“absolutely thee worst online shopping experience i've had”

Written on: 26/08/2014 by emmetfj (1 review written)

Ordered an LCD monitor for my desktop, was told it would take 4-5 days, 2 weeks later i'm still waiting. This seems to a be a common theme amongst anyone who chooses home delivery from pc world, judging by reviews from similarly dis-satisfied customers online. To further compound matters, their customer service department never replies to emails, the emails of order confirmation fail to contain the link to the courier company and the tracking codes do not work. This is most likely intentional… Read Full Review

“PC World Lincoln, bad start but came good in the end”

Written on: 20/08/2014 by KylieO'Rourke1946 (1 review written)

I bought a Lenovo C440 all-in-one desktop from PC World Lincoln. After 6 months the screen started displaying a fault, odd coloured thin lines across the whole screen, so I returned it to the store. They sent it back to Lenovo for repair, and said they would contact me, but never did. After 28 days I went back to the store, and it was still not repaired, so they offered me a replacement new PC. I told the salesman I wanted something that was at least as good, he suggested a Lenovo C470 as it… Read Full Review

“Very bad customer service at PC World Watford Branch”

Written on: 08/08/2014

I reserved a notebook laptop that was on sale using PC World online reserve and collect in store. I was called the following morning by a member of staff purporting to be the manager (I later found out he was not). He informed me that they had 2 in stock, 1 was the display and the other came with recovery software which would cost me a further £45. I told him that this was not stated on their website and I was not prepared to pay a further £45. I went into store and they had reserved the… Read Full Review

“Lies, Lies and Lies”

Written on: 05/08/2014 by djSchneider493 (1 review written)

Accompanied a friend to a local PC World Store to buy a laptop for her son. Not the least impressed. Here is why: 1. When asked what the maximum amount of RAM a particular laptop would support, the salesperson said, "doesn't matter, it has already got 4GB of RAM, anything more than that would not do anything good because the processor wouldn't be able to cope any more RAM than what it has already got. I then found out myself that the RAM could be upgraded to 8GB. 2. They tried to sell MS… Read Full Review

Volleymaster2's Comment

Written on: 06/08/2014

Hi. With reference to your comment 1 about maximum RAM, the salesperson may well have been correct in stating that the processor will not cope with more RAM, i.e. it makes no difference to the performance in adding more RAM. This is a common thing with processors/motherboards - even though you CAN upgrade, it is a waste of money as the memory is useless and does nothing.
I'm not a fan of PC World, and comment 2 is about right.
All the best.

“Can't deliver anything on time”

Written on: 01/08/2014 by Adelinej1977 (1 review written)

As usual I'vee had to wait 4 hours to find out that my delivery is delayed and has an estimated delivery of at least another hour or more. So having taken the morning off work to wait from 7:30 to 11:30. It will now mean that I have to take the afternoon off as well. So it's cost me twice as much as the product I'm buying to have it delivered. But this is not the first time PC World/Currys have let me down. 1. Ordered an oven, wrong colour delivered. 2. Bought a mobile phone, second hand… Read Full Review

“Disgusting”

Written on: 31/07/2014 by Moore28 (1 review written)

I have been mis-sold a laptop, insurance, office pack, norton anti virus program and more by PC World. My story starts in October 2013 (Literally 3 days before their Watch Dog incident.) I walk into my local store looking for a new computer on which I can do my studies. A gentleman who's name I still hold, walks up to me and asks if I require any assistance. I tell him that I am looking for a laptop with an insurance that covers everything for piece of mind. He helps me pick out a… Read Full Review

“Currys bromley useless!!!!!”

Written on: 25/07/2014 by daviddtm (1 review written)

Popped in on the way hope from work to buy a cheap laptop just for general use. Ten minutes max I thought. I had picked out the one I wanted before entering the store. " One of these please". The guy returned with the laptop, put it on his desk, then wasted 15 minutes of my time trying to sell me security, insurance for accidental damage, insurance for breakdowns etc. For £35 they have a ready set up laptop ready to go, no thanks. He asked if I had children, so he could suggest more things to… Read Full Review

“Service with a smile!!!”

Written on: 03/07/2014 by 108Dixon (1 review written)

Having spent the afternoon having a look at a new laptop, printer, iPod speaker and TV, the excitement of going on this spending spree was soon drained from me. Despite hovering beside the same laptop for ten minutes and thinking i had caught the eye of several sales staff I eventually had to ambush a staff member who I suspect was returning from a ten minute cigarette break. I had spoken to this staff member half an hour earlier but despite the shop being quiet he couldn't recall our… Read Full Review

Written on: 21/06/2014 by clinger1 (1 review written)

There are enough bad reviews here for someone to make an informed decision about this bunch but I feel I still have to back up the pathetic rating they've got. I visited them twice over the space of a weekend recently to purchase an HP laptop and both times it was a farcical experience. The first sales guy approached me but when I asked a few basic questions relating to the laptop itself and Windows 8, he was clueless and said he'd get an "expert". The "expert" was more interested in… Read Full Review

“false advertising and rubbish service”

Written on: 08/05/2014 by NDBedford (1 review written)

PC World advertised a camera package on their website which included a memory card that was not compatible with the camera and then charged £110 more than the advertised price!! Claiming that customers should expect to pay a different price if they have changed it behind the scenes!! The ‘knowhow service is a joke’ They need to wake up and employ someone to sort the service… Read Full Review

“I should have read the reviews first!”

Written on: 30/04/2014 by Justice460 (1 review written)

I spent a while researching the right laptop and found it at PC World. I ordered online for collection in store. I called in to collect and pay for it. All very straight forward ...... not! A assistant get the laptop and we sat at a table for him to complete the sale. He said I would need a 32GB USB stick to create a Windows 8 recovery disk. I said I had an external hard drive and wouldn't that do, but he said it must be a USB stick. (That didn't sound logical and I have since found it was… Read Full Review

“Tried to rip me off”

I went to PC world St David's Cardiff ready to buy a laptop ASUS 551 for £249 as advertised -- price same on line. However the half-wit who served me said it could only be sold with a Recovery Stick costing £40. Refused to serve me. Very rude. And his mate. Yet I could buy it on line… Read Full Review

“Rubbish service, don't shop here.”

Written on: 02/04/2014 by ReginaFitzsimmons (1 review written)

Bought a new iMac only to find an advert two days later on someone else's website going to a page buried in pcworld's website offering a voucher for 5% off - that's a £55 saving. There was nothing on their site to say this. When I complained they just said sorry, but tough luck. We have spent over £6,000 in the Edinburgh Glasgow Road shop in the past 14 months but I certainly don't feel like a valued customer. It would have cost them nothing to honour the offer. PC World need to learn from… Read Full Review

“Laptop doesn't work, forced into unwanted add-ons”

Written on: 28/03/2014 by laptopuser1 (1 review written)

I bought a new laptop from the Ashton branch of PC World. From the word go have had nothing but trouble, starting when I was still in the shop. When I was going to pay for the laptop, the sales assistant added a 'whatever happens' care plan WITHOUT consulting me about it. He just said 'oh by the way this is our care plan, it's only £9.50 a month, it's added to your purchase.' The cretin had only gone and added this on to my card hadn't he? How unscrupulous does it get? When I complained I was… Read Full Review
