Good Points: Intuitive settings and menu. The Nikon pict. motion slide show is great - it displays your photos on a TV while panning/ and zooming in and out and playing music. This makes your presentation appear more like a video. Nikon software very good.

Bad Points: I can't think of any apart from the music in the pict. motion function - it loops too quickly back to the start, with a slight hiccup/gap before restarting - little bit annoying, but hardly what you could call a serious photographic problem.

    General comments:
The Nikon D80 is a fabulous camera in every respect, at least for me it is. Although no longer being made, if you see one at a good price anywhere, especially new, snap it up fast. Best to find the kit with the 18mm-135mm lens which is excellent. Spend a little time getting to know the settings and you will find it very easy and a joy to use. The colours and picture quality are excellent. I have just been travelling around Thailand and PDR Laos with it, and I just couldn't stop shooting - day and night. If you can stretch to the D90 then I suppose that would be better, but at the right price, this camera is a cracking recession beater.

This must be the best value for money for a camera in this price range. If you already have a Nikon film camera you will probably find that the lenses will fit you D80. Check it out at your camera store.

The Nikon D80 is an excellent camera and the best you will get for the price by a long way. Good for enthusiasts but not quite pro standard.

The Nikon D80 is a good price, best value, top of entry level DSLR camera. Maybe could do with an update for D80 with full frame sensor ^^

I get first class results from my Nikon D80, easy to use , excellent menu, and even better than my previous camera the D70, an all round upgrade in all respects, and now even cheaper

A great camera for the price. Shop around for best deals. A good step up from my D40X. much better for manual settings and generally easier to use.

After doing much research I opted for this camera the Nikon D80 over the Canon 400D. Am I glad I did. This camera has impressed from the start. I am ploughing through all that it can do with ease. The Nikon seems to get the autofocus just right 95% of the time and the on-board editing feature is a joy.

The D80 has been out for over a year now - and you still haven't bought one? As the adverts say, What are you waiting for? And all the digital camera reviews I've seen say the same! If you can't run to this price go for the D40X. But if you want the best DSLR for its price, this is it. From the moment you first put it in your hand, you will know it is just so right. The standard kit lens (18-135) is the one to go for, perfectly acceptable for most occasions. If you don't want to do any work, lea ...

The Nikon D80 digital camera does everything the D200 does, but it is a lot lighter. But, as with all Nikons - you don't get to use the LCD for framing - only the viewfinder...sometimes you want to be able to hold the camera up high and shoot...surely this would be easy to have as an option?

    Awesome camera...enough said.

This Nikon is the best so far, a fine follow up to the excellent D70.
