Bad Points: Non-existant customer service Obnoxius and no continuity in my opinion
General comments: Got comprehensive car insurance through Endsleigh in 2007/8. Non fault accident occurred & car taken off for repairs.
Car brought back following repairs with the engine warning light on, malfunctioning brakes and juddering when being driven. Garage and Endsleigh informed immediately, to be told that it's nothing to do with the accident or repairs, so get your car serviced (last done 3 months ago).
After numerous phone calls to Endsleigh and having to liaise with some very impertinent and hostile phone operators, we finally managed to get someone to ask the garage to take a look at the car again.
A driver turned up to drive the car away (>30 mile round trip) and left again upon being told the condition of the car. Further abuse dealt out to us by both the garage and Endsleigh because we had "refused" to allow collection of the car, so you'll just have to wait several days for an inspection and we can't tell you when that might be.
Over the following 3 days we made around 20 calls to Endsleigh to try and establish what was being done to rectify the problems with the car and to enquire as to a courtesy car (which the policy states will be provided for "the entire period of your car's repair"). Each call required relaying the story time and time again, on one occasion we were transferred seven times. Most operators also felt the need to debate in that the accident could not be responsible for any engine problems (wouldn't be too great a relevation to me, as there was £4000 of damage done to the car). Each call was left with the promise that someone would phone us back within the hour or half hour or 5 minutes or straight away. However, no one EVER phoned back for the whole 3 days.
We kept a log of phone calls, but phone operators refused to give their name when i asked, department or phone number, refused to allow us to speak to superiors and you could never speak to the same person twice.
Eventually we were told that an independant engineer would come out in a few days time to assess the car and no courtesy car would be available until they had filed a report and it had been assessed by Endsleigh.
Save your sanity and don't put yourselves through the same

i got a quote through one of these 'confused.com' type websites. although they weren't the cheapest, I took them because they have a branch about 5 mins from my flat. This was the best decision iv'e ever made in insurance. when my (1.1 litre) Peogeot died during some off-road activities in ireland, i had to cancel my policy and try claw back some monies.i was only greeted by the normal incompetence and 20 minutes listening to (your call is important to us) and (we are experiencing a very high ca ...

I was involved in an accident on the M25 where another person drove into the back of me while sat in still traffic. I passed on the 3rd partys vehicle reg number, name/address & tel Number to Endsleigh. I have had nothing but trouble since day one. They were writing to me at the wrong address although I informed them on numerous occasions of this. They and the garage told me everything was settled and I had nothing to pay but 3 months later the garage called me to say I owe them £550 as ...

I had bought a car 6 months ago which came with a years free insurance from Endsleigh, I have since changed the car and tried to change my policy to the new car. I was told that since I have only been driving 1 year and 7 months they will not insure me for my new car at all!!!!
Old car was a 1.6 Scenic, new car is a 1.8 Zafira.
Why will they give me insurance for a 1.6 and not a 1.8?
When I was told they could not offer me insurance they wanted to transfer me to another place that could. I t ...

Realised that Endsleigh had put the wrong year of make on the policy..i called to ask to change the year and they said it would cost me £230 extra..I tried to argue as much as possible but because my insurance was done over the phone I didn't have a leg to stand on..I tried to call them many times but was passed onto loads of different people! Worst company I have ever dealt with and very unprofessional. Do not recommend. After they had charged me extra for the wrong year of make the insur ...

I have started a new job and I need to use my car for work but Endsleigh will not let me upgrade my policy to include business.
"Computer Says No". I have tried everything to get it included but they will not budge. They then told me I was not covered for the commute to work and if I wanted it I would have to pay £ 64

Got a quote from Endsleigh Car Insurance which was too good to be true. I'm a 21 year old male driver, with 1 years NCB and a new used 1600cc ford focus hatchback.
I was originally quoted £705. Brilliant I thought but when I received the cover note the car was down as a 1400cc. This is despite me inputting my car registration number on the website, which uses the dvla database to confirm information about cars. I rang up customer services to let them know there was an error and to m ...

When I tried to buy car insurance from Endsleigh, their quote was the cheapest, but their online system did not work. So I phoned to provide the information required and they issued a cover note. On receipt, the cover note had several errors on it, despite me providing the correct information. I phoned again to correct the information and they issued a second cover note. This contained even more errors. At this point, I realised that I wasn't going to get anywhere with them. I phoned to cancel t ...

On the 24/10/06 we were involved in an accident on the M6. On informing our insurance company that the car had been pushed sideways, they told me my car would be picked up by Erdington Accident Repair Centre the following day. I was not given a choice of where to take my car.
Erdington Accident repair centre picked up the car, and both them and the insurance company were aware that the car had been pushed sideways by an artic.
After 4 weeks we were informed the car was ready for collection, ...

In their correspondence, the phone number is an office in your area. If you phone the number you are quite likely to get the person whose name is on the letter. They know what they are doing and sort your problem out on the spot.
Endsleigh car insurance were able to sort out a kind of insurance 'Catch 22' which arose when I bought insurance and a car for my daughter (can't remember the details), which saved a great deal of inconvenience in moving the car up to Manchester.
I do not bother sh ...

With two months to run on my Endsleigh car insurance policy, I got a new job which included a company car as part of the package. By the time I had sold my old car, the policy had almost expired, so I didn't bother cancelling. I telephoned Endsleigh to inform them that I wouldn't be renewing, as I no longer required personal car insurance.
They called me twice after that, and wrote to me twice. Perhaps once would be acceptable - a message not passed on, but the second call was irritating. I'm ...

Endsleigh Car Insurance - It just seems a shame that when you come to cancell with them their attitude is so much different. On ringing again i was put through to Stephen at the London branch and he was a lot more helpful and cancelled it right away however £50.00 just to cancel a policy is extortionate

I had a car accident which involved me writing of my own car and the other car, and damaging 2 other cars, so obviously I made an insurance claim to Endsleigh. Months after the claim I got letters from the third parties insurance companies saying they do not have my insurance details. So I contacted Endsleigh and asked them why they hadn't sorted it out. They said they were. Weeks later I got 2 more letters from the third party insurers asking for my insurance details. Fed up of waiting for Ends ...

Endsleigh Car Insurance are very slow to respond. Refund of deposit taken over 3 weeks to come, and I am still waiting, and have yet to see my money back. People very unknowledgable and they misinformed me. Unprofessional and inflexible in meeting customer needs.

I obtained a quote online from Endsleigh car insurance, and it was very cheap. The following day a women rang me from the call centre, and she confirmed that I had protected my insurance, and that there was no excess. I paid the insurance. I received the cover note two days later, but it stated that my no claims was not protected. I rang the call centre, and they promised me a call back within two hours. I received no call, so I rang three days later, again explaining I only wanted to protect my ...

I went with Endsleigh car insurance because they offered a competitive quote. I remember thinking at the time that the administrative processes for setting up the insurance were a bit rubbish, but went through with it anyway. How foolish I was. I recently had my car stolen; but the truly harrowing part of the whole experience was trying to make a claim with Endsleigh. I must have spoken to 30 people, and was passed and re-passed around numerous departments, occasionally being cut-off, and co ...

I had to make a claim and Endsleigh Car Insurance staff were very sympathetic and efficient. The premium was reasonably high but I did get a lot for my money. I will definitely be renewing!

I found getting car insurance quite difficult because I am a company car driver. Endsleigh provided me with a really cheap price because they could use my company car experience as a no cliams bonus. I would recommend them if you are in this position. They are at http://www.endsleigh.co.uk

Endsleigh can offer good car insurance rates, especially to younger drivers but they will not take no for an answer! Expect numerous follow up phone calls if you ask for a quote!
