i got the 1077 a week ago to replace my crossman 1022 air pistol (seizd up)wich in turn replaced my crossman phantom 1000x (shot the spring) my opinion is stay away from crosman air rifles/pistols as they are cheaply made and certainly not made to last the 1077 looks nice and feels nice but at just 3lbs its way too light and the stock is hollow plastic wich gives off that cheaply made feeling . the trigger and reload could have been better designed too as the draw from the trigger reloads. the problem...

I have had several problems with the crosman 1077. The first one I bought leaked c02 and dropped power significantly after each shot, so I took it back and turned out it was faulty so i got a refund. The next one I got worked fine for a few months got around 2 and half clips per co2, I fitted a red dot sight and it was very accurate at around 25 yards. But after afew months after buying it, it keeps jamming and missing out pellets on the rotary clip, and at the moment the trigger jams up. I am also...

Crosman 1077 excellent gun haven't tried any small game but great for plinking- target shooting, the 12 shot clip makes it fun shoot single or rapid fire. I bought a $7. tasco crosshair scope and even though it was accurate before just that much better. Used several types ammo and they all worked well.I wanted a co2 rifle so i won't complain about the 45-48 shot from one co2 power than is gone. Overall great gun, considering its brother the nightstalker uses same 12 shot clip. I originally was going...

Excellent gun, great for short / medium range plinking, providing hours of fun. Biggest problem is it's just too easy to get rid of 100 shots! I bought 3 extra magazines with mine & together with the one that comes with the rifle gives 48 shots, after which I change the co2 capsule. With the semi-auto action that can be as little as a few minutes! I tried fitting an SMK 3-9x32 sight but just couldn't get it as accurate as I wanted so I've gone back to the open sights and it performs great with...

I have been using this cartridge Airgun for 5 years. The only thing Negative is the Trigger Pull. You have to pull the trigger to rotate (the 12 shot rotary clip) and then the mechanism fires the pellet. It isn't crisp. It is a long tensioned pull & then fire. So, when you start the pull to the firing of the pellet, you can have (un-wanted) movement. Otherwise, all ather aspects are great. 12 shots without reloading is a tremendous plus. I would have liked to know about the trigger pull before I...

The front sight is nice. Working with pellets is a bit different, I'm used to BB's. I also bought 2 magazines and the extra clips. I load 48 pellets at a time and then fire 48 pellets very quickly. Nice quality and fit for a low price CO2 air gun. Now I will add a sling and go do more plinking! Enjoy yours,...

Its an amazing Air rifle, Really accurate even shooting on the open sights, but much better with a scope. I bought the new version it comes with an adapter so you can attach the larger co2 bottles which fire up to 400 shots and is still comfortable to hold and shoot with. 12 shot magazine is really handy as well and extra magazines are fairly cheap. All in all, this is a solidly mediocre air rifle. It does what it is supposed to and with my 4x32AO scope, the pellets generally hit what I'm aiming at. In general, it is not suitable for hunting, because of it's limited range and minimal stopping power, but given the right circumstances, it will kill things like squirrels and birds. I've had this gun for about 5 years and never even bothered to try and kill anything with it, but today there was a squirrel sitting about 10 yards off, on a tree limb...

I bought my 1077 at a garage sale for $25. Though it is quite old (7 years) it has only been used a couple times and works as good as new. When I shot this, I was amazed that even after 7 years it holds CO2 almost as it did when it was new (after some using some trusty pellgun oil). I can get clean head shot kills at 20-30 yards easily and sometimes further if I compensate correctly. I really want to use it to kill grey squirrels that have invaded my loft and am told by the dealer it is powerful enough to kill them. I also purchased a 4x scope. Please explain how you did your trigger modification. I just purchased a 1077 and find the hard trigger pull very annoying and a hindrance to accuracy. Also, how many shots do you typically get out of a 12 gram powerlet? Lastly, one of the other reviews mentioned a silencer. Since your post indicates you have many Crosman airguns, perhaps you have one or know where to obtain one. I too, have several older Crosmans, including my favorite, a .22 pump, that has tremendous penetration power, that is about 30 years old now and still works fine. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

I just wrote re silencer and trigger pull modification. I think my new 1077 is already leaking CO2 because I can hear a slight hissing. May explain why I'm only getting about 3 clips use out of a powerlet. Have you had this problem, if so, how did you fix? Maybe I should just return it or exchange it. Have you tried the AirSource kit?

Hi cactuscutter, 1st i bought my silencer with the gun from uttings in the uk, the 1077 is fairly quiet but i use mine indoors so as to keep the neighbours happy i use the silencer which works quiet well. 2nd, sounds as if you have a faulty gun as i get about 50/60 shots of which 40/45 are any good for accurate target shooting at about 10 yards. 3rdly, don't mess with the trigger unless you know what you are doing as i read on the crosman forum of how to up power and ease the trigger but on reassembling a small piece fell out and for the life of me couldn't find where it went even after looking at the exploded views of it , and when i had it back together it only shot at around 1.5 lb/ft and had to send it back to Crosmans rep and when i got it back thy sent a sarky note with it saying don't mess with it again, but thy didn't charge me this time, even when my excuse failed. hope this helps. p.s. i put a diopter sight on mine and had to put a higher front sight on to zero in.

I bought a Crosman 1077 a few months ago, and this is the first time I have had a chance to write some reviews. Well, on receiving my rifle from Uttings, I also got the silencer and some spare mags, which is a must for this rapid fire gun. As has been said you can go through a mag in 2 seconds, or thereabouts, only stopping to change mags and let the CO2 warm up for another amazing burst. The silencer works, which helps with me firing it indoors, and it also keeps her-indoors happy. The power isn't...

I put a small 4x15 scope on this Crosman model 1077 as the open sights aren't much. It hits pretty much where I aim it, for a few shots. It has the same problem a lot of CO2 repeaters have, quick successive shots chill down the CO2 cartridge. If you want to get full use of your CO2 you'll need to shoot a few shots and lay the rifle aside, possibly shoot a different airgun for a while.
Neither would I consider using this rifle to kill anything, except possibly a mouse. It simply doesn't...
Written on: 04/05/2007
I disagree about not using it to kill anything but a mouse. I regularly use mine for pest control. I've had a horrible time with Grey Squirrels and Chipmunks over the past fwe years. This gun is dead on with stock fiber sights. One shot to the head kills them quick. I've hit them as far away as 40 feet no problem.
Written on: 05/06/2007
Well I've read up on the power it'd supposed to have. It could be that mine's just a little weak, theres always the chance that it's just a fluky rifle. I had considered getting the kit for the large co2 bottle, but I going to have to get better performance. I'm glad you've had good luck with yours.

By the way, the picture at the top of this page is a Rabbit Stoper, not a 1077. Just thought I'd mention that the wrong rifle is pictured, the picture above is a Crosman 2260, a fine rifle I like very much. If you chek my review on it (it's also been called a "Rabbit Stoper" but I believe Crosman has dropped that) you'll find I rate it very high. It confused me a few seconds when i first looked here.

I would also have to disagree with only using the 1077 to kill a mouse. I can get squirrel kills at 20-30 yards with a head shot easily possibly even further with a head shot and a few body shots. All of my kills have also been a drop dead clean kill. The 1077 is a great gun.

OK, uncle...I'm beginning to think that the trouble is with my rifle. The official line is 625fps and that would probably be with lasers or such it was rated before PBA ammo was around. But, my experience with the rifle has been somewhat disappointing. As I said before to my first insensed reader, I'm glad your rifle is "as presented". The only review I can give is from my own experience, and my rifle failed to perform.
Written on: 06/10/2007
Ok guys, i see I got an "unhelpful" on this. I resighted my 1077W today and put a couple more cartridges through it. It seems to be working well, it hits where I aim it (25 yards and easily hits the x ring), but I would not use this rifle for anything other than small rodents. If yours does better good, but at 25 yards a domed pellet buries it's head in a board, but no more. I suppose it would take a squirrel as its about the size of a mouse, but I have rifles that I would feel more confident about making a humane kill. This is a good plinker and I'd take birds or small rodents but nothing larger. I like the rifle, for what it is. If yours hits harder I'm happy for you, mine doesn't.

Bought this Crosman 1077 because it's the only .177 co2 repeater out there. The rear sight is of cheap design and ws bent on mine so I took it out and put a Daisy 4x15 scope on it - what a combo, cheap and fun! The semi-auto action and feel is absolutely hilarious and works great, it too bad that the gun is too low powered to hunt gophers unless they let me get closer than 10 yards, and then I don't think I'd hurt one until I got to 6-7 yards. It could accurately hit a pellet tin from 33 feet out,...

It surely is not a springer now is it? Not a hunting weapon unless that is all you got to work with. I can see the pellets through the scope making there way to the target on about the 2nd clip. But, I only get 2 good clips anyway.

i forgot to mention, my rear sight was bent to the left also. The sight was over center, leaning to the right side of the barrel. tried to fix it, nope went right back. The Crossman 1077 is a nice plinking semi auto rifle, accurate and quick shooting. I guess about average in its use of CO2. I'm able to get about 48-50 shots before the accuracy starts to fail. I wouldn't recommend it for hunting. But if you need too use it for hunting use Gamo Raptor pellets, these will increase the rifle's velocity up to about 750 fps.
Also use a fresh CO2 to get the highest velocity. The Raptors shot pretty well in my 1077. Production quality may be a question with the rifle....
Written on: 13/06/2006
i've heard bad, bad things about the raptor. many people say it gets lousy groups. also, you need to know fps is not everything. in fact, lighter pellets will loose their power downrange, as opposed to heavy pellets, which maintain a more constant speed. just think of it like this= someone has rigged a cannon to shoot pop cans. one is full, the other empty. at first, the empty can will go much faster, but will very soon slow down and drop. the full can will be slower, but will maintain its flight pattern. this is a common misconception among airguns. one more thing to remember, is that velocities as advertised on the boxes are shot with ultra light pellets, such as the gamo raptor. by using it, you get the same velocities, not higher. every other pellet is slower. keep this in mind, and you wont be so disappointed with the performance.

Like I said, out of the box, Crosman 1077 power is terrible. I fixed that by taking the hammer spring, holding an open flame under it for a few seconds, (that loosens up the metal, in case you didn't know.) then stretch it out, just a little bit. This weakens it, making it hit the valve longer, and let more gas through. It now shoots a solid 700+ FPS. The accuracy is sometimes overrated, sometimes under. I'll state it like this. It's almost as good as a Powerline 880. Once it's sighted in, you shouldn't...

I am confused by holding the hammer spring under a flame and strecthing it longer??? It is very important that when loading the pellets into the 12 round clip you take the few seconds to use a ball point pen to seat the pellet firmly in the center of the hole. You must make sure that the point doesn't extend to far forward the the back doesn't extend too far back. THis sounds like a hassle but it takes only a few seconds. Quite easy and very fast. When pushing the pellet in with by ball point pen I keep a finger pressed against the front of the hole as this makes it easy not to press too far forward. If you don't do this the rifle will jam all the time. I have not had one single jam with mine because I read about this technique before I bought the gun.
It tells you how to load the c02 correctly. Did you try screwing the thing on all the way once you but the c02 in? I screw it on by hand untill there are about 3 threads still visible. Then I try shooting it, and if it doesn't, I screw it in alittle more until it shots. Works fine for me.........

You are doing something wrong, make sure the barrel latch is in the forward position when you shoot.
Written on: 27/12/2006
Correction. The barrel latch should be in the rear position. The 1077 have a movable barrel. Some people glue it in place to improve accuracy.

The Crosman 1077 rifle looks and feels like a toy, but it's just perfect for indoor and backyard-range shooting. I suspect that if it had a good single action trigger and a decent rear sight, it could almost reach the accuracy of a match rifle. It's all made of plastic, so don't expect it to last forever, but enjoy its great fun-factor as long as it keeps working. Here in Italy it comes for €160, which is simply unaccettable compared with the U.S. price. I would recommend it only to those who...

Ok....... first good things.
Put in a co2 builb and pull the trigger, seems like i'm not telling the truth but I am. It fires 12 shots as fast as you can pull the trigger, but I don't recommend this as it loses velocity after the first 6. I have fired 6 in about a second or so and the feel of hitting a target with six pellets is pretty good. The gun's power is around 10ft lbs but on the first 5 shots or so it is so much more powerful, I might just have a faulty model but a fresh bulb really...

I made a modification adapter so i can use it with paintball tanks instead of getting 5 power shots using standard powerlets you get about 1000 shots with high power email me and i will tell you all about it. Email: rfonz21@aol.com.

After nearly a decade of service without any repairs and only light maintenance this airgun has outperformed my expectations. I believe mine fires at or above the advertised 625 fps. Riding atop my 1077 is a same vintage Bushnell 4x32 scope. I have rarely missed my mark with this combination. I find my airgun gets approximately 66 shots per CO2 powerlet then croaks. Power, not accuracy seems to drop off at about 35 yards. The combination of good looks, light weight, reasonable efficency and low...

Thats just about my opinion on this rifle most of the people that complains are apparently having users problems or got a lemon. I have two and they are really fun to shoot, 12 shots right after another up to 4 mags so my guns gotten more effienct but not as good as yours.
I'm getting only 48 power shots and probably 60 before the capsule is empty.

Inside 25 yards its very accurate and at 10 yards because its recoiless it super accurate 1 hole 3 shot groups on 5 different 1" target.

For the money its one of my most satisfying air rifles. I pity the mouse that this rifles cross hairs are on (inside 15-20 yards).

The Crossman model 1077 Air Rifle doing 550fps shooting 7.9 Crosman WC its a nice little semi-auto & pretty accurate. Shooting the 7.4 gold Beeman I probably could get close to 600fps.
I had heard that this rifle had problems with power, accuracy and workamnship in general, I did not find this to be true. I've heard that if a pellet gets stuck in the barrel there is no way to unstick it unless you send it back to Crosman. Thats untrue a air gun cleaner rod pushes it right out, it jammed...

I've had my Crossman model 1077 Air Rifle for 4 weeks now, i've used it two or three times and there are now big problems when I'm loading the c02 - as i'm screwing the cap in all the c02 explodes(?) out, it has done the same when i've loaded it up another 3 times. I'm waiting to here from the shop now to see what they can come up with....

Sounds like you got a lemon and your cap seal is leaking.
I have two Crosman 1077s both are very accurate inside 25 yards, ones scoped the others iron sights both have reliable Co2 functions from loading, shooting and unloading. Both have probably 400 rounds through them, Others have clocked 10,000 and still kicking.
I'm getting 48 power shots before I lose the same power and its start shooting low. I could probably get 50 shots out of it but I'd have to start aiming higher so I usually just eject/pull out the magazine and rapid fire to empty the spent Co2 capsules.
If you get yours working you wil find that it is a fun pellet rifle almost like having a silenced Ruger 1022 size and handling.
If not trash that one and buy one of the reman'd 1077 from Compasseco Inc for $33.95. Like I said I have two.

The same happened with me but if you just send it back to crossman or the shop where you bought it from they will give you a new one. It is just a faulty gun.

You definitely need a new CO2 cartridges seal. Please send the gun back before it causes danger to you. It happened to my Gamo P23.

The Crossman model 1077 Air Rifle doing 485-520fps 7.9 Crosman WC its a nice little semi-auto pretty accurate and no jams. I had heard that this rifle had problems with accuracy and was problem prone in general, I did not find this to be true.
After setting the iron sights it cut the center out at 13 yards benched. It shot the cap top of oil bottle at the same range going all the way thru. It also went thru one side of a empty pellet tin numerous times leaving a bad dents on other side....

I don't know if anyone has told you about the Airsource conversion kit for the 1007, but I just converted mine & I love it. Although I liked my 1077 before, I felt like the powerlets limited me a lot. Once I installed the Airsource kit, I was able to take rodents from @ 30-40 feet away - with pinpoint accuracy. I also set mine up with an NCStar mini scope w/high rise rings, which allows me to see through the rings & use the iron sights if need be.
Just thought I'd pass it along!

I received the 1077 as a christmas present from a relative who got it from Canadian Tire. I have put upwards of 10,000 pellets through it and it has been abused regularly by me and my friends and still shoots fine. The gun is great, it is one of the very few true semi-automatic pellet guns on the market, and it's a blast to shoot.
Power:
The canadian version is capped at 495 FPS, but this is no major drawback although indivual shots aren't super powerful, the ability to unload an entire...

I am having dificulty finding the right pellets to fire. Using 4x28 sights and a bipod, one brand fires left, one right, and others way down left or way down right. I know that the CO2 cartridge fades, but these tests were done using a new bulb and full mag each time. I would appreciate any help or advice.

Did you try using just the standard Crosman pellets? This gun might not be able to handle heavy pellets.
Written on: 30/09/2005
I use the standard Crosman .177 Pointed Tips and they work perfectly.

Hi, the batteries in the sight are available from most stores, they are the flat penny ones, it takes one cr2032, should only cost around $4 a pair , if you have the same copperhead sight as me, then just take off the cover under the front of the sight and replace battery, hope this helps, cheers, Colonel chimp

Crossman model 1077:
I am an avid collector of all kinds weapons, and consider my collection of air rifles and pistols to be as important as the rest of my collection -mainly because I can shoot and enjoy them in my own backyard (as opposed to my Winchester 30-30s, for example!).
I bought the Model 1007 because I've always liked semi auto pellguns & thought this rifle would make a great addition. Like my Dad (who was a Marine sniper), I'm teaching my kids the awesome responsibility...

I bought the 1077 almost a year ago and now it's hardly being used. Since new it was shooting very poorly, so I decided to test it on a chrono since a lot of the time I can see the pelllet left the barrel and what a surprise the rifle is only shooting at an average 250 fps. No wonder I can see the pellet left the barrel. Well for now I just put it where the sun don't shine until I got time one day to take it apart and see if it can be improved.
I strongly recommend my friends NOT to buy it....

Are you sure your chronny is in fps, or is it mps (meters per second)? 250mps is a bit high for that rifle, (the advertised velocity is 625fps), but it's not unheard of. How slow do you think the pellet is going? Just take a guess, because sometimes chronnies can sometimes be not as accurate as you would think down at low velocities. After all, I have 20-40 vision, and I can see a pellet leave the barrel of my Benjamin 392LE, my Gamo Shadow 1000, and my Daisy Powerline 880. And with glasses, I can occasionally pick up a standard velocity .22lr rimfire round. If all that you say is correct, then I would first take it apart if it's past its 1 year warranty, and take a look at the co2 release mechanism. It might not be releasing enough c02 per shot. There's a simple fix for that. Just take the mainspring, hold it over an open flame, ie. a butane lighter, and stretch it out a bit. This will weaken the spring and allow the hammer to hit the valve longer and release more co2 per shot. Good luck.
