Ok, I've had the Blackberry Pearl 8100 for a while now and i think i've got a pretty good idea of what is good and what isn't. Personally i think the phone is really great when is comes to navigating, its really simple and easy to adapt for personal preference.
The keyboard, personally for me is great. Im used to full qwerty's on my phones and i soon adapted. Despite what people say, i think it's easy to move from full to the smaller one. You don't have to move your fingers as much so it saves time and the sure type is great; it always gets all of my words 100% correct.
You can personalise the phone a lot and there are loads of options and menus to get specific things. The track ball gives for nice and easy navigating.
The only thing i can say is bad, is the outer casing. Just from everyday use, it has small scratches on the screen which get irritating, the back cover doesn't last long and the keys get abit loose.
Over all, this phone is a keeper. I have managed to adapt very well to it and i think it serves its perpose very well. I'm sure many other people will like it too, bad reviews put me off at the beginning. Just try it out for your self.

The Blackberry Pearl 8100 is compact and light for all it's features. Nice screen size All went well until it got damp one day. From then on itseemed to become unpredictable. Auto texting everyone in my address book over and over again. Phoning both random and phonebook numbers at it's own will. It wouldn't stay turned off - I had to remove the battery at night and in the cinema. The pearl ball broke within a week. Callers could not hear me at random. It used to hang with its egg timer for hou ...

Generally I like the blackberry pearl it does have a lot of good points, unfortunately you can always work, but I generally think the ball is a bad design, because it always breaks, this is my third blackberry in 6 months, they can with stand a beating to the exterior but the ball, like the old ball mouses for your PC, they seem to have the same design floor.

The blackberry pearl 8100 is my favorite device so far. I am a high user being a real estate agent and find this device very user friendly. You have to be very careful not to drop it and I strongly recommend carrying it in a leather case to protect it should it happen to fall as it is a very sensitive computerized device.

The Blackberry Pearl 8100 is a very good phone. Emails were easy to set up and use. The two letters per key does take some getting used to but if you are into texting then this is a very good phone. The camera is also very good. The sound quality could do with boosting a little bit as I think it sounds a little tinny.

Horrid phone not thought through. The keyboard is fiddly as is the silly non qwerty set up. Bluetooth is absolute rubbish. RIM have got to sort it. This went back and the 8800 replaced it. Reception better and not one problem with Bluetooth. Bad phone, keep away!

I am probably going to return the Blackberry Pearl during the fourteen day trial period simply based on the reception quality. I think phone manufacturers are forgetting that it is a phone first and are too busy working on the camera, MP3 or organizer feature. I really like the email and if I travelled more would place more importance on this function.

If this is an attempt on mainstream smartphones the inability to send more complex items via SMS is a huge weakness. I could live with it otherwise.

I have had the Pearl for for weeks now, and i have to admit i am a phone freak. This is one of the best i have ever used. It easy to use get on web fast emails fast, and has every feature you can think of but wifi, really impressed with it and it looks great, and the pearl that glows when you have a call is a nice added feature
