The Cometa -50 is a good air rifle but not even powerfull enough to knock down a knock down target

This Cometa -50 (Junior rifle) is a good young boys/girls starter airgun and for the money represents excellent value. I bought one second hand for £40 for my sons 10th birthday. I stripped the stock as it had some chips in the varnish. Stained and oiled it now looks very nice. The power is perfectly adequate (and I would say safe) for a youngster - it will go straight through beer cans (.177) at 15yds. Its not a 12 ft lb gun and neither should it be for a youngster. I have Weirach and ...

Ive had this Cometa -50 gun for just under 12 months and i think it is fantastic. i picked it up for £50 second hand equipped with a 4x40 nikko sterling silvercrown on. I have now added a sound moderator and an oxspring and it is brilliant. I have also put a
3-9-40 optic scope and I highly recomend it for junior shooters like myself. I have knocked down the occasional rabbit and pigeon with ease and these always go in the stew pot.

Altogether the Cometa -50 is a brilliant gun for anyone ...

Ive had this rifle for 4 months and its rusting, losing power, uughh its just a horrible gun. I do not reccomend to anyone do not buy. It is quite light and its very cheap but the lack of accuracy and power are two very big problems.

Great easy to use gun. Very light and easy to get in shoulder. It was a bit fiddly as the pellet could sometimes fall out. I would recommend the Cometa 50 s a good air rifle for the money.

I bought the Cometa for a bit backyard plinking
I shoot matches with veteran rifles
Just before a match i need to relax so i use the Cometa for that because in Holland you can not shoot a firearm in your backyard
So it is a nice gun for a bit of plinking on short distances like 7 to 10 meters and a nice beginners gun

My brother bought a Cometa -50 the other day-his first gun so he wanted a cheap one. He was very disappointed with it was puny and quite heavy for the power. It was not a good beginners gun at all, it's put him off shooting forever. Do not buy this gun!

I bought the Cometa -50 (Junior Rifle) for my sons Christmas box because my Air Arms S200 is a tad too big for him. I set the 3-9-40 scope up for him and then took him shooting, we shot some squirrels but the noise just scared them all off. Wood pigeons at 25-30 yards the pellets just bounced off, what aload of rubbish. Don't buy one.
I put it over my F-1 cromo and it gets 5.5 ft lb
    with 2 types pellets.
    Don't waste your cash too.

Don't ever buy it, you will be wasting your money. You would be better off buying a water pistol.

I bought the rifle for my 9 year old son this xmas. I am pleased with the quality of construction for such a cheap gun. The blueing is good along with the woodwork finish. The power and accuracy is perfectly ok for a child, straight through a tin can at 10 yrds!! (this is very powerful compared with my sons Gat gun!)
The rifle is far more suitable for a young child than my 97K. so come on lads horses for courses and no more silly talk of spud guns!!!

I got the Cometa 50 for christmas, along with a 4x20 scope. The rifle performs well, and after an hour of calibrating, is amazingly accurate. It is also perfet for me as it isn't too heavy and is very well balanced. The auto-matic safety is a nice feature to see, but is easier to turn off than turn on and doesnt always engage. I didn't really expect it to perform as well as it does, and for around £85 it is unbeatable value.

I had heard this Cometa -50 rifle would be quite noisy, but found it no louder than me Webley Raider with silencer to be honest. Sean and I approached a tree on our shoot whilst after woodpigeon, and were rewarded with the sight of a magpie appearing barely 10 yards away. Sean dispatched the bird easily from this distance with the 50, surprisingly with little fuss. So in answer to Mathew's question I would suggest that 10 yards for small/medium quarry may be a good starting point?

I have had the Cometa for about a year now, i bought it off my friend who now has a weihrauck HW 80 custom stock. This rifle is only good for under 15 year olds because it has terrible power and it sounds like a potatoe gun I don't use it very much now cos im getting a new rifle either a webley tomahawk or weihrauch HW 97 K mkII
