“Service with a smile!!!”

Written on: 03/07/2014 by 108Dixon (1 review written)

Having spent the afternoon having a look at a new laptop, printer, iPod speaker and TV, the excitement of going on this spending spree was soon drained from me. Despite hovering beside the same laptop for ten minutes and thinking i had caught the eye of several sales staff I eventually had to ambush a staff member who I suspect was returning from a ten minute cigarette break. I had spoken to this staff member half an hour earlier but despite the shop being quiet he couldn't recall our… Read Full Review

“So glad I went elsewhere eventually. ”

Written on: 21/06/2014 by clinger1 (1 review written)

There are enough bad reviews here for someone to make an informed decision about this bunch but I feel I still have to back up the pathetic rating they've got. I visited them twice over the space of a weekend recently to purchase an HP laptop and both times it was a farcical experience. The first sales guy approached me but when I asked a few basic questions relating to the laptop itself and Windows 8, he was clueless and said he'd get an "expert". The "expert" was more interested in… Read Full Review

My Pc had broken and there was nothing that I could do about it how was I meant ot fix a PC form a diagnostic point of view when my knowledge of machines is on a purely software based point of view so I took it to the place that I had bought it PC world, bear in mind I dont like this company, we bought the PC from there because it was the only place around that offered a Credit option after returning my PC to there I waited and kept checking to see if it was fixed I expected it to be done after… Read Full Review

“false advertising and rubbish service”

Written on: 08/05/2014 by NDBedford (1 review written)

PC World advertised a camera package on their website which included a memory card that was not compatible with the camera and then charged £110 more than the advertised price!! Claiming that customers should expect to pay a different price if they have changed it behind the scenes!! The ‘knowhow service is a joke’ They need to wake up and employ someone to sort the service… Read Full Review

“I should have read the reviews first!”

Written on: 30/04/2014 by Justice460 (1 review written)

I spent a while researching the right laptop and found it at PC World. I ordered online for collection in store. I called in to collect and pay for it. All very straight forward ...... not! A assistant get the laptop and we sat at a table for him to complete the sale. He said I would need a 32GB USB stick to create a Windows 8 recovery disk. I said I had an external hard drive and wouldn't that do, but he said it must be a USB stick. (That didn't sound logical and I have since found it was… Read Full Review

“Tried to rip me off”

Written on: 29/04/2014 by Antoniog355 (1 review written)

I went to PC world St David's Cardiff ready to buy a laptop ASUS 551 for £249 as advertised -- price same on line. However the half-wit who served me said it could only be sold with a Recovery Stick costing £40. Refused to serve me. Very rude. And his mate. Yet I could buy it on line… Read Full Review

“Rubbish service, don't shop here.”

Written on: 02/04/2014 by ReginaFitzsimmons (1 review written)

Bought a new iMac only to find an advert two days later on someone else's website going to a page buried in pcworld's website offering a voucher for 5% off - that's a £55 saving. There was nothing on their site to say this. When I complained they just said sorry, but tough luck. We have spent over £6,000 in the Edinburgh Glasgow Road shop in the past 14 months but I certainly don't feel like a valued customer. It would have cost them nothing to honour the offer. PC World need to learn from… Read Full Review

Correction: 'cares very little for customers', not 'cares very for customers'.

“Laptop doesn't work, forced into unwanted add-ons”

Written on: 28/03/2014 by laptopuser1 (1 review written)

I bought a new laptop from the Ashton branch of PC World. From the word go have had nothing but trouble, starting when I was still in the shop. When I was going to pay for the laptop, the sales assistant added a 'whatever happens' care plan WITHOUT consulting me about it. He just said 'oh by the way this is our care plan, it's only £9.50 a month, it's added to your purchase.' The cretin had only gone and added this on to my card hadn't he? How unscrupulous does it get? When I complained I was… Read Full Review

“Terrible company. Do not buy from here!”

Written on: 24/03/2014 by andy.rumfitt (3 reviews written)

Bought a Galaxy Tab 2 last may which is still under warranty. Had to send it off for repair 6 weeks ago as it would not turn on. Waited over a month before calling customer services who told me the item had been available for collection for a few days. Collected from store and when tried to turn it on it still does not work. It is clear that they have done nothing with this item other than wrapping it in some protective tape and sending it back. Need to speak to someone at the Dragonsville… Read Full Review

“Don't even bother”

Written on: 22/03/2014 by AinsleyBlake (1 review written)

I've had many dealings with PC World through the years, being a technician myself, I'm often asked by friends to accompany them on forays to the shop for various reasons. As you can see from other reviews, the whole company is a joke. They overcharge for simple jobs that anyone could really do and the staff are mostly clueless about computers. They might know a few things, but don't often have any official qualifications or relevant experience. Usually college students still learning at… Read Full Review

“So bad it's a joke”

Written on: 07/03/2014 by uiDonaldson291 (1 review written)

I am without a working HP laptop as I'm currently having a dispute with PC World. I used the laptop 4 times it was a gift bought for me in the new year. My old laptop lasted 7 years not purchased from PC World can I just mention. When it was sent back to me from KNOWHOW it was in an open box with a screwed up note with no explanation as to what was wrong with it. So it continues and now i'm sending it away to the manufacturer. When I asked if they'd like their property treated in such a manner… Read Full Review

“Staff and store serve no purpose in this life. ”

Written on: 21/02/2014 by BillAshton (1 review written)

After visiting 3 different stores I am aghast. A simple task of buying a tablet made infuriating by uninformed, unhelpful, unwilling epsilon grade retail staff. If you can actually find someone to "help", they either don't know or don't care. They are unaware of features, don't know how things work, don't know about offers, stock availability and cannot advise about other stores...probably because they don't know how to work the funny machine that looks like a TV and has a keyboard underneath… Read Full Review

“laptop repair”

Written on: 01/02/2014

I took my wife's laptop into the same PC world as we bought it from as the hard drive had given up. The guy who I saw was very pleasant & said they would get it fixed asp. They. Gave me a tracking number so a few days later I went online to see the progress of my repair. It still had not been sent to the repair centre & did not go until over a week after I had taken it in. So I checked again the day after it went in. & it had been repaired but would not be returned for another 5 days. So i… Read Full Review

I wanted to invest and indulge in a tablet...I wanted a simple machine with not necessarly enough Apps to sink a ship...I needed a tablet that had Office and with a standard USB... I visit my local PC World in Luton and enquire after a Windows Surface RT... I was recommended the Surface RT with built in Office software and 64 gb memory...I was told that there were none pristine in stock but there were 2 that had been opened and returned which I could purchase with a £5.50 discount in the form… Read Full Review

“Disgraceful!!”

Written on: 13/01/2014

I bought a laptop online in September and it has never worked properly. I took it into the Wandsworth Bridge store, where I received appalling service. I was left for 3 hours while they rebooted my laptop. The staff were very impolite and extremely unhelpful. After 2:45hrs I had to ask them what was happening as they were not keeping me informed of what was happening. After 3 hours they told me my laptop needed to be sent away for a week. Two weeks later without any response, I went back into… Read Full Review

“Avoid like the plague”

Written on: 10/01/2014

These people are dishonest, they refused to honour a £100 cash back promotion on an Apple laptop, it took me months of frustration to finally get my money back. They seem to think that if they make it difficult enough you will just give up, not this guy. I was prepared to spend hundreds on legal fees,my time, phone calls etc as a matter of principle, when they realised I wasn't going away, they paid up ! PS Staff are clueless… Read Full Review
