Oh yes, the inevitable anuanl spring cleaning. I actually look forward to it. But I do use cleaning to procrastinate other things that I should be doing, like my dissertation. Maybe my husband would like to tackle spring cleaning this year by himself?! LOL. Thanks for stopping by; following you back. (read more)

My second one and has failed on both occasions with the same problem! I thought the first failure was my fault but now realise after VERY careful use and following all the instructions this was not the case. Even though it should shred up to 6 sheets of standard thickness A4 paper it really struggles! Even doing one piece of paper at a time it gets badly clogged-up. Using the reverse function puts a huge strain on the motor and then going into normal mode again it just seizes! Try a credit... (read more)

Pure rubbish.
Looks great and is very heavy but inside are tiny little plastic strips which are easily broken as the paper goes through and especially if there is one staple in the paper.
Sorry Fellowes,I will not be buying any of your shredders ever again!!

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHREDDER!!!
As others have said:
*it won't take more than 2 or 3 sheets of paper at a time despite its claim to be able to manage 6 sheets.
*constantly jams meaning time is having to be spent picking out paper between the rotary cutters
*the lid is very heavy to take off when emptying the bin
*plastic cog has now broken meaning it will have to be thrown away
This is my second Fellowes shredder and thought it was my own mis-use of the first one that was the...

And I thought it was just my carelessness that had broken two of them! I had exactly the same problems as others I really recognised the comments about the cracking plastic noises! Does anyone know of a reliable brand?
If these are supposed to be the world toughest, it doesn't seem worth bothering with one at all.

Although it has plouged on for probably 3 yaers the performance has been poor. Slow with anything other than 1 sheet of 80g and clogged up a lot. Now something has sheared and although the motor works the shredder does not engage. A bit of a relief really beacuse I will now get arounbd to buying what I hope is a proper replacement (read more)

Had my P-45C for a year or so now. Bin size is too small and needs regularly emptying. Struggles to shred more than 2 sheets at a time and anything thicker than paper is a long drawn out affair. Shredding blades clog regularly and need clearing. This is a terrible piece of kit. Had two Fellowes shedders now and won't be buying another one. (read more)

Absolutely dreadful shredder. Weak motor, hardly takes one or two sheets at a time, not 6, constantly jams, eventually one of the plastic cogs inside has broken, after the housing sheared off and it filled its sealed electrical area with shredder paper. Yes, it feels solid, but its total rubbish. (read more)

The Fellowes P45C is extremely poor quality. Says it shreds 6 pieces of paper at a time - it struggles with two pieces. It was bought for domestic use and I'm extremely disappointed in this shredder, clogs up after every couple of shreds and refuses to do anything. A waste of time and money, using scissors would probably be quicker than this bulky, heavy piece of junk. (read more)

Had my Fellowes P45C for just over 3yrs but used very little about 3 months constant use over 3yr period (it really was hardly used for domestic use) broke when fed 4 sheets of A4 paper. The thing is out of warranty now having to replace. Considering how little it was used its very disappointing. Only get it if it is given to you for free otherwise invest in a pair of scissors. I've had mine for nearly 2 years of occasional use, cannot add more than 2 pieces of paper at a time and usually clogs up after about 15 pages. A gear has now broken and left it unusable, no spares are available from Fellowes.
I wouldn't recommend it

Slow, cannot seem to to shred more than 1 piece of paper at a time. Constantly jams and broke after a few weeks of use. Now gone through my 3rd one of these plus 1 of the P55 which is no better in my opinion. (read more)

I bought this to use in a small home office. It only (just) shreds one sheet at a time and struggles with envelopes. When it jams it can take ages to unblock. It finally broke on me today despite constant oiling, when the plastic teeth above the cogs shattered and jammed inside it. Its going straight in the bin! I've only used it 3 or 4 times! (read more)

Would not recommend this shredder. I'm surprised that anyone would market such a poor unit. It appears to tear the paper rather than shred it.
This shredder was used lightly in our home, not an office.

My Fellowes P45C doesn't shred more than one piece of paper at a time.
Continually jamming.
Makes makes snapping plastic sound when run in reverse to clear
Difficult to clear. Stay away from this thing at any price. Not worth it, you will end up throwing it away.

We are on our third one of these at work. Two of these started to run very slowly and noisily. The first one I threw out and replaced it with an identical one which has now gone the same way. At first I assumed that I was unlucky or had overworked the first one (I've never put more than 4 sheets through at once), but now I must conclude that it is not suitable for the 4 or 5 sheets I put through it on an average day. We do have one of these machines that is performing as expected though, but... (read more)

I have now had two of these. The first was replaced by the manufacturer as it started to make very loud cracking sounds and just stopped working despite constant cleaning. The second one has gone the same way. Claims to shred up to six sheets at a time - no way, getting one through without it stopping was rare. Now looking for a new reliable shredder. (read more)

I agree, have returned the first one to the supplier as it jams after 3-4 single sheets. The replacement unit is just as bad.
