“Service so far ahead of the rest”

Written on: 22/05/2013 by wendelcricks (1 review written)

This is not the first time domain monster has helped me with a problem managing my domain names. The end result is that ALL of my domain names are now registered with them. Every member of staff I have dealt with has always been competent and knowledgeable. On this occasion, three different staff members picked up emails and skilfully kept the momentum going, but it was a lovely gentleman who finally guided my problem to resolution. Not the cheapest for .com names, it has to be said. But... (read more)

Despite all my efforts I couldn't get my new iPhone to synch with my domain emails. I was at the point of taking the phone back to the shop when I rang Chris at Domain Monster. He talked me through the settings on my MacBoook and iPhone. He was patient, courteous and very professional. It now all works like a dream! I've been with Domain Monster for years and would never consider moving, simply because their customer service is absolutely second to none. Today I wrote in asking how to complete web forwarding, and I received a reply from them within 15 minutes asking me for some information. I wrote back to explain that I didn't know how or where to find the information he had requested. I think it's fair to say that a lot of these type of sites usually don't have great customer service at the best of times, but Domain Monster are simply brilliant. They replied to all of my emails within around 10-15 minutes which is brilliant and not only this but they also called me to let me know what was going on. Would definitely recommended them. I've run into many issues editing my website by myself. This is simply because I am not very technologically savvy. The website builder itself is wonderful, but I definitely had some issues... Thankfully, Domain Monster's fantastic over-the-phone tech support employee helped me every single step of the way. I must have had at least 5 very time-consuming tasks that I brought over the phone to him over the course of one afternoon. I think our total time spent on the phone fixing my website's... I have worked for companies with huge domain portfolios and have interacted with a large number of domain registrars and for domain management, Domain Monster is my favourite. After being in the domaining business for over a decade I was unlucky enough to finally purchase a few domains from an eBay user that had unfortunately registered them with Domain Monster. Domainmonster will let you sign up and pay for domains then they hit you with a sudden account lockout (preventing transfer out) and 48h ultimatum, whereby you have to scan and send your passport and driver's licence. If you refuse, they keep the domain(s) and your money. No refund, no recourse. Avoid them, go elsewhere. (read more)

“Terrible customer service, lockdowns”

Written on: 10/04/2012

I have never had a domain registrar ask me to send them a copy of my driver's license and utility bills. When I refused, they claimed they can't give me a refund "since my account is locked down". Domain monster are fine unless you have a problem at the weekend. I have had recurrent problems with my email account (which is paid for not free). Sounds like our fraud team essentially "stopped" your account whilst we identified you. Its not un-reasonable of them to ask for identification to ensure your account is genuine and protect the integrity and security of all our customers. Once identification is provided they will release the account.

We happily refund to card where the terms agree to do so! Under certain circumstances (EG: During the .me launch that you refer too - I dealt with you today, we are unable to do so due to the restrictions of such a launch). When this is the case we put it in a bright red box with a yellow background, as per http://mytiny.net/19/ and ask you to tick it twice before you can transact with us! We don't make you read five pages of Terms, we pass on our liability to the Registry as fairly and openly as we can. If we could offer a refund to card we would. In terms of pre-order success rates, I would say 9/10 with all launches in 2008 and Top 3 for each, such as this example, http://tinyurl.com/82sepr, is a top performer. Hopefully a fair balanced view to negative comments.

Did you have an account lockout? We did - they stole several of our domain trying to extort our personal financial information!

Domainmonster.com steals money and domains, holding domain properties hostage until providing them with personal financial information: driver's licence, passport, banque and credit card statements. We have seen numerous complaints - same modus operandi.

If they were a "legitimate" domain registrar, they would request identifying information PRIOR to the transaction so customers could have a choice of doing business with them.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY!

Otherwise, you could lose your domains and money.

If you have been victimised, please contact law enforcement and lodge a complaint.

I really can't fault Domain Monster at all. I moved to them after using and maintaining varying types of top level domain names across 3 different registrars - Enom (US), Joker (Germany) and UKReg (for Nominet UK domain names).
