    Good Points: Reliable and inexpensive.

Bad Points: Added a new sound card and speakers right away. The older emachines had lousy cards and speakers.

General comments: Overall, I would rate it a 10 if it had good sound when I bought it 7 years ago so 9 would be my original overall rating. Today, I would rate it a 7 overall.

It won't run some high intensity games. I haven't tried video capturing or upgrading USB 1.0., although I would recommend getting a faster computer for that.

I do run windows XP home with Office 2003 pro. I've been able to hit a 521 pr rating with 256 MB memory (maxed). I run two 120GB hard drives, and lite on 56x +/-re/write CD and 4x +/- re/write single layer DVD combo burner. I clean and lube the cpu fan every year and only replaced one clock (watch) battery.

With a high speed Internet 3MB/s and a 17inch monitor it still rocks online. Still works great for photo scanning, editing, printing with my hp psc750. Also, great for photo editing, video playing from downloaded files from my cannon powershot s2is digital camera.

A USB 2.0 port is all I could ask for now. As for me, I feel the etower 433i still rates a 9. It would make a good first computer. Sometimes I find old eMachines (or similar systems) and fix them up and sell them to friends at cost.
