“One of the best”

Written on: 10/10/2012 by gmorganv (3 reviews written)

My father bought me a Blue Streak when I was in my early teens, about 1976. At the time, I had been borrowing his .22 LR firearm for hunting squirrels. Once I got my Blue Streak, I no longer wanted to use his rifle, because the Blue Streak was enough for squirrel hunting and target practice, and the ammo was cheaper. I shot many squirrels and pest birds with the old "yellow box" 5mm pellets that came with the gun and I re-ordered from Sheridan as needed. Later, when I was 18 and had my... (read more)

“Old Blue Streak”

Written on: 21/09/2011 by ky1946

Bought mine in early 60s, I have shot about 2000 rounds thru today. The first thing I did was remove the stock, one screw, and lightly sanded the entire stock. Stained with true oil, still looks great. I believe I have replaced the o-ring one time on the cocking mechanism. My home burned in 2011 and the gun was in the upstairs closet. I was able to retrieve the gun and had smoke damage on the back of the stock. The scope was damaged by peeling paint. I cocked the gun, pumped 3 pumps and shot... (read more)

I've had my blue streak since 1975. I LOVE THIS RIFLE. it's still the most accurate gun I have ever had. I don't get very excited about anything. but if you are looking for an air rifle. try a blue streak. you will not be disappointed. after 35 years I need it rebuilt. I wonder if you can buy anything today that will last that long. maybe I will buy a new one for my son. just to make sure it's still the same I may have to use it for a while (read more)

My Mom bought me this Sheridan air rifle in 1977. I have killed crows, squirrels, and even a ground hog with it over the years. I gave it to my younger brother in approximately 1995. He shot muskrats with it. I recently retired, and my brother gave it back to me in 2006. I have bench tested it for accuracy at 35 yards and the rifle still groups like new. These air rifles last a lifetime without any maintenance what so ever. By far the best air rifle ever made in the states. Just a drop of... (read more)

I inherited my fathers old CB9 a few years ago. It was purchased in 1966 and spent most of it's time in my Dad's closet. It had a can of Sheridan pellets with it(~50 left of 500), and that is probably the only usage this Sheridan has seen. I decided to put a Simmons Red Dot sight on it because my eyes are not capable of making the most of open sights anymore. I used a Crosman 4-Pc Intermount base with the Simmons, and had it sighted in at 30 yards in about 30 minutes. The sighting in only... (read more)

This gun was made when guns were real, not cheep like most of todays. It was my first Air Gun I have ever owned, and thru today still fired very strongly. Just had it completly re-built after 35 + years of on again and off again shooting, and I even still have the orignal pellets and container left over from the 1960's in the Sheridan name and the 5m/m cal. Has always been a very strong and accurate shooter. It started showing its age as we do, so I have had it completly re-built with all... (read more)

This rifle is the best all around air gun on the market today. I bought mine back in 1970, (serial number 8691H), when I got back form Nam to hunt small game. I have killed rabbits at 45 yards, (has to be a head shot or they might run off). Anything closer than that is pretty much a good kill. I have never had a problem with this gun, and have put thousands of pellets through it. I don't know what the new ones look or shoot like, but I wouldn't sell or trade this one for any other weapon (read more)

Written on: 22/12/2006 by rugerman (25 reviews written)

The only Sheridan I owned was a silver streak bought new in 1956. It was the "thumber" one. I shot it on my basement range, small game hunting and plinking. There was no plastic what-so-ever on this gun, a big plus with me. The pellets came in a metal can then. Now there are many more pellet types available. It had more than enough accuracy for my uses.
In the 1970's I sent the gun in for a rebuild. It was losing air. The forearm was splitting a bit. They sent the gun back with a new forearm... (read more)

I own the very same "Thumber" version. I have loved it since I was 16 (only 30 now) I am thinking of sending it in as well. How much did it cost for the work? It may be old but it is well made. The all metal construction is such a quality defining attribute. It has never been cleaned and it has probably only had 1,000 to 3,000 pellets thrugh it. I took a beating and still fires well. When I was younger I didn't know it was 5mm and I used to fire .177 thrugh it. I hope it did not damage it. I think I will test its accuracy before I send it in.

I have owned Sheridan air rifles and pistols since the early 1980s, only wish I had bought one years before. The first one owned, a Sheridan Blue Streak .20 caliber, was used so much it finally had a major separation of the barrel/receiver and the pump body, probably due to the over tightening of the scope mount. It has really outstanding wood however and will one day be refinished and transferred to another gun.

I can't speak for the new ones after Crosman took over the production but I recently got my 25 year old Sheridan Blue Streak .20 caliber out of storage, after not shooting it for 15 years, and it is still an amazing gun with great quality. I purchased my Sheridan in 1970 and it has served me faithfully through the years. Now, after a several year "lay off", I find the pump will deliver no "air pressure". I assume that the piston head seal has succummed to age and inactivity.

Bobs right. Tim at Mac1 does great things with bluestreaks. He has two of mine right now. If you had always stored your gun with 2-3 pumps in it it would probably never stopped working. Also a few drops of Crosman pellgun oil on the pump head could bring it back to life.

The Sheridan Blue Streak .20 caliber is an outstanding all around pellet rifle for pests ranging up to squirrels. Very flat shooting and likes most pellets. I find that Silver Arrows are most accurate and penetrate the best. This rifle is easily capable of 30 yd. kill shots on squirrels, but 10-20 is certain death if you do your end of the shot. Also once you learn to use a peep sight this rifle is deadly accurate. Painting the tip of the front sight with "white-out" will make the front... (read more)

Wow I bought a Sheridan Blue Streak in 1985 and just refound it again in the basement. Still works like new only thing is I cant find the original ammo anywhere supposed to be harder than the new stuff. Pure classic gun with plenty of power to spare, at eight pumps it gets to page 500 in the phone book at 30 yards. Enough to take a deer down at close range if you like. The classic value of old Sheridans is going up daily I've been offered $275 for it and passed! (read more)

I wouldn't shoot a deer from an airgun of this caliber. It's not responsible hunting, there's a very high chance the pellet would only wound the creature and make it suffer. For deer hunting it's better to get something more powerful.

I have two air guns, the Beeman GS950 .22 and this CB9. The power is close to the Beeman at 8 pumps and just as accurate. This is a small and light weight gun that packs a punch. I was able to put 1 pump and scare off my neighbor's cat, something I would never do with the Beeman. If I had one compliant it would be that the screw to raise and lower the rear sight is smack dab in the way, and looks like paralex error when aiming the rifle. (read more)

Sorry to correct, but "Parallax" does not feature on this rifle's sight. What parallax means is the illusion of magnification caused by concentric circles, or focus. I don't find that you either used this meaning or made it clear what you were referring to.

Sheridan Blue Streak .20 caliber - I have owned a silver streak (same gun, just not blued) for 25 years. The gun still shoots excellently. I have never mounted a scope due to the cost but in the hands of a skilled marksman the rifle will take anything from squirrels/rats with ease to 30 yards. I've owned a few of these over the last 15 years and all of them were accurate and powerful. They will be around for ages as they have a devoted following and are still in production after 50 years or so.
