“Tremendous value”

These are a great looking (natural finish), excellent build quality and excellent sounding pair of floor standers. Placement is important as they sound superb on some types of floor - springy for instance, compared to some sold floors. Great value either way, especially at £69.95.

“Seeking a pair of stand-in speakers while I sort out...”

Seeking a pair of stand-in speakers while I sort out the repair of my ageing Harbetths I was fortunate to come across the Eltax Concept 180s in Richer Sounds for the remarkable price of only £70. The 180s have a good sound with clear lead and vocals due to their mid range drivers and, the top end projects quite well. Bass response is a little light but this can be balanced out if you have a reasonable amp with bass boost and adequate tone controls; after all that's what tone controls are for! At 80cm tall and a bit less in length, but as wide as a piece of A4 paper, they're a good size to lose in the corner of a room. The key for me though was power handling as I'm pairing them with a 40 year old Technics SU-V3 amplifier which can push 100 watts per channel. So with some headroom on the amp these speakers should last well with their 90W constant and 180W peak handling capacity. Most of all though, these speakers have good overall reviews on the web and, at £100 or less they are really unbeatable and I'll soon get used to the different sound. Let's not forget, no two sets of speakers ever sound the same.

The Eltax Concept 180 speakers are really good for the money that I purchased them for - £60 at Richer Sounds, and they are retailing at £100.

Clear treble, and good vocals due to separate mid range.

They can take a fair bit of power too - 90 Watts to 180 Watts.

Recommend getting a subwoofer if you are looking for really powerful bass.
