Good Points: Pros -Terrific aesthetics -Sturdy -Good metal content -Upgrade-ability -Use of common parts/ commonly found amongst airsofters -Great accuracy and range with respectable hop-up

Bad Points: Cons -Maybe a bit pricey if bought from the wrong place -Foregrip feels slightly plasticity

General comments: Here is a short review on the Tokyo Marui M4a1 - New Version, to help newcomers or anyone in purchasing an AEG, hope it helps! In this I will be placing random pictures which probably have no relevance to the text! History - I don't think you really know a history, you've probably heard it before. First Impressions - Wow! I think DEN have sent me the wrong type of gun! It looks too real! Other M4's that I have come across looked grey and plasticity, but this thing utterly looked the real deal, it looks metal from every angle, I bought this along with a GP 1100mah small battery and a Winstar fast charger and one spare high cap for about 400 dollars including shipping to the UK, a very good deal! I took a photo before lifting the gun out of the box to show someone who has not seen before exactly how it looks before opened. Then I decided to lift the gun out of the well packed box. Wow again! The upper and lower receiver are plastic and the carry grip, stock, sites, outer barrel and trigger I believe are all metal, but does it matter? Not in my opinion, this feels like a solid lump of mass that is of perfect weight and feels real in your hands. The metal on the gun feels cold to the touch and it gives a very nice feel to the user. To give someone who hasn't held one before (like I hadn't) an idea, I row 5 times a week, so I am fairly in good shape and I personally would not like a heavier gun than this monster, but I don't think a lighter gun, either, the Spetznas that I have previously airsoft which seemed like child's play compared to the new Tokyo Marui M4a1. General comments on Feel - I can say that the gun has no body flex to speak of at all and no barrel wobble due I think, to the new 1 piece barrel construction found in the New version of the M4a1 from Marui. Everything including the stock is sturdy, I can feel that I can throw it around corners and something won't fly off or break, which is what you need in a firefight. The new LE stock provides 6 positions but I mostly keep mine at full length to keep the same eye relief, when the rifle is shouldered you definitely feel that your holding a strong piece of equipment. Function/Magazines - My gun came with a Nimh battery with a little juice in but that was quickly ran down with 100 shots, but a word of warning the Nimh batteries do not give warning before they run out of power, they are strong until about the last 15 shots where they die. Some people may find this an advantage, some not, I personally do find it to be useful as you get more shots at a higher ROF from the battery in one charge. So after I ran in out I stuck it on the charge and in the 20 mins it took to charge, I loaded my standed and high cap mags and fondled with the gun for a good 15 mins! When the battery was charged I let loose on full auto and the rate of fire literaly put a smile on my face, it's like a bb hose, one shot after another at really high ROF speeds. The gearbox has a nice sound to it, I wouldn't say it was quiet but the function to fire is making a piston slam up and down, what can you expect. But when you are 30 yards away, you've got to listen carefully to hear it. The TM mags that I purchased with it work absolutely flawlessly, my standed leaving 2 bb's most times and my high-cap 5. I have not had feeding problems and I don't think It has misfired once! To change the hop-up pull back on the T charging handle located under the rear sites to open the dust flap and revealing the hop up system. Now either turn the biggest gear/cog either CW or CCW (obviously) to increase or decrease the amount of backspin applied the bb, affecting its path. The selector switch clicks around in 90 degrees and gives a positive tick when looked either in safe, semi or auto positions. Shooting - The only thing I have to compare this too at the moment is another brand new M4 that my friend and I purchased together to save on shipping costs. I would say range to be a good 40 yards before the bb's start dipping. From 30 yards I can hit a 5" post about 8/10 times, probably my aiming, if the gun was perfectly aimed I reckon it could hit 10/10 times. But at 40-50 yards it is quite easy to hit a man-sized target with a few shots. The gun shoots through 1 side of a soda can and gets nearly through the other side with one shot (the poor man's chrono). So the gun is shooting around 280-290 fps I believe. Modifications - As of now I have no mods on my gun and it is completely stock, but in the near future I am planning to get a tight-bore barrel to improve accuracy and fps by about 20fps. There are endless upgrades and mods for the m4/m16 series and it is the most readily upgradable gun I believe, so if you want a project gun,, look no further. Red dots, scopes, slings, lasers, toches, battery options, stocks, grips, RIS kits, the list is endless. Roundup - I would recommend on my experience this gun to any new comer looking for a reliable solid assault rifle looking to play woodland and urban game types as the barrel of 363mm is very respectable and is very capable. Whether you're experienced or not, this is a great choice for upgrading and modding. I give this gun a 9/10 overall. The only bad point is that the battery space is limited and a bigger battery is hard to fit in.
