Our flight from Sanford FL back to Grand Rapids, MI was cancelled on March 25 (Monday). When we arrived at the airport, we were given a 1 x 2 inch piece of paper with an 800 number on it & were told to call it to find out information about our cancelled flight!! We got on in Bellingham, WA travelling to Hawaii - seats had crumbs from prior flight, no leg room, no on flight entertainment - which is fine, not expected since it's a low budget airline, seats don't recline - which is fine because if they did the person behind you would be really cramped as there is no leg room, the seats themselves were smaller than a normal airline, so if you're a little bigger than say 140 pounds you would be uncomfortable, no on flight food - you have to pay for... The last week of January we flew from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to St. Pete, Florida. Our plane left on time as the same plane arrived on time from St. Pete. Mechanical issues are common with this airline. Had mechanical problems on each of the last 2 flights. Delays are common as well. Just hope you don't have either on your flight because there will be nobody to do anything about it. My flight was delayed from 8:30 pm to a 1:15 am departure which meant a 3:30 am arrival in Florida. I traveled Allegiant Air for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised that we left on time, and arrived on time. I had the same experience on my return flight. I traveled from Orlando/Sanford to Grand Rapids, Mi. The good thing was the price was very reasonable, and I didn't feel that the airlines went any cheaper on service than the major airlines. My wife and I justed returned from a roundtrip from Hawaii to Las Vegas. The flight leaving Hawaii was 3 hours late. I thought it was odd since the flight originated in Las Vegas. We sat on the plan for two hours prior to leaving Hawaii. One was a mechanical that I am sure they realized before we loaded the plane. The next hour was because of a clogged toilet. Nothing can describe this airline as the worst airline of all time. I would not recommend anyone to fly with them at all. Don't think that they are the cheapest and you are getting a deal, because in the end, they will get you. Luggage fees (each way cost you), no complimentary drink (if you just need water to take your medicine you better cough up 2 dollars), rude customer service, delay flights all the time. My husband and I, along with my parents and grandparents went to Las Vegas last weekend. The flight itself was ontime which was great, but we all were split up for seating. When I asked why I wasn't seated next to anyone I booked my tickets with the Allegient Agent replied because we didn't pay the extra fee to have an assigned seat. It's ridiculous! Just flew on Allegiant this past 2012 Memorial Day weekend. Good price and flight was on time. We didn't have access to a printer to print our boarding passes so we went to the counter at the Greenville-Spartenburg (GSP) counter to get them (as we didn't see a kiosk). We paid an additional $66 for preferred seating. When we got on the plane someone was in our seats. They said they had also paid for preferred seats in another location and someone was setting there. I called for a airline attendant and she said it was OPEN SEATING. Basically they let someone who did not pay additional money set in preferred seating and made them happy and let the 4 of us who PAID for preferred seating find our own seat (not together). I just flew Allegiant Airlines for the first time, and it was the WORST experience I've ever had flying. NEVER, EVER FLY ALLEGIANT! To begin with, the outbound flight was 3 hours late. My wife and daughter flew out of greenville to st pete this evening. I paid for priorty boarding and paid to reserve their seats. She was delayed in security because she had her bath stuff in a gallon bag and they said it had to be in a quart bag. LOL. We flew from Duluth to Mesa and returned March 30/12. On the return trip we were seated in the 1st seat left side of plane. There was no storage underneath and was curtly told by the stewardess I could not have my purse on the floor. I told her I was ashmatic and needed my medication close by. Flight was cancelled. No email or phone call despite having provided this information. No reciprical arrangements with other domestic carriers. Ground personnel wrote information on a baggage identification tag. Customer service is practically non-existent and seems, as a matter of course, to ignore questions and/or requests. Booked a flight from the "sale" they were running. Round trip LGB to LAS, $10 each way. For my wife and I, that should have been $40. After all the fees, it was $176.78! Air conditioning didn't work. We have flown Allegiant many times in the last 7 or 8 years. Great vaule for the $$$. The only gripe we had on the last flight was they changed their boarding policy. ?If you did not prepay to choose your seat you were assigned at check in. Now its all changed to open seating so you get whats left. A problem when you travel with three or 4. Funnt part was we took our small dog We were charged 200.00 total. This airline will kill you with baggage fees. And they will charge twice and then deny. I can prove I paid for my son's baggage online and then the gate agent had no record of it when he checked in and forced him to pay again. Our flight was supposed to leave at 6:05 pm on April 1st. We were then told it was delayed until 12:40 a.m., then 2:40 a.m., and now 4:15 a.m. Will never fly with Allegiant again! They provided no coffee and is freezing in the airport. Many people are upset and employees are not helpful. Tried to call customer service and cannot get through. We learned at check-in at 5:30 AM that our flight south that was scheduled to leave at 7 AM would be delayed. It left 3-1/2 hours late at 10:30 AM. Coming back north 3 weeks later we were told 40 minutes before the plane was scheduled to leave that there would be a delay. Our flight was delayed 3 hours and we weren't compensated in any way. They don't even give free water on the flight. We had to pay for every sip. $2 for a can of soda. And forget about any food. There was none and I'm sure that would have been very expensive. No entertainment, not even a magazine. Seats were raggedy. It was awful, awful, awful. We had to pay $85 for one suitcase. My family of 4 just returned from a vacation using Allegiant. We had a great experience. Flights were on time and no signs of staff looking to jam us up in any way. As I was booking on-line, I read everything so I knew I had to show up early (as with ALL airlines) and the baggage restrictions, fees, etc. Even so, Allegiant was the cheapest flight, by far. The staff was fine, the planes were fine and we loved the small airports!
It is a bit disheartening when you see the original price...

I booked with Allegiant Airline hoping to save money, I heard they have great rates. You certainly get what you pay for, both flights were over an hour late leaving, with the return flight a whopping 7 hours late. I find it amazing how people like to complain. Where else can you find a flight for 9.99? How can you complain that with all tax and fees it comes to a little over 50.00? Allegiant Air baggage service office is only open Monday to Friday excluding stats. Do not fly with them on weekends because if there is an issue with your luggage you will not hear back. Their 1-800 number does not even inform the user of this. Also very little representation at the airports. They are only at the airports during take off and landing. Very very poor service. I would never flyy with Allegiant again. I missed my flight from Vegas to bellingham. They made me pay $300 for the flight back at premium price. I thought it was unreasonable to pay $300 esp when I paid only $250 for my entire round trip. They knew I would pay and took advantage of it. Our flight was delayed and delayed. This can happen with any airline (although in conversation with other passengers Allegiant seems more prone to it) but Allegiant's customer service in dealing with these situations is deplorable. I have flown Allegiant a number of times from Nebraska to Las Vegas. The crew and the MD83 jets were always fine for a discount airline. the passengers however look more like they should be taking a greyhound bus instead of a passenger jet,
Allegiant has a very tricky website these days, and they nickel dime customers to death with add on fee's. When all is said and done, Allegiant will bleed you enough that you might consider a regular major carrier and pay about the same price.
