Good Points: It has been going for six years with nothing really wrong with it. The filter became blocked and I sorted it out myself. Reading their Troubleshooting guide.
I like it because it has a timer and we get cheap electric at night so I set the wash to come on at 2/3 in the morning.

Bad Points: The service centre was Whirlpool and very poor.

General comments: I bought my Bauchnect washing machine 6 years ago from Comet and took out the extended repair as I am ashamed to say they did a bit of a sales pitch on me. and it was a total waste of money. I would never buy an extended warranty on anything again.

As the five year service cover on my Bauknecht WAE8987 expired, I was invited to take out a further one year cover at a cost of £118.00. This seemed a lot of money for 1 year, when there had never been a problem. Four months later, I wish I had the benefit of hindsight. The bearings have now worn out, I called in a service engineer, who is suggesting that I scrap the machine as the parts are so expensive, and the machine difficult to work on. He is afraid of seeing me pay a large bill for ...

We purchased a Bauknecht WAE8987 washing machine 2 years ago, and it has been used almost daily. The door and dials have been fiddled and played with by our young children, and I have to say we have been delighted with this machine's performance and reliability. It has never gone wrong, and if it does ever go wrong we paid an additional £50 or so to extend the Bauchnecht warranty to 8 years, so we have no concerns about repairs.

Bauknecht WAE8987 - Water stop indicator coming on to regular when there is no fault, brushes on motor, one half worn, the other ok ???? Replaced, the motor itself arc-ing, the machine is 18 months old, it does not have to contend with heavy laundry loads every week as there are only the two of us at home now. Local engineer does not seem to keen to work on it..........was bought from Comet.

Don't touch one of these Bauchnecht WAE8987 washing machines if you want a prompt repair. We purchased a Bauchnecht from Comet 18 months ago. Our motor failed in January and Comet took over a week to come and assess the machine, quoted 10 days for delivery of the motor which then arrived a day late. We were then quoted a further week for an engineer to roll up and repair it - 25 days. Comet's disinterested reply was "we just sell the machines" when we pointed out that we had specifically ask ...

Machine has a 'water stop' feature designed to prevent flooding, supposed to cut in if too much detergent put in or if a leak develops. This was cutting in with frequent regularity causing the machine to stop with a load inside and the display to flash A--A and F--F simultaneously. The solution - to unplug the machine, wait three minutes and remove the laundry, no further use would be possible for at least 24 hours when the machine would rest itself and a fresh cycle could be attempted.
