Only the best is good enough hear. The best Chinese food I have ever tasted across a wide and diverse selection.
Well worth going out of your way for.
Book the upstairs restaurant though, as the downstairs is a little impersonal and noisy!

I have visited China and Hong Kong many times, have eaten numerous Chinese meals in London and live in Chinatown in Manchester and I can honestly say this is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Stefan the manager is super friendly, his staff are excellent and yes, sometimes you do wait for your food and drinks but when they come they are always excellent. service was really bad, when i called to make the reservation they told me to call back which i found rather rude! then when i did make the booking they seemed to busy to even hear my requirments of a table by the window, when i did finally go fo rthe meal the service was awful but the food was delious so well done to the chefs but the service needs a good look at as it took me 20 minutes to even get a drink! my food came 1.30 hours later....REALLY BAD WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Staff were helpful and polite, and catered to our every need - The food is fairly expensive but worth every penny, particularly liked the seabass and the thai chicken. nikki ips is fantastic, reading throught the reviews was shocked to see some negative ones, but guess you cant please everyone. nikki ips offers fine chinese food but dont expect a take away style menu, or take away food. as it is not and does not do take away. it offers something very differant. a well educated pallet will think it has gone to heaven. all i can say is give it a try its something very special. We were astonished to read some of the reviews about Nikki Ip's, I think someone has a grudge thing going here!
As a treat we visit Nikki's several times a year,(we live about 20 miles away) last night four of us shared 3 starters, 3 main courses and Singapore noodles with mushroom and chilli, 2 bottles of sauvignon blanc and a carafe of tap water. Simply the worst restaurant in the world. ive heard raving reviews about Nikki IP's restaurant but was incredibly dissapointed when i went. the manager was too in your face for my liking, i think he needs to calm down a bit and let people enjoy their meals. the restaurant is cramped and stuffy and the all the staff are rude and seem oblivious to anything that is going on around them. in general nikki ips ruined my night and my friends birthday, they offered no apologies when our bill was... Having not eaten at Nikki Ips for some time we thought that we would return to see if the service had improved. We had a table of 4 and we squashed in upstairs. The seating plans are dreadful and they need to take a few tables out in order to actually let customers enjoy their meals, without you elbowing the person on the next table.

An annual ritual is a family trip to Nikki ips to celebrate my daughter birthday. This year was extra special with an engagement & recent graduation to add to the celebrations.
The food was, as always, excellent.

In my experience, this has to be the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. I thought the food was terrible... I would do better heating a microwave meal. I thought the restaurant itself seemed filthy... It had carpet on the floor which appeared ingrained with old food. The upstairs of the establishment looked like someone's living room. Very strange. I felt the food was overpriced and some members of staff seemed rude to me. (read more)

when going to a restaurant i always check with the person taking my order if i am ordering somthing to my taste as the descriptions are not awlays correct. the staff will always know and can advise you, you could go to the best restaurant in the world but by miss ordering could give you a faulse impression of the place

I can only say that having happily eaten here many times over the last 3/4 years the experience of last Saturday, 26th August 06 has left a very unpleasant taste in the mouth. It appears this previously admirable restaurant is now a fast-food outlet; we arrived on time at 8pm and at 9.15 were shocked to be asked to leave as the table was required for a 9.30 booking, we did so immediately without our usual coffee and will not be returning. All I can say is you must have put their backs up as I have been in on the hectic of evenings and you may have had to wait a while but they are always courteous and helpful as much as they can be in an environment that requires you to try and keep every on happy.
Not a fair general appraisal of a restaurant that tries hard to keep good standards to my mind.
