I am extremely concerned about the standard of service I have received from PC world’s knowhow division. I put my PC in the store at PC world Croydon to have a faulty graphics card replaced, the company told me that my data needed to be removed from the computer and backed up on an external hard drive which they supplied. When I got the PC back home all my data had gone and SOMEONE ELSE’S DATA had been loaded on the external hard drive, family photo’s, documents, music and personal... (read more)

Ordered goods, online account showed estimated despatch date which came and went, no contact from them and no product delivered. I had to contact them at which point, over a week later, they said item was out of stock - leaving me under time pressure to order elsewhere. I get the feeling they would never have emailed me to let me know item was out of stock. Steer well clear and shop somewhere reliable! (read more)

How much stupider can PC World's staff get? My wife just purchased a Kindle Fire HD ,thankfully not from PC World, and having signed up for a one month trial of Love Film wondered what it would look like on the big screen. So I suggested popping into PC World for an HDMI cable. We looked at the Kindles on display and compared them with the cables on sale but couldn't find a match. Well, were do I start with this abysmal company! Monday last week, I Ordered a HD Camcorder on their website. It was quite expensive at £600 but it was one of the best available, and I needed a good quality one for my holiday in the Bahamas. They are dishonest, duping older people who do not understand technology out of money. They will tell you one thing to your face - it will cost this much to fix your computer and it will be good as new', calling you 4 weeks later which is 2 weeks later than you were advised to tell you it will cost another £150 which is on top of the £120 already paid to fix the computer. Had a problem with a laptop purchased less than 2 months ago. Had been offered Knowhow insurance so took laptop back to the store. Disgusting customer service so took it to another store and they said that I should have been offered Premier insurance which would mean I could phone their technical dept and they would "take over" my laptop and solve the problem or arrange for a courier to collect. So I paid for the extra insurance and went home. Phoned the tech dept who asked me what the... (read more)

I have visited a fair few Pc worlds of recent as i wanted to purchase a new laptop. The appears to be one thing in common with all of them. Their product knowledge is very poor. I hate to correct you, but the part you missed was the setup including the creation of recovery media which does not come with any new machine other than Apple. Samsung supply a windows install disk but that does not include the full drivers required for the laptop to talk to windows correctly. Samsung media creation is known to take between 4 and 6 hours to create. So while it may have taken you 30 minutes to turn it on, do not fool yourself to assume you are set up and protected. A recovery set from Samsung direct will cost you around £50 should your computer fail and leave you unable to recover.

manbhatia123, I wonder why you would choose this nominally computer purveyor to purchase an SLR camera from when there are a number of first-class dedicated camera shops online that have an impeccable track record and are thus totally reliable?
You spent all that money on telephone calls? Good heavens, you could have had my SLR with its two lenses for that sum!
It's all too much for me as I simply cannot comprehend that anyone would want to patronise PC World when Review Centre's 'score' for the company is...."From 192 reviews 8.9% of users recommend this".
I'm not too sure how they get .9 of a user - perhaps he is a very SMALL user but whatever, the fact is that mathematically, LESS than one in ten peeps recommend them.
I like to be even-handed and I have to tell you that I find something in your review that doesn't quite add up, and I will look forward to reading the last act of this unhappy saga before pronouncing judgement.
