“Poor, Poor Customer Service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mikeheros on 02/04/2024

I've had my ASDA Money Credit Card for a few weeks and used it about 8 times without any problems. Last Friday the card was "DECLINED" when I attempted to pay in an ASDA store. Ive have attempted to phone ASDA Customer Services  several times. You are automatically taken through security (choose from a menu, enter card number, date of birth, 3-digit security number). Then you are told that you are being transferred to a Customer Services' Person, and the phone gets cut off. It happens every time. I then resorted to the CHAT line using the ASDA mobile app. I was told not to leave the page and an advisor would be chatting with me soon. 28 minutes later an advisor did look into my problem. My account was being reviewed by a specialist team. The advisor suggested that I wait 48 hours and then try using the card again. If not successful then get back in contact and we can escalate to our specialist team. This is not the way to run a Credit Card service, and the Customer Service is atrocious.

“Account under review”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 306Gomez on 15/02/2023

Had my card about a month with £4500 credit limit. Been using it a few weeks and wanted to make a large purchase, still keeping under my credit limit the transaction was declined. I contacted them, they said my account was under review and I couldn't use the card for aprox 48 hours to 30days!...They said it was in line with their terms and conditions. Had to use a different card and miss out on the Asda rewards.

“Confidentiality v Ridiculousness”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bridgera1950 on 16/04/2020

I had been a long time customer of Asda Credit Card. I had always paid on time and kept within my credit limit. As I did not owe them any money I decided to transfer £600 from a store card on 0% APR for 12 months. 72 hours later I received an email ( not even a phone call) telling me that my request had been declined. Now my credit rating is excellent so I knew something was wrong. I asked them for an explanation but they claimed that they could not tell me for operational reasons. I replied back asking them to close my account. The same person asked me to provide a reason. My reason was due to operational considerations, of course. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Shame on you ASDA for partnering with these losers.

“Claiming Cashback”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SheilaPs on 12/02/2018

Although it is called “cashback” it is really a voucher scheme. The vouchers can only be used in store, so if you can only grocery shop on line because you don’t live near a store then the vouchers are useless. Also you need a printer to print the vouchers or a smartphone. Customers who have neither also cannot use the vouchers. I am now using a different credit card, as I am unable to use the cashback I have already accumulated.

“Terrible service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jethLoyalCustomer on 09/10/2017

I've had this card for a while now and the offers and charges have been increasing at a shocking rate. I'm surprised Asda has associated itself with this card company that overcharges and exploits loyal customers. Go elsewhere otherwise you'll regret it!

“Not what they say”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Stephenj486 on 25/09/2017

I was looking for a loyalty credit card, I found ASDA were offer £20 for taking the card (minimum 1st spend £60) so I went through their offer link, completed the pre acceptance and was accepted, I proceeded with the application, received and used my card. I fulfilled the criteria for the £20 but after 2 months I hadn't received it, so contacted them, only to be told I didn't qualify. I had followed their intructions spending over £60 on my first shop, I made payments on time. I am in the processes of cancelling my card and I am now using their competitors card who also quadruple points saved to use elsewhere, better choice all round.

“Awful”

Comfortably the worst credit card I have had. Dreadful to non-existent customer service and horrendous hidden charges. Don't do it.

“Confusing! Passed eligibility check, still declined”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rnKeller396 on 30/08/2017

On asda money website, it says the credict application decision is made. But my application is declined at the end. There should be any notes to the customer that the application result is not guranteed.

“Useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Drakebw1959 on 26/08/2017

Got an Asda credit card to get some cash back as do food shopping at Asda. Unfortunately if you try and use it to buy anything it often gets blocked.Today tried to make a purchase on John Lewis website and got blocked. They made no attempt to contact me to check it was a valid purchase and it took me 25 mins on the phone to Asda to get the block taken off my card. The call centre man asked me the same security questions over and over and even wanted to speak to someone else in the house over 18. No idea why as my husband was out. He was fixated on the postcode of my previous house that I lived in briefly 12 years aho. I have a good credit score and work as a teacher so I'd hate to know how they treat people without a regular income. I will be cancelling this card.

“Asda credit card”

★☆☆☆☆

written by FernandaFitch on 13/08/2017

Shop at Asda regularly so any cashback well received. All going reasonably well apart from waiting too long for either debits or credits to appear. Have applied manfully for my credit limit to increase from 1960 to 2000. No joy . My wife got 5000 limit with less income than I enjoy. Both of us good track records for credit no missed oayments etc. Had occasion to query payment in my account that I had not authorised traced refund back to Asda who were sitting on the payment because refiunders had returned it to my original card number. This card was cancelled to stop payments being debited and I was informed that any refunds would be debited to mynew account. When it was realised that the money was refunded the gentleman at Asda said that if the refund department had NOTHING TO DO they WOULD manually credit the money to my account in the next FIVE days. Your choice as to whether you use this outfit.

“Worst Card Ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 112Diaz on 27/07/2017

Got the credit card - all good, happy about the cash back too. Paid 3% fee on balance transfer - but the real kick comes 6months down the line - when they start charging you ridiculous interest rate for the balance transfer. Also if you do anymore balance transfer - you are screwed. Its the worst card ever - eg - if you did a balance transfer of 100 pounds and you had bought things worth 100 pounds from ASDA - they will charge you interest on 200 pounds and say its for balance transfer of 200 pounds - see how much interest they will now charge?? poo card

“Poor company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Paulhall57 on 25/07/2017

I applied and was accepted for this card, the offer was that if I spent £60 in one transaction at Asda during May they would credit my account with a £20 Asda voucher. I did this but didn't receive my voucher, I made 3 calls to request it and was told they would get back to me, they didn't. I also emailed a complaint on three separate occasions and again heard nothing. Finally in made a official complaint, they tried calling me once at home and as I wasn't home they were asked to call back but they didn't. To sum up they are a poor company with appalling customer service. Don't use them they are unreliable.

“Applied and Accepted over 6 weeks ago and still no card”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Melanies455 on 25/07/2017

I wish I'd read these reviews before applying for this card. Complete waste of my time and now I'll have to wait a few months to apply elsewhere because of the credit search against my name. Six weeks ago I applied for the Asda credit card, sent me out a paper form credit agreement to sign which I did on the day it arrived and then sent it back as was required. Telephoned the customer service number and kept getting told it was being sent out. Week after week went by until I finally gave up and called them last week and told them to shove the card. I don't need it, but wanted to do a balance transfer from a vanquis card. Taking the mick 6 weeks to process. This is supposed to be Asda The big company that you'd expect to be on top of its game. I've sent an email to complain 4 or 5 days ago and not even had a reply so that in itself tells me I had a very lucky escape. Next time I will definitely Google the credit card reviews before I apply for it. Worst experience from any card issuer ever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

“No response”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sawyer134 on 14/07/2017

I applied for an ASDA credit card 5 weeks ago and heard nothing. I telephoned after 4 weeks, no help and no further response. I telephoned again after 5 weeks and was told there was a backlog and there was nothing else they could do. This is a very poor service and I would not recommend it.

“Third class”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Norahu64 on 02/07/2017

Have been a loyal customer for years using Asda Credit card. Never missed a single payment. Now received letter saying under clause 14 my card will be shut down. I called them today for a full explanation and they said they are unable to comment. How can you shut down a card without explaining why? Spoke with a rude person who kept avoiding my questions and said the decision is irreversible. Wouldn't elaborate any further. Absolutely shocking treatment when not one payment has ever been missed! Avoid this company as they are deceptive, dishonest and have disgusting customer service.

“Very Poor Customer Service”

written by on 25/04/2017

Applied online around mid March for Asda cash back credit card.It took them woeful long time to contact me.To be honest they tried there best not to contact me but I wrote a review on review centre regarding my issue then they decided to contact me.Since then various people keep sanding me emails I tried my best to accommodate their requirements but some reason I'm still awaiting to hear from them. I've already sent my bank statement with address, passport copy and my mobile phone bill. What else do they want? Please don't say that you have not received them.Last time you said you send me an email regarding contacting me when I challenge you to send me the email again so that I can check date and time since then all this different gentle man pretending to assist me.I'm not going to call over the phone and wasting my money.Other credit card provider are not like you in terms of dealing with customers and provide card to their customers.Such as Mbna.Asda is near my house and I shop at Asda that's the only reason I applied for a card Otherwise I would not Applied (seen reviews) for the card.People like you giviing Asda a bad name and very woeful customers service.

“A total disaster since their recent IT system update”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stradbally on 13/04/2017

for the first 11 months everything worked reasonably well, then it all went pear shaped since their recent IT system update. Since then, over the last couple of weeks, their system has refused to recognise my user name & password on numerous occasions. This has resulted in numerous phone calls to their totally ineffective customer "service" dept. Each time I was instructed to change my password / user name-- which I have now done 5 times, and each time this results in me getting into my account JUST ONCE----and then their system defaults back into not recognising me again. It is quite clear to me that the customer service staff are unable to cope with this problem, and the IT system recently "upgraded" is no longer fit for purpose. I cannot see an end to this issue, so I am afraid that after my next statement has been paid, I will be looking for a more reliable provider, and then I will send a full report to the Asda CEO so that he will know how poorly Creation Financial services is administering credit card services in the Name of Asda Money.

“DON'T CARE ATTTITUDE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BDESJ on 25/03/2017

I filled out a Asda credit card form and I was under impression that Asda will contact me .After a long while I received an email from Asda saying thanks for contacting us.That's it.No more communication. By the way the email was sent to me was no reply email address and to make contact with Asda over the phone will incur me change and time. Could they not simply drop me an email to confirm me about my application is rejected or not? Why Asda taking so long ? or they don't contact at all.

“Worse card ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Serrano401 on 11/01/2017

Ok, have had a 5k credit limit for 6 months, I spend a lot, but have 7k net a month and no other debts. Asda refused to increase limit. Walking away with my feet. Don't go near them, really unhelpful. Also they don't use swift payments for account paying (so you have to pay earlier) and no apple pay.

“Not fit for purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Carter1962 on 09/11/2016

Had one before by Santander but asda stopped it so was delighted when they started again. First time I used it got a fine for going over the £600 monthly limit. As it is for shopping and fuel and other shopping just what century are they in. When I contacted them they said that was my credit limit. I informed that I had had a previous card for many years but they just said that's what it is. I cut it up. They obviously do t want the cash!
