One word - Perfecto!!! Service 10/10 - they cant do enough for you. very friendly, well worth the £10 tip Wine 10/10 - perfect recommendation for our meal & waiter did'nt recommend the most expensive bottle either (been stung elsewhere on that one) Atmosphere - romantic but inquisitive when everyone's food arrives. Amazing foood! lovely staff...
The food is cooked to perfection and brought to you in amazing ways.
The decoration is fantastic in the restaurant.. and the staff will recommend what they think is the best to eat that day/night.
The only tiny let down is the seat covers... althought they look fab, you cant move for feet to freely... which its a massive problem but it did pop into my mind when I was leaning.
I have to be honest this is my fav place to eat in newport by far!

I was extremely impressed with the presentation, as not many restaurants give this much attention to detail. Staff were very friendly, and atmosphere was divine. We booked our table for 9pm but were told to pre-order to avoid eating really late. We ordered 2 days before a requested. When we got there, the table was ready but the starters took an hour to come. Then the second we finished our starters the main came. GORGEOUS food and AMAZING presentation and friendly staff. Just disappointed a little with service speed. Would still 100% go again! Have also recommended to my parents as a venue for their golden wedding anniversary next May. Thats how impressed I was after one visit!! The food was delicious and the desserts to die for. All i can say is my experience of dining at Gemelli's Newport was "absolutely outstanding". Beautiful decor with attention to detail evident. The meals were exquisitely presented and were cooked to perfection. The staff were attentive and very friendly. I have been to Gemelli's, Newport, several times over the years and each time is as good as the last. Despite limited space, the friendly staff and exceptional food definitely compensate. I can honestly say I have NEVER been dissapointed! The food is absolutely devine!

At Gemelli's the table presentation is beautiful, the cutlery is in fab little wooden cases. The menu is quite large. The savoury food is good but not exceptional. The desserts are fantastic! Friendly, welcoming staff. The food at Gemelli's was interesting and of good quality and beautifully presented, especially the desserts. Although from the outside it looks like a corner cafe, inside the atmosphere is intimate and I like the 'outdated' decor (statues, candelabras, tablecloths, food brought to the table covered by a dome etc.).
It was possible to have a normal conversation because there wasn't loud music.

We've not actually eaten at Gemelli's, but have tasted their cakes at other functions - if you're looking for a wedding cake, this is the place to talk to. They will also do smaller cakes for birthdays etc, which taste just as good and look stunning. We had our wedding cake from Gemelli's and can't recommend them enough. (read more)

I thought the food was just disappointing, I asked if the mussels and seafood on the menu is fresh and was told they were not, which is a shame because I'd expect that from this class of restaurant. The steak when it arrived was smothered in sauce to the extent that I could have been eating ostrich and not known, the saute potatoes were saturated in fat and apparently reheated, seem to cut too many corners and is stuck in the 80's rather than in Italy.
Overall a disappointment as I think...

I found this review very helpful because it is exactly what I want to say and hope that other people will feel the same as me. I was in Gemelli's last week with my sister and her daughter who is getting married and wanted to sample the cakes. We had a toasted snack followed by a variety of wonderful cakes. Decor and atmosphere was really special. After the meal Sergio came to our table to discuss what cakes we were interested in for the wedding and couldn't have been more helpful. Not many people have good things to say about Newport but this is a treasure that needs to be fully supported. Scrumptious!!!
