My husband and I visited Bella Vista in South Queensferry on Saturday 3rd March. In the afternoon, we looked inside and the restaurant was fairly quiet with only a few customers. The staff were very welcoming and asked if we would like to come inside and have a look at the stunning view. We asked if it would be ok to just order drinks and no food. The waiter said no problem and promptly took our drinks order. As we enjoyed our drinks and admired the view of both bridges, we could see various dishes being served. We had a look at the menu and decided to share a pizza. The pizza was delicious! So good in fact, that we decided to return in the evening and had 2 delicious pasta dishes with a side order of garlic bread. The restaurant was busy in the evening with almost all tables taken. I have to say that I'm surprised about the reviews on this site and I'm glad that I did not read them before our visit to South Queensferry as I would definitely have avoided this restaurant. We really enjoyed our meals and found the staff to be very friendly and attentive. The owner was onsite during our visit and seemed genuinely pleased that we chose his restaurant twice in the one day! I hope other people can have the same experience in the future.

In previous years I have been a fan of bella vista and used to dine here regularly. Since we hadn't visited in a while mysel and my partner booked a table to discover things have indeed changed in this previously friendly and fantastic restaurant. Our cutlery was thrown at us. We were given one napkin between 2. One menu between 2. There was no beer or lager available. The cordial tasted in diluted. We were placed next to a large table to whom we were so close we kept bumping the neighbouring chairs an could not get out easily to use the bathroom if required. The large table was given a lot of tlc clearly due to the quantity of wine being ordered and potential for tips. Our main course arrived more than 2 hours after we entered the restaurant by which time I was ill with hunger and unable to eat it. NEVER AGAIN!

My husband and I visited Bella Vista during an overnight stay in South Queensferry on Saturday 3rd March. We looked inside the restaurant in the afternoon and it was quite quiet with only a few customers. The waiter asked if we would like to come inside and see the stunning view. We asked if it was ok to order drinks only and no food. He said no problem and promptly took our drinks order. He also recommended a very pleasant wine. As we enjoyed the view and our drinks, we noticed that the food being served looked nice and had a look at the menu. We decided to share a pizza and it was delicious! We could not decide where to dine on the Saturday evening and after a look around the other restaurants, we decided to return to Bella Vista. We had 2 delicious pasta dishes and a side order of garlic bread. The restaurant was busy in the evening with almost all tables occupied, however there was still a nice relaxed ambience in the room. We found the staff at Bella Vista very friendly and also chatted with the owner as he was on site during our visit. I'm surprised by the reviews I have read on this site and I'm glad that I did not read them before our vist as I would have avoided this restuarant and would have missed out on some delicious food. I hope other people have the same experience that we had in the future.

Having not stepped into this restaurant for over a year because of the way we were treated by pinto the waiter who acts like he owns the place , he is the rudest waiter we have ever come accross! We went in this afternoon hoping that he Had left & a new respectful waiter taken his place , no such luck ! Upon entering we noticed the place was EMPTY" he said to us a family of 6 , I not serving you because you complained the last time! I was flabberghasted to be spoken to in this manner after giving them regular business in the past for many years. I said how dare you speak to us like that , this man has single handedly destroyed this restaurant, They lost there best waiter Antonio & replaced with this nut case . They lost there best chef Mauricio " Mr salerno I have no axe to grind with you your restaurant used to be fantastic . Sadly not anymore , from a customer standpoint we will never return unless this man is gone. If you value your restaurant you need to be aware how this man is destroying your business.

What a superb restaurant! I'd been worried that on a Saturday nighttime it may be packed and so unpleasant, yet it wasn't when I went, so I had the pleasure of being allowed to take a look around personally and talk comfortably with my company. Your wine menu was intriguing and the bar staff members extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I can't wait to get back there and try out more food or do a drinks tasting.

Where to start, this was one of the worst restaurants I have been in, It was like a very bad scene from faulty Totwers! The waiter was rude abrupt and down right god awful. He spilled my coffee by slamming it down on the table- NO APOLOGY OFFERED!)-My wifes chicken was raw and did not smell fresh his response, The chicken is fresh and you have to pay for it or I will call the police! We paid to avoid a nasty scene but have reported then to Enviromental Health.

The views from this restaurant are fantastic. Right overlooking the Forth & the 2 bridges. However, for the price of the food, I would have expected much better quality & service. Decor is a bit dated too.

Lovely atmosphere, average food and service. Idyllic setting. Food could've been better for what we paid. Didn't feel service or food warranted a tip, change was slammed down on the counter. First and last visit.

Took my wife and daughter, views were fabulous sadly to say it went down hill from there, the food was actually good, although very small portions and very expensive, no bread given with Soup, when I asked for some they charged me £1,95"- for the pleasure of 2 small slices, unbelievable!
As mentioned in another review the waiters were extremley rude & abrupt, no child menu either.
Sort there staff out & there pricing this would be a very successfull restaurant, its a shame really.

The food was spot-on. Usually, you will leave a restaurant with 1 or 2 small criticisms about the food, but it was nothing short of perfect on this occasion.
The penne con funghi e crema was beautiful, while the tartufo ice-cream was mouthwatering.

I am a big fan of Massino's but Bella Vista surpassed even them.
Honestly if you are even slightly romantic the place will blow you away just with the views. If you want really good Italian food cooked fresh then it's the place to go.

will definitely be going back to Bella Vista. Amazing food and views, prices weren't too bad, nice place for a romantic dinner.
