Good Points: Accurate, durable, REAL WOOD STOCK, bolt action.

    Bad Points: heavy trigger

General comments: When i owned this Benjamin Sheridan model 397 i took for granted the fact that i could hit targets out to 50 or more yards. now that i sold mine a few months back, i want it back. it was very powerful, and extremely accurate! it would punch a crosman HP pellet all the way through a prey at 30 yards, the gun was so accurate. I never shot it at paper, but i can tell you it would shoot well under 1 MOA groups, and would probably kill some prey at 100 yards with good pellets and 8 or 9 pumps.

It gets a little hard to pump after 3 pumps. It is awsome with a crosman peep site. All wood and metal. This rifle is extremely accurate and powerful. This is my first pellet gun,and after shooting all firearms I was impressed by Its power. There is nothing bad about the Benjamin Sheridan 397

Maybe i'm remembering things different as a kid, but i swear that these things were better built 30 years ago. I know that crossman claims that they have the same strict standards, but i just received my rifle and i am a little disappointed. It's not what i remembered and i don't think that it is well built. The bolt action is not fluid and the black paint on the barrel is poor. I just sold my gamo viper and that rifle was very well constructed. It was too powerful, a little loud for a suburba ...

My Sheridan is very accurate and powerful. I use it for target shooting and field pests. With just two pumps it quickly dispatches small to medium rodents quietly. Finish is very good and the factory sights are quite good for general use
I have always wanted one since I shot a friends 20 cal. when I was a kid. This is an excellent air rifle to have in the closet. It's not like a lot of the toy type rifles on the market. This is a great accurate shooter that will last a long time! Mine is ...

I received my Benji about a week ago and have shot every day since. I love it! Its a fun little gun. Looks good, shots hard and on target. I ordered it with the Williams peep sight and after some adjustment it is right on.
So I will have to give it 2 thumbs up. Only wish I had bought it years ago!

Overall the gun is very good. I had ordered the scope mounts for it, and i just cant use them it put's the scope way to high, and to far forward. i am not going to put a pistol scope on a rifle, so i wont even go there. the gun is very beautiful. I actually stripped down the factory finish, and refinished the stock with natural velvet oil. (WoW) I would recomend that you get the peep sight for this gun. believe me thats all you need. i recomend that you use the benjamin domed pellets, as honestl ...

The Benjamin Sheridan 397 is a great little gun. Its light and small, accurate and very powerful. The only bad point i found was that I had to pump it up every time

First time buyer.. Ordered the 397, it arrived with a severly bent front sight blade. Return department required me to pay the $12.00 return shipping in order that they would replace it. They sent me the damaged gun and I really feel that Cobra should have picked up the return tab.. I did not order a 397 with a bent sight but that is what I had to deal with. I an not at all satisfied with the Cobra. I guess a lesson learned.. buy somewhere else next time.

Love this thing. I grew up with a old daisy. when it finally broke(i got frustrated at the fact that it was always braking, and the accurately sucked so instead of hitting the can i clubed it...with my old crapy daisy.) so i looked for a used air gun. and i found a old used beny .117 i bought it used with a scope for $90 the gun is really strong, powerfully, and accurate. i've shot 1500 pellets through this gun, when i bought it. it already had some wear and scrapes but it shoots straight. if i' ...

I had the .177 800fps when I was a kid, back then it was silver.I hit almost everything I aimed at.I had this gun when I was about 12,and shot anything and everything down the barrel, left it outside, shot 20 bbs at once, and this gun never lost power or fell apart, and I was hard on it,I want another one.the long range accuracy is great.

Just bought this gun a yesterday - almost as fun to shoot as the sheridan silver streak of my youth in late 60's. I set up target 60 ft. away for sight-in and fired five shots; big smile on my face when I saw four holes touching each other (less than 1/2 inch diameter!) and one flyer 1 inch to the right. My next 5 shot group was the size of a nickel - this is 60 feet with a gun just out of the box. For under $150 this is outstanding performance; a spring cocker of this quality would be nearly t ...

The ONLY pellet which works in this rifle is the Crosman Wadcutter - by "works" i mean to say that this is the only pellet which will produce predictable groupings at distances over 40 feet - trust me ....

I had a plastic stock Daisy something or other when I was growing up and I got good enough that someone should have made a movie about me, but I always wanted a Benjamin. There was always something tried and true cool about them. Now that I am a big boy I finally decided to pony up and get one. The only way I could be happier with it is if the rear sight adjustment screw was actually made out of some kind of real metal and if the gun came with a hot topless blond. I guess the hot blond could arr ...

I bought two of these Benjamin Sheridan model 397 guns, one for my twin brother and one for me. They arrived yesterday and we weren't disappointed. We had been looking for the best air rifles we could find for about a month and finally decided on this rifle. Though I was at work when they arrived, my brother took his out and tested it. After two shots it jammed but that was more user mistake than the gun. It was easy to fix anyways. The gun is very durable, a little heavy, but I'm sure I'l ...

Benjamin Sheridan model 397 - It is a reliable gun that has stood the test of time and it has plenty of power to go around. Whether your hunting small game, or just plinking in the back yard this gun fits the job.

The Benjamin Sheridan model 397 is a great gun it's accurate, solid. It's made out of all metel parts nice clasic feel. Real gun cock. It's a little heavy but that's because the real wood and metal parts.
I haven't tested the accuracy but the times that I've shot it feels dead on. I think it's within less then a inch from 10 yards and I'm really shaky.
    Get a good scope.
