any dealing… Read Full Review

“Buyer Beware”

Written on: 10/12/2014 by Linovel (1 review written)

I've been with IWEB Sharedealing for quite a few years now. To be honest, I wasn't that happy with the service - if you're interested in dealing, surely the speed of the trade is essential, but I lost count of the number of times I tried to trade but was told there was a problem and I should contact them by phone - which rather negates the whole idea of speedy Internet trading. Furthermore, the information on their website, although extensive, is also prone to missing the odd page of info here… Read Full Review

“OK ish if you only want to do a couple of trades a year.”

Written on: 23/04/2014

After just a few months with Iweb I got fed up with being sent to NT (negotiated trade) time and time and time again. This is where Iweb wont give you a buy or sell price at that time. Instead you let Iweb supposedly get the best deal they can at the time. What you're really doing is giving Iweb permission to get you a lousy deal, and they will, trust me. For a few quid more you can do much much better. Iweb does not even work out cheap in the long run considering the lousy NT prices. Moved to… Read Full Review

“A terrific start for iweb”

Written on: 10/04/2014 by TruroTrader (1 review written)

I have just opened a stocks and shares ISA with iweb. Prior to this I have used Halifax Sharebuilder for the last nine years and Halifax shares ISA last year. This is the same platform as iweb. I have used Halifax's regular monthly buying plan about a 150/200 times and only did I have a query. Every buy or sell trade I have done has always gone through on the price I clicked on and you can print the Contract note within a minute or two. I probably do some 10/20 trades a year. I opened… Read Full Review

Trurotrader's Response to TruroTrader's Review

Written on: 16/04/2014

I'm not to certain what went wrong here. I use iweb and the Halifax Dealing Service which iweb actually uses. iweb since this Tax Year and Halifax for 9 years

On both services when you go to the dealing section you enter the stock and the amount of shares or cash of what you wish to buy or sell.

When you hit the Buy or Sell button you get a message saying " We are contacting our extensive counter-parties please wait a few seconds". You then get a firm price quote. This lasts for 15 seconds. You accept or decline. If you decline nothing changes but if you accept then you are given a contract reference. If you then click on the reference you can print out the legally binding contract then and there.

This whole process can take less than two minutes - Simples!

I am gradually changing to iweb because the dealing costs are less.

However iweb does not offer a regular purchase option (say £100 a Month) and Halifax does. When you use this service you get the price that Halifax obtains and the deal goes through on that basis but dealing costs are small.

Also if you sell or buy "At Best" you get the deal they got you. The actual choice of how you deal is up to you.

I hope this helps

“Slow trades”

Written on: 05/02/2014 by sebastiz (1 review written)

The trades are really slow. You sell a share at what you think is a decent price and it is executed sometimes hours later with a real risk of losing a lot of money as has happened to me. I suspect that they take the difference as I cant believe that in a computerised world it takes that long to execute a trade. As another reviewer has commented they execute quick but tell you the lower sell value later. I wouldn't trust them. Perhaps this is a platform for the long term investor but its… Read Full Review

Used IWeb for a few years. Tried to sell some shares recently online. Problems with there computer systems unable to give a live market price, problems with their online assistance facility and hidden charges when I completed the transaction, they've also introduced a £25 application fee which they deduct when you first trade. “Share dealing for the 17th Century”

Written on: 24/10/2013

This Iweb/Halifax share trading offer is living in the dark ages still. They seems to think the postal service is a secure and trustworthy service. More so than E mail or even speaking to you their valuable client does not count...that oh so important password has to be sent via the postal service.....OMG!! It does make you wonder how rubbisah this business is when they can not even fathom out the simple secure way to 'securely' get a new client up and running. E mail is the most secure way… Read Full Review

I have held my shares with this company for many years now and I have never had any reason for complaint. Their service is prompt, excellent and despite this is still very good value.

You will find that most of their communications are by email once you have set up your account.

“Example of inefficiency”

Written on: 07/10/2013

Just submitted an application. As already mentioned by some other users I've been asked to reach a branch and show my ID. I ask for a 3 hour permission from work, I go there, waste 3 hours, show them ID and proof of address. After a few days nothing happens. I try to contact them and after waiting hours at the phone I manage to talk with a rude guy who tells me that they did not receive anything (despite having called them when we sent the fax and confirmed the receipt of everything). So then I… Read Full Review
