I took a risk going with Slurp as I saw that the reviews weren't too convincing. I've been very pleasantly surprised though! Submitted my order on Wednesday evening, paid for regular delivery, and it arrived on Friday! Good service and they were also the only place selling the wines I was after at a reasonable price. On (virtual)paper, Slurp do stock cracking wines and a good diverse selection. And when the wines do eventually arrive, they have been slurptastic! But couple this with the flaky customer service and the inability to inform you either by e-mail or by any other means as to when your wine will be delivered and if it's been delayed, why it's been delayed, then I'm afraid the overall experience of dealing with slurp is painful. I ordered 6 bottles of wine which were advertised as available for next day delivery. Once the online order is completed a message pops up announcing that an order confirmation will be e- mailed. That never arrived. Because of that I logged into my slurp account only to discover that my wine was going to be delivered in 10 days time. Ordered 8 bottles of wine on a Sunday as a prsent for someone. 8 days later having chased the order it was delivered. It was a suprise to look inside the box and find only 6 bottles of wine and no sign of any explanation as to what had happened to the other two missing bottles. Terrible service. Order was still not dispatched three weeks after I ordered it. Was told this was because one of the items was out of stock. Changed the item and finally the order arrived - but all the wine was different from what I ordered! They say they credit your delivery if it takes over seven days but had to request this. I've been using Slurp on and off for about 2 years. I don't order wine that much but over 7-8 orders I have only had one instance where I had cause for annoyance. I'm surprised so many other people have had bad experiences as I have hardly ever had cause for complaint. Ordered 8 bottles of quite expensive wine for Christmas. Despatched on 20 December - no trackable number - 5 bottles arrived 24 December when it was too late to call them. Their website has been advising guaranteed pre Christmas delivery for all orders placed before 20 December. Shame they couldn't deliver my order from 4th December and in three phone calls have given me three different excuses. Ordered a selection of wines on 16th December with a guaranteed delivery before Christmas. Emailed and left voice message on the 20th - no response. Called again on 24th only to be told they couldn't complete my order even though it was "in stock" on the website. While they have a great range of wine and beer they are very unreliable and have terrible customer service. I deliberately ordered only bottles available for next day delivery yet it took over a month of phone calls and emails to finally get it delivered. I recently ordered 12 bottles of this wine from SLURP at a unit price of £13.50 only to find that it was on offer at a 25% discount at Waitrose. The normal price there is £7.99. I have no pricing information on other wines but this seems exorbitant to me. (read more)

Having read the negative reviews, I refrained from ordering through Slurp. However, it was the cheapest place for my wine, so, I 'risked' it. Well worth the risk (!!)...placed my order on 31st August (Friday) and my bottles arrived on Tuesday 4th Sept. I have bought wine from them about 7-8 times and 80% of time some issue, either with their delivery service or the wine not available although it was available on the time of order. I have to chase my order non stop otherwise not much would have happened. They are good if you have time and patient to wait for your delivery and chase them again and again. This has to be the way to buy wine. Browse in your own time from literally hundreds (thousands?) of labels many of which are available as singles, to create your own bespoke mixed case. Slurp works perfectly for an 'average' wine buyer, but I can see the appeal for wine novice and aficionado alike - the site will take you to some of the world's iconic wines at the best prices, or guide you by style, taste, price etc if you need a helping hand. The thought of tucking into a warm Armagnac on a winters evening brought shivers to my feet. AND I WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED - WOW, WOW. IT WAS DELICIOUS. My one small criticism was that I had asked for delivery on specific day when I knew I would be at home. They communicated very well about delivery, letting me know about a delay, but didn't deliver on the day I has asked for. But this was a minor inconvenience. Many hard to find wines seem to be available on the site and many I have enjoyed in restaurants seem to be available on Slurp when they are almost impossible to find elsewhere. Getting your wine from Slurp is totally different from buying wine online from other retailers or in teh high street. It is a bit like getting an NBF who also loves wine! The website is quite clever in that you can filter in so many ways - by grape, country, type, wine personality, price range...you can get advice quickly on vintages, producers or just what woudl fit your palate or the occasion. They only sent through 3 out of my 6 bottles of wine and I was forced to chase them 2 weeks later at which point they stated that there had been a problem getting stock because of the snow and that they would deliver it when it arrived.

When it works OK, it is fine although a bit expensive, could buy cheaper elsewhere. When it fails to work (as it has done for us this week), the service is shockingly poor. Yes, there are weather conditions to contend with but when we offer to pick the wine up from the courier ourselves and Slurp can't even be bothered to give us the info we need, we count that as incredibly poor service. I have to say that my first experience of Slurp has exceeded my expectations. Their choice of wines is superb and they have wines that I didn't think I would be able to find anywhere in this country. Exactly the same as other reviewers, i spotted the Slurp.co.uk / Groupon deal which on the surface, looked like a good deal. I've used a Groupon deal, I've ordered the wine that arrived more that 2 weeks after I've placed the order.
They've changed 3 out of 6 bottles I've ordered for some or their choice, without notifying that this was happening.
After contacting them to understand why they've changed my order to something else they've proposed a new change and I've agreed.
At the end I've received the wine and it was different from my order and from what they've suggested as a replacement.

I purchased a Groupon voucher that gave me £30 off my order total. I called in and spoke to the head of their sales team and he was very, very helpful. I wanted a mixture of things from the site and although fellow Grouponers had already purchased a huge amount I found what I was looking for.
