“Sales rip off”

Firstly they tried to charge 10k for my windows which was a rip off in the first place.The manager at the newcastle depot was extremely rude - the salesman told a lot of lies regarding the deals and they went from 20k to 6k without any justification.The manager then told me they couldn't do it for 6k unless I signed that night. “DO NOT USE ANGLIAN!!”

I thought because Anglian was so expensive that I would be getting a good service and product,I got neither! One of the windows ordered was obviously measured wrong,but instead of replacing it they simply hacked the wall away to make it fit leaving a jagged edge down one side of window,it looked horrid.Three months of phone calls and still no one has fixed this issue. “They want money for doing nothing.”

We took out an order with them on the 3rd May and they couldn't have been any more helpful. The Rep even defered our instaltion for 6 months as his neighbour was doing the same but once you cancel things change. On the 7th I lost my job and it meant that we couldn't carry on with the order and so sent off the form telling them we want to cancel. We used Anglian because we thought we would get a good service and a quality installation on our new house. The conservatory didn't fit and had to be re-made they left our house open and never returned for weeks. The fitters were not interested in putting anyone else work right as they don't get paid enough. What window company doesnt do WHITE WINDOWS......THIS ONE. But they wont tell you from the start... Had a visit from one of their salesman and agreed fee of £2200 for French doors. Deal agreed was A rated windows. Surveyor arrived 3 days later and measured up, at this point not mentioning any issue. Found out today that they dont actually do A rated doors, only windows, and that the surveyor had changed A rated to B rated without telling me and got me to sign paperwork without mentioning this. This review is based on two new UPVC doors I had fitted recently, with custom glasswork to the side of one. We had our old house redone in 2009 (windows, doors, the lot) by Anglian, and we were very pleased with the work then. I was very pleased with the quality of the new doors, and the efficiency of the fitter. There was hardly any mess. “Appointment not fulfilled”

I was informed at 10.25am AH did not have anybody to visit me for 10am appointment. Offered to visit me another time which I refused - if they cannot fulfil one appointment what confidence do I have with another appointment and their workmanship. My time was completely wasted. Totally unprofessional. Advised that HQ who make appointments do not know what times are available. We booked an appointment from Anglian to give us a quote for a substantial conservatory at the rear of the house. We had a phone call 50 mins before the rep was due to arrive, cancelling due to "car trouble". The fact was that he had recently returned from holiday and couldn't be bothered! This rang alarm bells so I searched for reviews and found I've had a lucky escape. Will steer well clear of them. (read more)

We have had an Anglian conservatory for over 25 years with no problems except it was old and became unbearably hot in the summer. We decided to replace it with a new one. The sales rep was very nice but the time stated to erect the new conservatory was much longer than agreed. It took many phone calls to hurry the matter along. I'm sorry but it's to late, your company will never repair our trust and faith. Your bullies with a terrible attitude towards your customers. You never return calls or worst letters. Your build quality is so bad, I the customer had to stop the work because it was so bad!! D.I.Y. In your brochure it states, all builders are professionals and qualified craft mans?
The customer service is so bad you might as well call it 'Rude and disrespectful service'! You have already lost £1000's of pounds from me not recommending you.

Anglian paid me a visit recently... based on the NEGATIVE comments I have seen (everywhere) I have decided in the best interests of ME not to continue with Anglian whatsoever. I'll spend my £20k+ with a smaller company, which has something they want to protect > their customer service.

Negitive Comments Everywhere - Only when deserved?
Pleased you have not gone with this dreadful company Anglian Windows/Home Improvements.
We have proved that their building work so far is very poor, we at our cost had to bring outside professionals to give written statement that the work was D.I.Y attempt...
I was told on countless times the work was very good by Anglian, if I did not stop them they would have carried on and erected the build. You get what you pay for, this company says it as good or better then the Best??
I wish you good luck with your purchase my advice is read the contract 10 times or more :-)
Keep a watchful eye on any build and don't part with money until end.

After saying that it was not conviencent to have the conservatory finished at this time, giving a further few weeks to have it finished. They then called my parents back to bully them into having it finished when it was best for them. All this has been done unproffional. (read more)

I signed a contract with Anglian to have my windows replaced. paid them the deposit they wanted and few days later they phoned me and said their salesman made a mistake and that contract was cancelled and they wanted to come to my house again and give me a new quote. My recent experiences with Anglian Windows would certainly make sure that I never use them again and definitely I will not recommend them to anyone. From sales through to installation to after sales service and rectification - all bad experiences. Even after receiving a letter from the CEO's office saying how important my issues were to them and that they would fully investigate and get back to me within 5 working days, 12 days later not a word from them. I would back [name removed] comments above. I am dealing with Basingstoke depot - installation and after sales is a joke. Installation carried out by sub contractors who have zero pride in doing a good job. Just do the minimum and try and cover up poor work before it can be seen. The formal complaints process via Norwich is looped back to the same depot to police. You cannot escalate anything - [name removed] you did well to get to CEO's office. My advice keep well away from them. As I have written in my own review - get an local builder and glazier to do the work, people who get repeat business from recommendations, not from spending millions in glossy advertising

It is to my utter regret that I trusted this company to install windows in my semi-detached house. A Catalogue of disasters, 2 surveyors useless, all measurements wrong, 3 sets of fitters to finish the job, plus an Area Manager, too many issues to list. Try contacting your local Trading Standards and/or taking some advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau. I addition you can do this:
The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so.

I was dreading getting double glazing installed as I was worried about getting ripped off and bad workmanship. However, my fears were misplaced. I got a reasonable price from the salesman - £2400 for 7 windows - without any fake sales tactics such as phoning the manager for a discount. A nice sales man, a good price, 12 good sized windows and a big french door for £4750. The door handles on the outside were seen as not quite lining up and this was fixed within a few days. I ordered a Panoramic Extension from them. On the agreed start date, and sub contracted builder arrived to start work. When I asked him if he would also be installing the steel frame this structure is based around he looked at me blankly. As an update. I am now 8 weeks into what was going to be a 3 week start to finish job. Only one days work this week, by an Anglian sub contractor any they came without a plan. I am telling you don't use them - don't open yourself up to the stress - its not worth it. Get a local builder and glazing company in, people that have pride in their work and rely on good customer service to get work. Not millions on advertising to catch the unaware.

Sounds like we have something in common, we are in sort of same position as you. I Regret the day I let Anglian into our home. Their customer service is dire and feel they can do what they please due to their small printed, unreadable contract.
They are bullies and very aggressive traders!!
Were you told by Anglain that their builders were all in house? I asked the question before signing and was told they were.
I will never ever recommend them now or when our build is finished, they have already lost £1000's from us not being able too.

Anglian Home improvements, what a joke! Placed order in January with one Rep but they messed up and sent another Rep out 5 weeks later. Finally got a date for fitting in late March. Fitters turned up with invoice for payment there and then. Invoice was for more than originally quoted. I later got a call from Anglian who on hearing I was going elsewhere asked me what it would take for me to chose Anglian. I wanted to be reasonably fair. The door unit seemed well priced and looks nice. If I had no other problems I would be very satisfied. On reflection I also made a major mistake paying the full balance at the time despite a minor feature being missing. I suspect a man with a knocker would have appeared very quickly if I had withheld payment until it was attached. I have somewhat limited bargaining power now and will just hope they finally complete sometime.

Had a substantial number of windows fitted a few years ago. Received a phone call out of the blue to inform us that we were half way through our 10 year warranty period and did we have any problems. Mentioned a couple of windows had settled and caught slightly when closing. Serviceman was round within 2 days. Sorted the problem and checked all windows. Ever so friendly and helpful up until the point we paid our deposit - then the designer tried to get away with saying my conservatory was a metre shorter than we agreed amongst a whole list of things. An Anglian salesman planned a conservatory for us, then a week or two later their surveyor came and said it would be impossible to proceed with the contract, due to technical problems. This was confirmed by a letter from their head office. Since then I have had a terrible time trying to get them to return the 10 per cent deposit. I chose anglian to fit my windows as they are a big well known company. BIG MISTAKE!! firstly told it would take 3 days to complete job only took 2 days the reason being it was a rushed job. there is a gap between window and window sill that lets a draft in and i can also see outside plus window sill basicly hanging off wall, kitchen window has draft plus crack undere window sill plus they cracked plaster down side and filled it in with silicon???? and also on all the windows the caseings do... This is completely the opposite of our AWFUL experience with them. We went to a local firm who were £2000 cheaper and did a first class job.
On the day the salesman was due they emailed me a voucher "worth £150" if i signed today. The salesman admitted it was a bad sales pressure tactic and that it " applied any time". He then quoted us a much higher price than his competitors. We bought elsewhere and are delighted with the result. Since then, we have been pestered by almost weekly phonecalls from Anglian who will not leave us alone. They are harrasing us repeatedly despite repeated please to be left alone. DO NOT CONTACT THEM; DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM, DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM, DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE EVER,EVER,EVER, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER, DO NOT LET ANY OF THEM MARRY YOUR DAUGHTER OR PAT YOUR DOG, EVER,EVER,EVER. I may be overstating slightly, but, on reflection, I think not.

I asked Anglian Windows to quote for some french doors I require. The salesman they sent round was the most rude, abrupt and unhelpful man I have ever met. I signed a contract for a composite door and paid my 10% deposit. After a month, they contacted me to let me know that they could not fit the door I chose, and they wanted me to pay extra for a fire rated door, that my building doesn't actually require. After 7 weeks they still hadn't surveyed the property, but kept asking me to have a fire rated door fitted. Finally I decided to cancel the contract, as they refused to fit the door I chose. The good: the salesman was professional & not a pushy as the Safe Style guy. The 2 guys who fitted the window were nice blokes. The windows were fitted on the correct dates. They hoovered up after themselves each day & took their rubbish with them. The not so good: the fitters started late & finished early everyday. I had windows and doors fitted by Anglian Windows . Quite frankly the company are absolutley awful. The front door does not close and has not been sealed. We have been left with a drafty hallway, we have had problems with the fittings of the windows, that dont close properley and we cant open properley. The after care service is appauling... I'd like to warn anyone who have considered hiring Anglian Home Improvements. We had a conservatory built by them and they ensured me that all the relevant approvals had been met. In fact they'd only applied for a planning application via the local authority. It was only when I decided to sell that it emerged that they had not applied for a Landlord's Permit, which is necessary in Leaseholds.
