“Just Terrible!!!”

Went in for 4 fittings and they still didn't get it right. The guy who measured me was a rude and arrogant salesman. He made this face every time I brought up an issue with the garment, or when I simply requested shortening or lengthening something!!! What the hell are fittings for?! its bloody custom after all! Raja Fashions? This is not a Hong Kong tailor. This is a bunch of traveling Indian order-takers, barely trained in the art of taking measurements, intending foremost to jack the out-the-door price as high as possible, then sending your order to a Chinese sweat shop that uses cheap, unqualified labor to sort of stitch your items together. I always bought Suit off the rack in Melbourne and Sydney. The suit fits fine and I never used to complain much about the fit. I seen Raja Fashions ads several time in the Newspaper and I thought to give a try after reading some reviews. I have to say that I was put off by the number of negative reviews on this site and else where. I have seen there ads couple of time. “HORRIBLE PRODUCT...”

I ordered a suit. I took the time to explain the guy I wanted something that would nicely fit me. He took all required measures.. The suit arrived 5 weeks later. The suit was clearly not good. OTR suits would better fit me. It is very simple, you are going to lose your money if you spend it with them. I wasted 800$ with them. Was attracted by the claim to offer perfect fit for reasonable outlay but was subject to extremely hard sell to increase cost of two suits to three times the advertised price. Fell for it and although I resisted to a point agreed to increase by 50%. Suits arrived and fairly loose fit with vents (I never wear vents). Both returned at considerable inconvenience. I visited Hong Kong for a holiday. I had heard of Raja Fashions, they advertised extensively in the UK. I visited their shop in HK and ordered a suit. The suit arrived on time and I tried it on. I went to HK for a shopping holiday and my son asked me to get a few shirts for him from there. They were friendly, the price was good. I told them the shirts need to be ready before I left. Phoned them on the day of collection, the guy said "tomorrow". 5 days later, the answer was still "tomorrow". I told them I was leaving and there would be no tomorrow and I wanted my money back. I first went to see Raja in a hotel in Ottawa (Canada) on recommendation from a friend in November 2012. They do offer free shirts to anyone who buys based on a referral. I paid $1000 for two high quality bespoke suits. I was really shocked when I received the first suit for try before ordering the second suit. Ordered from them after receiving a reasonable offer, show room seemed ok, service seemed ok, measurement took 5 minutes, was well done, based on previous experiences. However when suit arrived it was completely (much cheaper) fabric than ordered, they wanted to charge me to change it, it didn't fit, and the sales people got rude and screamed at me.. if you are in Hong Kong, avoid Raja Fashion, just the typical Tourist Trap! I have been after the ultimate suit for some time and I have to say I was impressed by the quirky aggressive style of Mr Darsani's advertsing . My budget was not limited as it was the quality they claimed rather than the price that attracted me. I would have bought ten suits and spent 10,000 if they were the ones i wanted. I ordered 2 suits and 5 shirts. It took 4 months from start to finish. They send a test suit and one shirt to make sure all fits OK. I had to go back to London as the trousers were too short. I've been making suits from Rajas for about 5 years now. They travel to the US pretty often and their extremely accomodating when it comes to appointments. If you're not in a hurry to get your suits, I'd request for a fitting. This takes a little longer but it's definitely worth the wait. They have a huge range of fabrics and offer some great package deals when they're here. I'd definitely recommend getting fitted the next time they are in town. (read more)

Me and my friend came with a special request, for a slim fit suit. We met 2 representives of Raja in Australia last Jul, one of the salesmen was [name removed] who looked after us. He's a "sweet talker" beware of him. We told him what we want and he showed us some fabrics which we want. We requested for a fitting when they back in Oct. Who ever he is has never visited Adelaide where I live. Perhaps we are lucky in South Australia as we get (name removed) and he is the best. Absolute gentleman and immaculately dressed. And what I have ordered from (name removed) has entirely met all my requirements.
Refuse to see them if this (name removed) is the salesman and ask for (name removed) to visit your city instead.
I got exactly what I wanted from Rajah.

I met [name removed] a year ago in Dusseldorf, Germany. He seem to be well dressed and a very good fashions advisor. I received all the garments (2 Suits and a Jacket) in a good conditions and only the trousers needed to be shorten by 1 cm which was done when they toured the next time. I was pleased and happy with his service. As I was browsing the internet I stumble across this review. This review seem to be unreal as who ever wrote it kept on mentioning his name serveral time and the review looks mixed up .

Raja Fashions - awful, terrible service and total waste of money. I ordered 2 suits and they first tried to fob me off with inferior quality material. After I dug in my heels, they agreed to cut new suits from the original agreed material. These arrived and after several fittings, they still do not fit. It is almost 12 months now and I still don't have a suit that fits and am €900 down. These guys are cowboys and gangsters. Do NOT use under any circumstances. You will regret it. (read more)

Today, I had an appointment with Raja at the Hilton in Frankfurt. I had read some positive reviews on the internet so I wanted to see for myself. When I told Raja that I am a first-time customer and that therefore I only wanted to order two shirts, his jaw dropped and he informed me that I would have to order a minimum of six, a figure which he subsequently lowered to four. I never ever have had a "minimum" order imposed on me when I visited the Hilton in Victoria Square in Adelaide. And I would walk out if it was ever suggested. And I have purchased just one item without any problems.

I was fed up using precious slow dressmakers in my city and I heard a guy at work speak very positively about Raja-Fashions and he always looks smart. So I walked into the hotel room. my review is entirely correct and factual. I can assure you I have my receipts for the items I purchased.
waiting 2 years? that sounds fanciful? Everytime I ask anything of Rajah via email I get a response within 24 to 36 hours.
And everything I said was entirely true. The salesman called (name removed) was entirely respectful and he did all that I asked and expected. My items arrived promptly. Believe me I am picky. Not one button has ever fallen off. no seam has ever come undone. I was delighted with the fit. Another man at work started dressing better and I complimented him. And found out by accident that he went to Rajah.
I am sorry if you were unlucky with a salesman who did not take good instructions. I know that the man I saw was meticulous in the notes he took and his remarks made me realise that he understood exactly what i wanted. He is clearly a huge asset for Rajah.
So this is a genuine and completely valid review by me.
what city were you in? Perhaps the fault is the salesperson who you saw? One bad apple salesperson who has a problem could ruin a business. Perhaps it is a rogue salesperson?

the fabric selection is nice, i chose the best wool they had from zegna, but what a waste on such terrible made suit!. the lining starts to fall apart after 4-5 wears, both armpits stitching have come off, showing all the interior guts of the suit. the quality is such a disappointment, i feel like I've been robbed. overall, terrible suit, do not ever ever go. their price is expensive too. I'm with you on that. I bought two suits, which i think was oevrpriced, and they fit horribily. I brought it back twice to have the jackets altered. Waited 6 weeks each time, to only not be 100% satisfied when i receive them. I couldn't be bothered anymore and now just make do with slightly tight fitting suit jackets. Never again

I have been ordering items of clothing - jackets, slacks and tops and evening jackets.. For two years. I wear them all the time. All have been dry cleaned multiple times. NOTHING has fallen apart at all.

Raja Fashions has reached a new low: They will take the money, but after three months you will still be waiting... and probably wait forever. Of course, one should read the fine print: You will be signing a slip on which it says 'no refunds'. They will cash immediately. Whether they will deliver, in what time frame and to what standard - all unclear. But your money will be gone. (read more)

Everything I have ordered has been delivered promptly.
And when I have lent them a garment to copy my original article clothing that was copied has arrived back in perfect order.
Two jackets they made for me in suede are amazing. Since I have them a tiny size (Australian) size 10 for them to copy up to a larger size and it is perfect.

My suit was appalling, took three alterations, waiting well over 8 weeks between deliveries and still not right, I had to have another tailor alter it and even then not what I asked for. The biggest waste of 750$ and my time.

All my buttons are still on the jackets and shirts I purchased. All the stitching is intact.
And (name removed) is wonderful about suggesting great fabrics.
And they listen to my ideas - I suggest you come prepared. I know that find it amusing that I arrive knowing exactly what I want and if they don't have the fabric I want then I do not purchase.

My husband decided to get me a custom fit suit as a Christmas gift and one for himself. When we arrived at the hotel to get fitted by Raja sales people the fist time in March the set up was sketchy at best. Worn out? After six months? I think not. The fact of the matter is that the pocket area was very lightly and badly stitched, with only one small stitch attaching the pocket to the front panel. It has mostly lived protected on a hanger and only warn very carefully. If a leather jacket tears after that little use it is poorly made. plain and simple. my other leather jackets have held together perfectly and i have owned them for much longer and worn them in all conditions and situations

I purchased a suit from Raja Fashions four years ago and recently bought another. The first suit fitted me very well and still looks excellent now, in spite of quite a lot of use. By and large my experiences have been very positive. Readers to this site should bear in mind that a dissatisfied customer is far more likely to post a negative review online than a satisfied customer has the incentive to submit a positive one. I recently had 3 suits made at Raja Fashions, and have had a pleasant experience. People at the shop are friendly, welcoming and well educated on latest styles/fashion trends. I was happy with my suits when i came to pick them up, they refused to let me take the suits as they felt they could make slight changes to get the fit perfect. I have the kind of frame that can easily be fitted by an M&S off the peg suit, but I thought it would be nice to have one made to measure for a change. Big mistake choosing Raja fashions. Saw them in FT, went in to see them at their Beverly hills location...was surprised to see indian fitters in the suite as opposed to chinese tailors considering they were coming in from Hong kong. I wish I had read more reviews before booking with Raja to be fitted for shirts and a blazer. I met with the fitter Nash C in Toronto on Jan. 19, 2012. He steamrolled me through the fitting in about 5 minutes and quickly had me convinced to order 6 shirts - double what I had initially intended. It was not an easy process and like many other reviewers have mentioned, It does take them many fittings to get it right...well...sort of!! I had more problems with the shirts and finally had to settle for what I got. The cutting of the shirts were a bit off and some area do have too much cloth...It's not big problems and quite frankly, most people will not even notice it, I think...just don't feel right when you pay for tailored shirts. I visited the Kowloon branch of Raja Fashions over the Christmas and New Year holidays. It is easily the biggest waste of money I have ever spent and the end product is of an incredibly low standard. Buying a suit should be a pleasurable and luxurious experience. Purchasing a suit at Raja Fashions was the antithesis of that. I am extremely fussy and know what I like in a suit. Hi Kit - after at first ignoring me, they flatly refused to give me a refund and told me I should just take the suits to their visiting tailor when he was in the UK. I told them this was unacceptable and that I have taken up the dispute with the assistance of Amex (having paid on credit card means that in the UK the credit card company are jointly liable). Since then, they have accepted me posting the goods back to HK to be fixed (Amex said I had to give them opportunity to repair the product). I have not heard anything for a few days since they acknowledged receipt of the returns. I think, unless you paid by credit card, they are going to keep stringing you along. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

So, 117 reviews, average 3 star, ALL either 1 star or 5 five star. This means you either have an excellent experience or a terrible one. I have ordered from these guys in the past and been mostly happy, however, my most recent attempt to buy from them has resulted in one suit being sent back twice - total time elapsed 4 MONTHS. Not cheap and not one single item could be worn without another 3 trips to a local uk tailor. Shirt quality & fit incredibly bad, would go for any of the UK shirt retailers in future. After 3 or 4 wears they look old and tired. Suit material quality was good but I feel I paid for it. Greatest advert for sticking to good quality British tailoring. Measuring service was fine but felt a bit pressured to buy more, only wanted one suit and came out with 2 and 3 shirts. My fault! (read more)

I posted a review 19/8/11 having had 2 fittings and still no joy with a suit that I asked for. Since then I've had 2 more fittings. The jacket is now a good fit, but the trousers had to go back for the fifth time. I asked why they were still not getting it right - after all, the tailor is pinning the suit in place and you confirm that it's a good fit with the pins. He says the guys making the suit use the pins as a guide but make their adjustments based on what they think would be better!... (read more)

I have been buying suits from Raja Fashions for over 25 years in Hong Kong and Germany. As an attorney, I can feel confident walking into a courtroom knowing I have the best suit in the building. There are people I know who fly to Hong Kong just to get suits. The attraction is that you can get a custom made suit for a fraction of the cost at home, and the material is many times better than suits costing even three times the price elsewhere.
