Good Points: New Breed, Find My Way Home, Johnny and Luther and Chaos. The most accurate review at the time said this would've made a blinding EP. New Breed is a fantastic opening song that draws you in with it`s hypnotic beat before it assaults you with its raucous crescendo. This is steeped in the Brit pop tradition so depending on your taste this could also be a bad point.
Bad Points: Quite a few songs that have a "that`ll do" feel about them. Also there`s a few songs that the backing vocals completely put you off listening to what else is going on(Take Me and Our Passing). There`s a few nods to the psychedelic route the band would later take but sadly not enough.
General comments: Frantic Chant are now on their third album, "Frantic Chant Ya Bass" and it just goes to show it pays for record companies to be patient with bands and let them grow.
I haven`t heard the second album so I don`t know if it was a gradual progression.
If you have only heard the first album don`t let it put you off this band, it`s well worth trying to find out more. It`s like two different bands to me so maybe they should of changed their name to go with the new sound and new line up.
Finally, if anyone from the band or record company reads this, where can I get the second album?

Frantic Chant are Charlatans and Oasis soundalikes with same-y songs packed with either optimistic predictions of The New Dawn or anarchic expressions of doom. Straight ripoffs of Oasis and Beatles riffs (what's the difference anyway?) don't stand the band's material in good stead, but there are a couple of decent poppy guitar rock anthems on offer. Singer Stazy has an unerring ability to sing flat, whilst bassist Bilbicus does not dance to any known rhythm and wears the worst shirts in all eter ...
