I have had the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 camera for the past three years and the work I have got out of this basic point and shoot is incredible. Functions are easy to understand, pixel resonation is excellent. stedy shot is brilliant, the 18 - 70 lens thats comes as art of the bundle gives better wide angle funtion than some wide angle specialist lenses. Have had work used in brochures and by various organsations including weddings. Sad thing is that those diehard Nikon & Canon users get a bit stuffy if it's not got the high brand name on it but watch out Sony is here to stay

I Have taken more than 30,000 photos with my Sony A100 and never had a problem. A number of my photos have been pic of the day, and even been shown on SABC 2

I damaged my DSLR Minolta D5 which left me with 4 lenses worth about £2,500 and no camera. When Sony took over I thought that was the end but thankfully they carried on using Minolta fit lenses. They work as good with the Sony camera and the quality of pictures are the same if not better.

Have operated a100 for over a year in the field as a nature photographer and have been delighted with overall performance. Love the legacy lenses from Minolta, and the Sony lenses are good too. Find the burst rate on RAW (6fps) wonderful for catching flying birds and wildlife in action. Autofocus is great, and will not allow out of focus shots when using burst...so, just set the autofocus on spot and use burst for spectacular shots of flying birds, etc.I also find the antishake setup very val ...

Have taken over 10,000 photos with my Sony A100 and find performance very good. Bought the body with standard 10-70mm kit lens and a SIGMA 70-300mm APO DG Macro lens which makes a good combination.

This is a very competent camera, and with posted prices now a tad over £400, it is a real bargain. It handles well and produces great results. The standard zoom lens than is bundled with the camera may not match those of Canon or Nikon's so some owners may want to buy those in Carl Zeiss range. Unfortunately they will be put off by the steep prices and Sony will make the camera even more attractive if they could lower their prices.
