Anglian employ dreadful American sales techniques. They start with extortionately high prices at then offer discounted prices which are still very expensive. If you decline the first quote they will offer lower prices but even their lowest price is not competitive with other reputable suppliers. “Poor quality product and hard-sell tactics”

Years ago (18 or so) we had a upvc door and side window installed. Initially, I didn't intend to change the wooden door and window but was persuaded by a pushy salesman. This is perhaps the worst mistake I've ever made while renovating a house! The door was ghastly and turned yellow in the middle almost right away. I made the mistake of going with Anglian 2 years ago - in my experience the products are still poor quality and installed very badly.

I would recommend steering clear of them - I'm sure they'll be in touch to pretend to fix things, but i found the customer service And product quality is poor, at best, from Anglian.

I purchased from the Birmingham branch and had many managers and several fitters visit, to attempt to fix over the 2 years, but failed - they admitted to the faults but couldn't fix them - I have been left with terrible looking, damaged , substandard items with no warranty, as Anglian have refused to put warranty on their own products and installation work.

I would recommend using a local company, as I will in future.

“THEY'RE TAKING THE MICK”

I had a really pleasant, helpful, rookie salesman who had to refer to his manager who was a hardnosed salesman. I bought uPVC windows and a wooden front door. Window quality not bad but installation was not good. They did not use dustsheets over the furniture. I had them back to redo mastic around windows. Sorry to hear your problems with Anglian - if you paid on your credit card any money, speak to them and claim under section 75.

It sounds like the install is not fit for purpose so should be a good case.

I suggest keeping records of conversations, emails etc.

On my installation by Anglian, a 6 year old child could have done a better job - seriously there isn't a part salvageable.

I would recommend to anyone stuck in a contract with anglian, to pay on credit card and claim under section 75.

I will use a local company in future.

“Excellent but after service is poor ”

We had our windows fitted in July 2014. We are very happy with the quality and work carried out by the fitters.Salesman was very freindly and helpful. We have just had couple of minor issues such as one of the side window pattern is slightly different then the front windows and one of the bedroom window was fitted by the apprentice fitter and it doesn't open or close properly and catches on window latch .We have made number of calls to Anglian to get it sorted but no joy yet ! … Read Full Review

Sorry to hear your issues with Anglian - I have experienced many issues with Anglian from poor service through to poor quality goods and installations - Anglian admited they couldnt fix the faults and the only solution was to get my money back through my credit card company under section 75.

“Anglian timberland windows are not bespoke!”

The Anglian timberland windows brochure claims frequently that the products are' bespoke' and ' manufactured to customers specific requirements' this is not true. They are standard frames and profiles being passed off as bespoke. DO NOT BUY without asking for a scale drawing first...they will end up nothing like you asked for. “BAD CHOICE”

Nice salesman. Shoddy installation on uPVC windows - had to have them back to re-mastic the windows. Sash window rattles in wind when open. Wooden door - frame fitted skew so light showed between door and frame unless handle-up locked. Only 1.5mm catch on latch and handle-up lock can be opened from outside! Paint quality very poor with cracks in the mitring on the panels. Door surround pine planks (no knotting solution)with chunks out of it. Did you pay any money on your credit card to Anglian - you could claim under section 75.

Now Anglian have your money , the interest of putting right will have gone!! Speak to trading standards.

“Very poor management and after sales support”

Had windows and doors installed and the workmen were great and did a good job, however had a problem after about a week with my door, I was unable to shut or lock it properly. Called the company and was told a manager would be out to see me 10am the next day. It is extremely bad they they left you with a broken door, especially considering it was the incompetence of the fitters that caused it !! Have they offered compensation?

No i was only given an apology by the admin team. Got talked into having the gutters done now and the materials look like they have been dragged around the floor. Ive made a compliant through their facebook page this morning so will keep you all updated through here

I have had work done by Anglian of the same poor quality - the original items arrived and where badly damaged (looked like they had been dragged around the warehouse) - the 3 further replacements have all had the same issues - I have been left with substandard items which Anglian do not care about. In fact i have a 2 month old set of doors and windows which have no warranty and are fit for the skip

according to Anglian damaged items, mismatched colour panels, odd profiles etc and poor installation work are to their quality standards - I certainly wouldn't trust them again. I will use a local company from now on.

“LEAKING CONSERVATORY”

I would like to warn anyone against getting a conservatory built by Anglian. We have had a conservaory built by them 8 years ago, which leaks whenver there is heavy rain. “Simple - Do Not Use!”

We had three quotes for a new composite door. Anglian were in the middle price range, with a door that I really liked so we chose to go with them. Once they have made the sale and received the payment, Anglian do not appear to show any interest in the customer care side - I have been left with substandard goods and will have to replace at my cost. I am having to throw away windows and doors which are only a few weeks old because of poor quality and bad installation work.

I agree that looking elsewhere is the best option - I would recommend using a local company.

Just had a conservatory put in - seems good and reasonable price. However, had numerous cases of "we've got no record of that call" and "that person has now left and didn't pass on the information" leading to many arguments. Main workmen were lovely and did a good job. Electrician was useless - didn't turn up (the other workmen complained repeatedly to their own office), then turned up when no one was home. I would recommend keeping a log of calls , emails etc, just in case. The fact they have no record and are making excuses,would suggest that Anglian have internal issues with call logging and data management.

“Poor after sales service”

I had my porch done end of July. wrong colour handles; the door handle didn't match the letter box; door had to be locked with keys only; slam shut door lock didn't work; one of the windows doesn't shut fully. I have had the similar issues with the locks and handles - the locks are always stiff and notchy and on each remake the handles and locks would come loose.- in fact the handles on 2 occasions have dropped off.

The latest install came with a supposed to be Brand new handle, that was badly scratched.

The items are so badly made and fitted, Anglian have refused to put a warranty on their own work and are now ignoring the problems.

I will only use a recommended local company from now on.

Due to time, I have had to let them think they won, so I can remove the substandard products and replace it with some quality products by a local company.

The more customers that contact trading standards the better chance of getting a result.

Fortunately I withheld 10% of cost but I expect to be forced to pay it in the end. I'll hold out as long as possible but have to balance that against the warranty and the stress. Sometimes it's best just to cut your losses and get on with life but I don't like being messed about like that.
It's such a pity because a lot of the problems could be sorted with better communication..... well I suppose communication is a large part of the problem. I've looked on the internet but I can't see how to inform Trading Standards without going in to a Citizen's Advice office.

I understand what you say - Anglian lied to me from start to Finish. Even their solicitor didn't tell me the truth.

Contact your local trading standards through your local council.

I had to let them think they won because I couldn't take the stress and I want to get my house finished before I sell it.

Windows were not ready when the salesperson told us they would be (as we needed them in time for our kitchen re-fit). Then on the planned day of fitting (a letter had been sent to confirm the date/time) the appointment was cancelled as 'apparently' the fitter had called in sick. Anglian used the fitter being sick as an excuse on one of my many substandard installs - they also used the excuse that the fitter had been sacked, although he left because of how badly he was treated by Anglian.

this firm must be up for an award for bad service never return calls always at lunch. If they do turn up for repair will argue with you saying can't do job parking have other things to do . The Birmingham branch who supplied my substandard products were arrogant and towards the end very rude. They would put you on hold and not put the call through.

I'm considering speaking to watchdog and rogue traders to see if they are doing a feature.

“Don't touch them!”

Customer service awful. Never offered restrictor hinges at point of sale and now they are unsure whether they can be fitted, and that it will be chargeable if they can be. I said I wpuld have got them financed with the original loan and can't afford it now. Apparently it's tough! The salesman we saw was good at his job & gave us a great deal & said windows would be 8weeks, took surveyor 3weeks to come & he told us would be about 8 weeks (that already was going to take us over the initial 8weeks we were told) because they had to get planning permission, all the work we are doing on our property was booked around this 8 weeks, have just found out surveyor took nearly 3weeks to hand paperwork to Anglian architect & local planning office didn't receive paperwork from them… Read Full Review

“Trouble with conservatory from minute the plans were...”

They sold us an Anglian conservatory in 2007 approximately and we haven't been happy with Anglian for various reasons, including the fact that right from the start, they got the plans for Harrow wrong which delayed the work starting.A bad omen. However our main problem with them has been that we have not been able to close the exterior doors of the conservatory, whenever it's either too hot or too cold outside.. I totally understand your frustrations - did you pay your deposit or any of the payment with your credit card? Under section 75 the credit card company are jointly liable.

I would also consider contacting trading standards and watchdog.

“Do not trust this company ”

Their sale rep tried to sell finance package to me rather than windows and pushed me to sign the contract on the day which I refused. The worst customer service ever, They never got back to me with my complain about my survey( they suppose to arrange it in first week and never did it).
