Whilst Masterchef could be called a reality show, it's certainly a cut above most of the nonseence this genre churns out. The idea is simple, contests (amature chefs only) whip up some dishes to be judged and are then either sent home or put through to the next round depending on how good of a chef they really are.

Masterchef is the best reality-style program on TV. Two top notch chefs have to choose one winner from a range of aspiring chefs from all ages and backgrounds. Some have been cooking for their families for years, some are retirees who have gotten into cuisine, some are students just learning and some just want to change direction.
