Good Points: Reliability. Quality. Interior space. Engine. Side airbags.
Bad Points: Fuel consumption. Main dealer servicing expensive. Front tyre wear.
General comments: I owned a 1.8i VTEC Accord for 6 years and 50,000 miles. It turned out to be an excellent family car. Plenty of room for cases, pushchairs, kids etc. The interior trim always cleaned up well after much abuse! Had no problems with it. Little bit heavy on fuel and front tyres. Maybe that was just the way I drove it because it was a pleasure to drive. First sign of trouble was brake pipe corrosion. (£200 repair). If I was buying another I would look for a good service history. Solid car.

This Honda Accord 1.8 16V S Saloon family car completly changed my thoungts about Japanese cars, that they were reliable but dull. The Honda Accord is sadly a overlooked masterpiece of engineering. This car can be compared to BMW 3 series when it comes to handling, even better! The car fits the 1.8 litre engine fine, it delivers 136 Hp and is eager and smooth, but if you really want the ultimate ride, go for the type R. The interior in the car looks great, and the round speedo and rev gives the ...

I bought a used 1998 Honda Accord LX and have had no problems with it in the year I've had it. It runs great, is reliable and dependable, and feels like a new car. This is my third Honda and I will only buy Honda's as I have had no problems with any of them. I have found them to truly be great cars.

I have driven many honda's. The Honda accord 1.8 16V saloon is another excellent example. A smashing car, this is fast and reliable. Honda are another part of the great japanse empire. The yanks love them and so do i. Honda has a great name and reputation, esp. now with there world wide grip.
Shame about the interior. It needs to be made a little more brighter and fillied with a little less plastic. Still a cut above VW and probably the best fast family ride out there.

Fell well below my expectations. The build quality of this Honda Accord 1.8 16V Saloon car was pretty shoddy as were the materials used. Boot shut with a very tinny clink due to no sound proofing or internal trim. Replacement clutch required after only 2 years (96K!) but this was all motorway driving. Also rear and front discs replacement - Windscreen leak. Also, after being broken into, the passenger door winding glass was forever pulling out of plastic clips made to hold the window. After 6 re ...

The Honda Accord 1.8 16V S saloon has an amazing engine - it seems to revel having the engine pushed. Very good handling for such a large car. Quality issues normally associated with Honda's seems to be falling behind! Quality of plastics very poor, build quality very poor. Tacky switches and other gadgets. The worst point about this car is driving in winter, on a busy road or motorway when a lorry is nearby... the dirty water washed from the windscreen is directed all over the drivers-side wind ...
