General comments: If you are looking for something rude and funny, this is not for you. This is a very serious, though often witty, collection of monologues, superbly written and performed in audio by the author Eve Ensler. I am writing this review not even sure if it will be approved by the Review Centre being about a subject that is not commonly talked or written about and that many find an embarrassment. The subject of the Vagina.

Eve has performed these monologues in front of sell out audiences in theatres, I would love to see her perform live but alas I have to listen to the DVD and read the book which is excellent.

Based on a series of interviews Eve carried out on women from all walks of life, she decided to write about this in monologue form. No-one could ever do this better than her, it is not rude, funny or dirty in any way. Eve puts even the most awful things like rape and abuse in a very tasteful (if that is possible) and moving way.

Women will find themselves engrossed in this, there may be part of it relating to themselves, but the subject of the vagina relates to every woman. It is not all doom and gloom, there is much wit written in good taste. Smiling one minute, tearful the next, this book hits home! Not sure if it would have the same impact on men but I am sure it will give them a better understanding of women.

From this was formed V-Day, a movement to stop violence against women.

Sometimes a little shocking when you read/hear her monologues about what happens in the real world but Eve puts it in such a way that it makes you feel like you want to stand up and do something about it. Many people already have.
