STI phone cards are a ripoff. They know that the people using them have no recourse; i.e., if people are having to use a phone card, they are very unlikely to be able to obtain legal help for a refund, etc.

The phone cards advertise a decent amount of time for the money, 5 cents per minute. A better look shows that it is 5 cents/min state to state, but in state can go up to 50 cents a minute depending on your state. That's fine too. But the kicker is trying to use the card from a pay phone. If you do, they will charge you a over a dollar's worth of your card time to place a call from a pay phone. So, where are people most likely to use their cards they just bought? A pay phone. You don't find this out until you have already bought your card and try to use it. Most people buying phone cards don't have regular phones to use them from - that's the whole point of purchasing a card.

So, with their five dollar phone card, given the average number of calls one would try to make, and with the 1.29 charge to a pay phone call, one would be lucky to be able to make three short calls from their card. Four calls will eat up an entire five dollar card. That comes out to over a dollar a minute, as opposed to the 5 cents a minute advertised. This card is nothing but a scam, and one directed at the poor.

I bought some phone cards from a reseller that sells STi. The pins didn't work. I asked the reseller to give me a refund, and it directed me to STi customer service. One of the worst I have ever experienced. I called them more than 10 times and they didn't help me. Asked to give me a refund and they didn't. I again asked them to give me a different pins and they refused. They told me to get a new phone and make the call. Thats ridiculous. They didn't help me. If I have to make a call, I need to ...

Did not like this product. Will report to some consumer protection agency. We spend hundreds of hard earned dollars on these cards, and we get very poor service. Would not purchase again.

I do not recommend STi Prepaid Phone Cards. I think poor connection is overshadowed by even worse customer service. I bought $10 worth of time and seemed to end up with $6 after several unsuccesful attempts to reach my destination. After I called customer service they informed me that they can not yet refund any money. In addition to 3 month expiration they charge $.69 per week after you activated card, so even if you do not use it, you are losing money. This card us useless and I would never recommend it to anybody.

The STi Prepaid Phone card I got worked only once and not since. Calls to customer service get you nowhere. they tell you they will report the problem and it will be fixed in 2 hours. But it doesn't happen.

False advertisement for the amount of minutes you're supposed to be getting during your call. Called the terrible customer service and asked for an explanation of hidden fees, but representative wasn't able to provide me with a straight answer...I was terribly disappointed about everything in this calling card. I will never ever recommend this card....

I ended up using the service for about a year, because I didn't really look for an alternative, but I have to admit, I was quite frustrated and angry for the entire year.

First, I bought a phone from them, and the phone was sad, sad, sad. Granted, it was a $20 phone, but the battery ran out in 25 minutes of talking, and eventually broke - this gave a reason to look for another service, and I am NOT returning to STI.

I lost my money with STi Prepaid Phone Cards and they tell you no refund, after they charge your credit card. The card does not work and maintenance fees started to eat my account and all you hear is sorry. Finally the card worked and I got one-third the minutes I purchased. When called, the response was "well, there are some surcharges" and when I asked where are these surcharges explained, the representative could not show them to me.
