Good Points: Produces excellent pictures outdoors. Great colours. Small. Big LCD screen. Good Super Macro lens/zoom.
Bad Points: Flash is inadequate when using outdoors or when objects are not very close. Flash can over power an image when used indoors at night.
General comments: I have had this Pentax Optio S5z Camera for just over six months and overall have found it to be a very good compact SLR. I have never reviewed a product before so was unsure of how to rate it (1-10 etc). I found the camera very easy to use. With a good selection of picture modes. Although a lot of them seem a little pointless and I find I have only really used several of them. Such as P/Night Mode/Panoramic/Sports. I would say generally this camera is excellent for outdoor use, i.e on a sunny day. On these occasions it picks out colours excellently. However when the light is a little more dull, colours do become slightly merged. My main problem with the camera would be the flash. I found that at nite in an outdoor area the flash was inadequate and could not cope. This became more of a problem when using 'Night Mode' because unless the subject AND the camera are held absolutely still the image will be blurred.
This aside I found this camera a joy to use and live with, and it's a shame that I inevitably grew out of it and I am now looking for something better. I would recommend this camera to people using it for what I have described but not to people who want a good flash.
