As the five year service cover on my Bauknecht WAE8987 expired, I was invited to take out a further one year cover at a cost of £118.00. This seemed a lot of money for 1 year, when there had never been a problem. Four months later, I wish I had the benefit of hindsight. The bearings have now worn out, I called in a service engineer, who is suggesting that I scrap the machine as the parts are so expensive, and the machine difficult to work on. He is afraid of seeing me pay a large bill for repairs, only to find a different fault developing soon. My initial plan was to buy a good quality machine which would stand the test of time. The initial cost of £655 for machine and Five Year Service agreement should have been a better investment than it has proved to be.
