Good Points: They recognise loyal customers and will beat any like for like renewal quote!

    Bad Points: Nothing.

    General comments: Great!
I am a young driver so as you can imagine it's really hard to find cheap Insurance.
I first went with NIG when I passed my test and bought my car through a broker. When my renewal came (for the second year) I was shocked to find that Churchill was quoting me over £100 cheaper. I contacted NIG and they beat that quote by £20 - great service in my eyes!

Shocking bunch. I was involved in an accident on june 4 2009. my car was subsequently written off ( £18, 800 10 june 2007 down to £11,700). I returned my documents on, by return first class post on sat 13 june and rang NIG car insurance on thursday18 june to find out where the cheque was. i was told it had been raised that day and would be sent first class that night. having still not arriving on monday 22 june, i rang again and was told the cheque had been posted by 1st class mail ...

DO NOT USE THIS AWFUL AND CALLOUS COMPANY. THEY ARE TRULY DREADFUL.I took my car into a Garage, in early april 2009, to have a problem fixed, and before they were able to fix it my car was stolen, due in part, to there negligence, in not having locked or alarmed it.. After a couple of weeks they told me, that it may be better if I chased the claim, with there insurer (N.I.G), myself. I did so via there broker, and did not know that I was letting myself in for six weeks of Bureaucratic inepti ...

Have insured with NIG for 3 years via a broker and made 2 claims without any problems at all.
They send an inspector to examine car to ensure garages do not overcharge and the claim is legit.
My broker is also insured with them so a good advert.
    Good liaision and communication.
    Can use own local garage.
Protected no claims bonus no matter how many claims made.
Claims went through smoothly and efficiently
Bad points are: Charge for direct debit
Extra charge for legal expenses( £10)
    Not the ...

Very happy with the insurance I have had over the past year, I found them cheapest via Adrian Flux for my modified car insurance.
They even included legal cover up to £50,000.

Have two cars insured with NIG at the same time - very helpfully agreed to let me have two years no claim when bought second vehicle while keeping no claims on the first. Claimed for windscreen on one and this was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Second claim on other car was when it was hit in a car park, claim was sorted and car repaired and back with me within two weeks. Took three phone calls to legal bit to get my excess back but still done within the month. The driver that hit car cause ...

I insured with NIG over the phone through a broker and was given a competitive price. Once I took the policy with them, they wrote asking for another £55.15 (a 25% increase to the original policy cost). This was "because we can't confirm your no claims bonus was for over 9 years". I sent a renewal from my previous insurer that proved I had over 5 years protected no claims - this was lost in their office. My previous insurers assure me that they have had no contact from Adrian Flux (th ...

I made a very straight forward claim. 1 year and 6 months later, still no no success yet. No correspondance or calls from NIG even when I had written to them asking for them to reply. They stated delay of chasing 3rd party due to 'storms in Britain' and that made them busy. Some operators in the claims department with whom I spoke seemed to be trying to shift the blame to other departments. I'm not sure if notes were taken of my phone calls.

The company recommends its policyholders to use Autoglas when there is a claim for broken glass, when in fact you can use other companies and still be covered by the insurance (Autoglas is seemingly the cheapest option for NIG). Having wasted an entire day waiting for Autoglas to replace a rear windscreen damaged by vandals only to be told at the end of the day that they couldn't attend until the following day, I tried to call NIG. After being put on hold for over 30 minutes, I called the number ...

Someone had a false claim against us. NIG did nothing to let us know apart from sending letters later informing us that they will be paying out if they had not hear from us by a certain date, which had already passed. Tried to sort it out but was kept on being passed to other people. Driving history now shows a false claim which has brought the renewal higher!

After receiving all the appropriate information it has taken 8 months to get a settlement figure from NIG, they made up things which i did not say and i even obliged to be interviewed by an investigator. even the investigator was asking my why i went with them and even after the investigator told them that my case was genuine they still refused to pay. every time i called to speak to a manager i got fobbed off to one person or another claiming that they were the manager and now even though they ...

After telling me i was due for a loan car and after me ringing NIG to find out where it was it took 3 week to arrive but on the day it was meant to arrive they cancelled it and told me that i was not meant to have one. When i had the accident I ask if i was entitled to a car and they told me yes ti was false and misleading information was give it seem i have not been the only person with this problem.

Please do not insure anything with this company.
We were the victims of an accident and the other party were insured with these jokers. We have spent 3 months trying to sort out what should have been a fairly straightforward matter.
Whatever you do, find another insurance company.

I was a second policy holder on my mums car insurance for 8 years, and so I hadn't had a chance to build up my 'No Claims Bonus'. I had tried to apply for my own insurance for many years, but because of my age and no 'No Claims Bonus' it proved to be extremely expensive. I am now over 21 years of age and I have still received expensive quotes for Fully Comprehensive cover for the same car. Though I am a careful driver and have had no accidents etc., this counted for nothing with Zurich (to who ...

Being hit by a lorry that failed to stop was actually the least painful or distressing part of the whole claim!

NIG car insurance has made four separate "errors" in dealing with my claim, including forgetting to leave the courtesy car I was promised (leaving me stranded at work). They also took my car off to salvage (despite admitting that they had received my instructions to return the car to me). They were then unable to return it to me for 10 days.

I have complained, and I have now bee ...

I was with More Than car insurance for 3 years, then all of a sudden the rate trebled. Apparently new rating areas came in. My partner works for Swinton, so she contacted the Staff Sales Unit and they gave a competitive quote through NIG, which offered the same Guaranteed No Claims Discount for life, provided I stay with that company. Rates are very good, but I do believe the claims experience of previous customers my partner has dealt with have not been very good, but as I have only claimed onc ...
