I bought the Savage 17HMR heavy barrel thumbhole from Dick's Sporting Goods for $300 and it included a decent Busnell Scope. Today I was at the gun range on the 50 yard range and was shooting next to a brand new Marlin heaviy barrell 22 magnum. No bragging just fact, the Savage shot bascially one large ragged hole that would have been 1/2" to 3/4" on the 100 yard range. The Marlin shot 2" groups and the person said that paid about $450 for their gun and the ammo was about the same as mine at $10 a box. Boy were they mad they bought the Marlin, I am usually the one on the short end of the stick, it sure felt good that I made a very good decsion.

I would like to try the thumb hole stock as well. Seems that Savage has gone and put the high quality trigger on all or ...
