The BBQ was bought in 2007, it is always stored indoors and carefully looked after, the main problem is that the burner is not very good, the flame coverage is poor and the burner is made from very rust prone metal, to cut a long story short the burner rusted through after 3 years and Outback do not stock spares so a perfectly sound BBQ will meet its maker because Outback don't do spares, be warned. Bought excel 200 insummer 2011, has been kept undercover but is still quite rusted. The main problem was the burner packed in last spring and was told no replacement available until 2013!!Have emailed outback 3 times now requesting replacement or when one is availble and have had no response!! ~ (read more)

I have an Outback bbq, looks great after four or five years, the outside is perfect, nothign wrong at all. The burners don't cook very evenly, stuff at the back cooks much more quickly than stuff at the front, that's irritating, but what is really irritating is that whilst all the visible parts are fine after four or five years the internal parts have in places corroded away to nothing. The whole thing will probably end up in a skip in the next twelve months, and it was kept under cover all... (read more)

Good looking and stylist, excellent Value, instructions very clear but not at all easy to put together, parts difficult to get to, very easy for small Chinese fingers, but took two of us nearly a day with breaks before job completed, at times wished we had not purchased it. Sorry but have to say I have put many BBQ'S together having having having worked in a Gardening Department at work but this was the most frustrating by a long, long way! (read more)

I bought an Outback Excel 200 in 2007. Until now I had been well pleased with it but when I used it on the Royal Wedding day I discovered that the burner was completely corroded and in a dangerous state. It has had limited use over 4 seasons and has been well looked after. When not in use it is kept covered and in a dry shed. Cost of replacing the burner (if they had one in stock) is nearly £50 so I think a better option will be to buy a replacement in my local DIY store. £150 for 4 year's... (read more)

We've just bought our third BBQ and our second one of these. It is a good sturdy BBQ and is a better buy than similar ones from DIY shops or supermarkets. It doesn't matter how well you look after this type of BBQ, it will only last 2/3 years due to rust (of body, burners, gas pipe etc). We just accept that we buy new every couple of years, we've considered paying more for more durability but suspect that might be a waste of money (a much more expensive unused one in the garden centre is... Its a BBQ. It works just fine. But the metal is poorly coated and the shell metal is made of cheap thin metal. I have had it for 3 years. Kept it under cover and in the shed in the winter. I also cleaned it fairly well. However, the burner, the grate and the body under the burners have all corroded. This is a cheap BBQ that works well but doesn't last. Not sure whether to keep buying cheap ones every 3 years or pay double and see how long a "decent" one lasts. (read more)

My Outback Excel 200 BBQ was good value for money, smart looking and easy to clean. Easy to put together, only the wheel spacers not correctly labeled but as they are the only two parts left in the box at the end its easy. (read more)

Assembly of the Outback Excel 200 takes hours even with two people. Handle out of alignment. Screws missing and those that were present were strewn around inside of box. I would love to be able to say great bbq and maybe it is. The experience of putting it together has been a nightmare . Maybe we were just the unlucky ones! Cant comment on performance too tired to even try now. (read more)

We bought the Outback Excel 200 barbecue at the beginning of the season and it has done us proud. I'm also confident it will be fine for next year as well, as long as I package it away properly for winter. This barbecue offers quite a large cooking surface, not massive, but it does the job for us and it is very easy to keep an eye on what is happening to the meat while cooking.
The included warming rack also adds to your options when cooking and means no one has to suffer the trauma of a...

I agree - my experiance of an Excel 300 (same as 200 but has a side burner - waste of space!) is the same as this. It has had limited use over 2 years but the body is now rusting rapidly inside and the burner has rusted right through.
I can't bring myself to be ripped of for another cheap quality but expensively priced burner so I'm investigating a 4 burner fully stainless steel bbq fof £190 on ebay. If it lasts 4 years I'll have come out better off than buying one of these bean cans!
