Well I finally had a response to my second letter. They claim that they didn't acknowledge the first letter of complaint because they decided it wasn't a complaint (even though it was addressed to their complaints department). It's laughable really. How can a letter addressed to their complaints department stating that they've made an incorrect entry on my credit file be deemed not a complaint? What else could it possibly be?
I'll let everybody form their own opinions as to whether or not they've failed to adhere to the Financial Services Authority guidelines which state that a letter of complaint should be acknowledged. I'll be interested to hear what the FSA make of their stance.
They also admitted to making the mistake on my credit file but offered no apology even though it had been sitting there for a year presumably having a negative impact on my credit score.
I certainly won't ever be using this company again!

They can operate this way with the full permission of the existing law. All they have to do is state that they have a 'query' regarding your identity and that's sufficient under Money Laundering laws to freeze your account. Sad but true. Best advice I can give is firstly send them a Special Delivery letter with your documents and your letter of complaint, stating that you will involve the Financial Ombudsman and will additionally initiate a Small Claims action against them for damages. If you limit the value of the action to, say, £2000 then neither you not them can claim legal costs.....Give them 14 days to respond then report them to the Ombudsman. It might take some time to get your money back, but phoning them is a total waste of time and money. They don't take emails for the very good reason that it's a record of your complaint. Phone calls are'nt unless you record them.
Hope you get a result.

well i must be one of the very few that is happy with cashplus, i have a very bad credit rating, i started my own company up and got a cashplus business account, moved my account from express to total access, only after 3 weeks they gave me £250 overdraft on my account, yes they do have flaws but ask yourself, why did you take a cashplus account??? was it because the high street banks were throwing their money and you just didnt want it... no i dont think so, its because yoour paddling the same boat as me. fact is i transferd money from my rip of high street bank using the faster payment system (upto 2 hour transfere) on a sat afternoon and its now sunday and it still hasnt gone why? cause i was stupid enough not to read the small print. so what should i do blame cashplus for my mistake. my advice is to read all he print inc the small print then if your happy enough then apply and you will be fine as long as you follow the system. i think im getting a better deal with this company than i am with my own uk high black horse branded bank who charge me silly money for being as much as 78p short of a direct debit and then bounce it because of it, so let me wheigh it up for you. a company who dosent know me but after only 3 weeks give me an overdraft of a company that ive been with for over 11 years who wouldnt trust me enough to give me a 78p overdraft.. its a hard one folks

I,m confused perhaps you can explain. You state that the FSA won't get involved because Cashplus aren't regulated by them. I have looked at the literature and it states the following
' *Cashplus is issued by APS Financial Ltd (AFL) pursuant to license by MasterCard International Incorporated. APS Financial Limited is authorised by the Financial Services Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money. Cards are serviced by Advanced Payment Solutions Ltd ("APS") which operates the card on behalf of AFL. AFL & APS registered address is 6th Floor, One London Wall, London EC2Y 5EB. Registered numbers 06029941 & 04947027. Cashplus is a registered trademark of APS. MasterCard is a registered trademark of MasterCard International Incorporated.
So legally how does that work if Cashplus is a trademark of a FSA regulated company? You have asserted that FSA won't 'get involved' could you explain a bit more since you claim to know? Thanks

Absolute rubbish. Not interested in any complaints. You transfer money to someone else as an immediate payment and the other person doesnt get it for about 6 days. You phone them ON A PREMIUM RATE NUMBER (10p per minute) operators are busy after about 5 times you get through and speak to someone who does not have a clue. They say they will have to contact head office and put you on hold. Costing 10p per minute.
You are getting charged for trying to sort of a problem which is caused by them!!!!!!!! They come back on after about 5 mins, and say the payment will be sorted out today. No explantgion where the money has been for the last few days.
You ask to speak to a manager. They are not interested. Do the Directors have a clue of what is going on in the company??????????
FSA need to get involved and sort it or close them down. They are like all the other banks. A BIg Con. Using peoples money witrhout permission and then blaming system errors. How many system errors can a company have. I have spoke to at least 10 other people and they have the same problem.
I have had a reply back from watchdog, and they are very intrested . No reply back from FSA yet.

There is nothing dodgey about this company...ingnore this foolish review...
Written on: 10/11/2012
I think you mean fair? Fare is what you pay on public transport. You have also made errors with ignore and dodgy. If you're going to state that a review is 'foolish' then i suggest you ensure your own comments are correct first. If you think the service is fantastic then it is your right to express that view. Others, myself included have not had a fantastic service hence why we have written about it here. Writing comments that are rude and littered with mistakes makes you look foolish.
Written on: 12/11/2012
Thanks for pointing out my spelling mistakes. English NOT being my first language, I am prone to misspelling words.
However, this does not make my comments incorrect as you put it and belittling someone for spelling errors is foolish on its own.
I'm sorry you found my comments rude but not reading T&Cs is rather silly...

I'm about to sign up for one of these cards and I have to say that those individuals who come up with utter rubbish along the lines of "do you want something for nothing", it is for people exactly like yourselves that we all find ourselves trapped in the hands of the current blood-sucking financial system.
IT IS NOT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.
YOU put YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY into a company's account, which enables the company to pool together the finances of MANY individuals to make one massive pile of money, for the COMPANY to invest in their interested fields and reap the rewards. In return, you're given a paltry rate of interest (in most cases). Nowadays, by charging you to use their bank, you're being ripped off but some of you idiots are too thick to even realise that and swallow everything the "financial experts" tell you through the box.
Yes the charges seem quite high but I'm a little confused too as on their site I was not able to select what type of card I exactly wanted. And now I have TWO letters of approval (without providing any ID details yet). One asks me to pay 4.95, the other 9.95. I want the full service (bank account, credit builder, etc.) so I shall see how it goes for now.

I am glad I don't bank with any of the high street banks. APS financial/mycashplus are great. I have a Gold Card with them and pay £4.95 per month and get my credit score repaired and up to £400 loan when and if I need it. Never got this with barclays over the 21 years I banked with them and mycashplus customer services are polite and never rude and i don't get charged for accidently going overdrawn. Ignore the moaners on here. Try mycashplus out they are excellent. All my friends have... (read more)

This is a good service, I'm giving it only 3 stars because they keep spamming me with offers I have opted out of receiving. They still send me spam mail even after I have unsubscribed. Whilst not a game-changer. They should respect your privacy and not spam you mails when you opt out. Naughty. (read more)

I am beginning to wonder about the financial security of this firm. I have been using this card for a few months with only one or two minor problems. Friday, bank holiday Friday, it mysteriously stopped working. I contacted straight after Easter and complained. Later that day I was told that my card had a technical problem which there IT dept will look into? Well it is now Wednesday night and guess what, the card still does not work and what makes matters worse is that my bookmaker has... (read more)

I applied for this card so I could use it online and minimize my exposure to potential fraud - since only the amount of credit I loaded onto the card could ever be taken. I have used my Cashplus Gold Mastercard for over two years now. I can't really fault it. It's a shame people have left negative reviews as they are clearly the ones lacking, not the card itself. It is NOT a rip off or scam. All the terms and conditions clearly state the services available and the charges. I would imagine... (read more)

I love the CashPlus Mastercard so much, and heres why. I cant help but laugh at so many of the reviews here. If you read the terms and conditions and run your card right, this really is one of the best offers out there. If however you are stupid and dont read things or do things correctly, then you expect all the headaches that you end up with! Firstly, to avoid the high call centre charges, try googling the london landline number, its listed as the number they offer when calling from... (read more)

i went bankrupt over a year ago so had to rusult to getting this card i hate it they rip you off when ever they here how 1, you get charged for withdrawels everytime you use card which really munches at your wages 2, you pay 3.50 for each withdrawal abraod 3, you get charged loads if you charge anything to your card abaord 5, if you dont load it with 1000 per month you get charge a amount everymonth 6, it costs a bomb to ring them and they will not ring you back if you run out of credit a... This is simply not true.
If you dont like being charged for the call, why not simply google the london landline number instead? Its local rate so very cheap
If you are withdrawing money abroad then why not just apply for their free add on card the euro card or us dollar card? its free and arrives within 3 days
You only get charged for the card to open the account. yes you have a monthly fee but nothing is free in this life, and i doubt any other bank wouldnt charge you in one way or another.
yes the £2 per withdrawal is a pain, so i tend to withdraw a chunk at a time to make it minimal cost or transfer it for free to someone who can withdraw it for free for me.
as for money the same day - thats nonsense too. if they put in money before 9am you will have it before midday. if they put in money before 3pm then you will have it by 7pm the same day.
It seems to me that you arent grown up enough to be running a bank account. have you tried a piggy bank?

I too am a grown up with financial problems that had to resort to CashPlus services because of greedy high-street banks. And I can say the above complainer is absolutely right, they chip in as much as they can everytime they can.
Why does their costumer service line have to charge over a pound per minute on calls from mobile?? They also have such an automated system that doesnt let you type in your imput before you listened to their signal, meaning they force you to stay as much as possible on the line. I dont have a land line but I found out calling them from street pay-phone booths is much cheaper, something like 1.20£ per average call.
If I get paid in with bank transfer I have to wait a few working hours of a working day for the money to show up on my online statement. Meaning if I get paid late after work on friday I only see the money mid-day monday. If I load in cash it is available instantly.
And now the bomb. My card got cancelled for not using it for a couple of months, So I called them on their over-charging line and they told me they need to cancel my card and send me a new one, because that is the procedure. Then costumer services person gave herself up by saying 'oh, it doesnt allow me to do that', but she still done it after finding a way around so I can get charged 10£ for having the service of getting my card changed.
So yes, if you are desperate enough you will get ripped off, but I guess everyone else does it so not a problem. Bow your head and carry on.
Otherwise I am quite happy with the servies, they stopped charging my monthly fee for some reason, I never withraw cash so I never lose even a penny.

With this card you have to phone a number to retrieve you pin. I tried time after time and it kept saying that it was unable to process my PIN at this time. I spoke to two Indian people who tried to make out that it was because I wasn't keying the number in quick enough.....I work with keyboards all day and I can touch type! I closed my account and they said they would refund my money.....lets see if that happens.... (read more)

Found out about this card back in 2009, applied straight away. 3 months later I recieved an email to state my £5 payments each month were being reported to credit agencys. I would adivse you top the card up with £60 then cut the card up. Then it just sits and does its work. After 12 months the account finished, I checked my credit score and it had rose from 450 to 524. It appeared as a loan that was fully paid with no missed payments. After the 12 months you get the chance to start the... (read more)

Hi,
I’m thinking about getting this card offer I saw in compareprepaid.co.uk. It is an exclusive offer from the web but I’d like to ask for some feedback first: Have you tried it? Is it as good as it sounds? Is it similar to Prepaid MasterCard?
Orange prepaid card is offering cash conscious consumers when they apply for an Orange Cash card a refund on their £5 application fee when they load £20 onto their account by February 29th, 2012.
Let me know please, cheers!

I bought this card to take on holiday, was told there was no standing fee and that there were no charges for using the card abroad. There is a £5 monthly fee and high transaction charges. The exchange rates appplied weren't all that great either. Do yourself a favour and get a fairfx card instead. (read more)

Very disapointing - I applied for the creditbuilder feature which is supposed to help you rebuild your credit by paying them 5 pounds a month. They are supposed to report your payments which will improve your credit rating. However, when I ordered my credit report I found none of my payments had been reported. I wrote to their customer service department but received no reply. Basically I have been paying these people for nothing. The basic card is fine but in my experience creditbuilder is... (read more)

It's only if you keep up the regular repayments for the full amount over the 12 months - that's all explained in the creditbuilder terms and conditions. Payments over a short month-to-month period wouldn't improve your credit rating in any instance, payments are only rated on a continuous longer term basis. The idea is to show you have a regular income over time and can reliably make consistent payments in the long run.

CashPlus is a great card overall, as long as you read the small print, which is all contained within the terms & conditions which you have to accept!
I use my CashPlus gold card for online transactions where the security may be a bit dubious, instead of using my bank issued Visa Debit card. I have also used it at ATMs, both UK and abroad and in shops, restaurants, etc. I have also been able to use it for car hire, which was really helpful as I just loaded it with enough to cover that...

I use the card to shop online - its got cashback linked to it and has purchase protection. I load the money from my bank account and its there the next day. I then buy the stuff I want and the money is spent, so no dodgy site can charge me twice or anything like that (I think of it like a spam email address, its the card I use because I don't trust the internet security). No problems so far, just a £1 fee for the sense of security. (read more)

I have been using this card for about six months now, and using it instead of a bank account, i get my wages paid into it everymonth, i can pay all my bills either by using it as a credit card or by transfers through the online members area, yes i pay just less than £10 a month as a standard fee, but with that i dont have to pay to make cash withdrawals, i get their credit builder which improves my credit rating and i also get cash back on all purchases which more or less covers my monthly...
