Computer corrupted, not told they would restore to factory settings, had to buy a scan disc to back up documents photos etc, re-loaded all word, office, etc,still not working, been told computer is still corrupted, and do a system restore, only restore point was 3 days before picking up computer, which said reinstall english language file, not sure what this is, so how can I restore to this point? and re-install word, office etc requested they re-install word etc only to be told it would cost… Read Full Review

i bought a laptop from this place, 12 days and I had problems, I followed the instructions on the dispatch note, got to the store, only to be told, sorry you cant return it because you turned it on, but whats the problem? well the wifi keeps losing connection,now it doesn't do it all the time, just at times and I have to reset the laptop to get it to work, 30 mins later and I'm told sorry it didn't happen, on the phone, the supervisor on the phone at the same time, his idea of fixing the… Read Full Review

“Happens All The Time...... Why?”

Why is it that NEARLY every time I purchase a product and I get the package with a security sticker, when I get home and unpack something is always missing. This happened to me with a computer a year afo, as well as a printer. My latest PAIN IN THE Neck was I purchased a Panasonic Microwave a month ago. It was supposed to be a birthday present. “dreadful customer care”

I bought a Lenovo all in one PC for my business, we run a Beauty salon and the computer and salon software is critical to our business. When the existing computer started playing up I needed one urgently and went off to PC World (as they are supposed to be the experts). I am disgusted after purchasing a new PC in the new year I specifically told the salesman that I did not want the Careplan to my surprise today I receive a letter in the post to say they could not process my payment (this is because my card expired in Jan)! “Dreadful Customer Service”

I can (almost) forgive the lack of decent stock and just having all the leftovers in store for the convienence of a local outlet but when a really bad attitude by the sales staff is added-in this causes me to never want to step foot in a store again. I agree with above, then when my new computer failed after a month and went back to the shop for repair I was given a reference and a phone number where I could chase up the repair. After a week I called the number, got through to the call centre and was told that it would take another week as they had to wait for the part. Not great as I use this for work. A week later I called again and was told that they were still waiting for the part. An hour later I was put through to someone - apparently a manager, who agreed that it might be faster just to replace the computer, but that the old one would have to be sent back to the store first. That would take until the following Wednesday. The following Wednesday I phoned again, to be told that no one had emailed the repair team so the computer had not yet left them. The girl I spoke to said she would put me through to the manager. After being on hold for about 10 mins the phone was picked up by a lad who knew nothing about my case. At that point I threw a bit of a tantrum and demanded to speak to someone who could help. He said he didn't know who the manager was, he was unable to put me through to anyone more senior, that he couldn't explain my story to anyone that he did put me through to and called me sir. He eventually said he couldn't help me so I gave up.

So I still have no computer PC world effectively have my money for nothing and there is nothing I can do about it. o and I have a Complaint reference, but that doesn't seem to do anything either. Not quite sure where to go now, but never again from these guys - the last computer I bought several years ago almost exactly the same thing happened!!

“Good Local Shop”

I have recently bought two items from PC World in Eastbourne. The first was a JBL Bluetooth Flip 3 speaker and the second was a Pure Rise Siesta Dab Radio Alarm. I had fully researched both before purchase. Both were considerably cheaper than Amazon (or anywhere else for that matter)and both were available for free collection within two days. An hour wasted. I reserved on line from their Chatham store, got my reservation number, drove there, and was offered a totally unsuitable replacement. If you REALLY have to buy from them, (I won't any more), then get the staff member you talk to to get it in their hand, because their IT online system sucks... Was it anything special I wanted? This is my experience of Currys PC World.... I ordered a laptop online. Delivery date set. Took day off work. Laptop never arrived so I phoned to see what was going on. Currys say don't know and are unable to help. DPD say we have lost your parcel. New one will be sent we will open an investigation. “Hidden care plan cost”

My wife and myself purchased a television, paid by credit card. On receiving credit card statement found deduction of £4 per month for cover that was not requested or apparently, explained by salesperson! Complained and had same stopped. “Predatory Sales Practice, Uninformed Staff”

Please don't shop here. PC world now makes it's profits by selling useless and unnecessary add-ons to grandparents and other uninformed people who don't know better. I would not feel comfortable with any non tech-savvy person I know shopping here. The sales staff will spin utter nonsense at you in an attempt to sell you antivirus and extended warranty packages, preinstalls etc. If you ask them legitimate questions they probably won't know the answer. Brought computer in for a cleanup and service. Device was Macaffee protected and this was a routine (1st time at PC world) service.
